After reading information about this sale online, i decided it was worth a shot to check out, the sale was if you buy 4 games in blister packs, you would save $5.00 off each game. so i went to the store, to pick up some of the playstation games that were priced at $4.99. so i picked them out and went up to the register where the cashier started to ring them, but then another cashier told her to check with a manager.
After about a 10 min wait, the manager came up and told me he couldnt sell them to me for the sale price because the sign was misprinted. The sign said, and i memorized this, "blister pack games $19.99 and under". I asked him a few questions about it, and how i had read that people were saying they had gotten these games for free from other fye stores, he then claimed that those were false reports, and that he called 7 stores to verify that the $4.99 games were not included, which sounds a little sketchy to me because i dont believe there are 7 fye stores anywhere around here. He also said the sale sign had been a misprint, and i know this sign had been up for at least a few days, so when i asked him about when the sign was put up, he claimed it was just put up today.
I then asked him for his name, and a number for fye that i could contact about this matter. he wrote down his name and a number, i went outside the store to call the number and not much to my shock it was the wrong number. I instantly went back in the store and asked to talk to him again, and he didnt even ask me anything he corrected the number on the peice of paper without me even having to tell him thats what was wrong! he walked right up to the register and wrote the proper number over the false one!
I went back outside the store and called, and as i expected i left a message about the matter. i was on my was out of the mall when i saw some mall security, so i told them about the matter, to which one even exclaimed "thats false advertising!" they then explained they could not do anything, but they directed me to the guest service booth at the mall, where i filled out a complaint card about the matter. While at the guest service booth, i asked if they had a phone book to look up the number of the BBB, so i looked it up and called, i got a message which said i should try and resolve all matters before filing a report, and i thought this was fair.
So back i went to fye, and the manager was on the floor so i didnt even have to wait to talk to him. i asked him if he wished to resolve it tonight before complaints were filed. which he refused. we then had an intresting conversation. he said that the sale was only on xbox, ps2, and gamecube games. which contridicted his earlier statment that $4.99 games were excluded. Also acording to him, the fact that only these games were included, did not have to be printed on the sign, because, as he confirmed, it was "implied". i then asked how it was implied, since the sign was on top of a rack that had playstation one games on it, to which he replied, "it dosent matter where i put the sign, i could put it in the cd section."
so heres what i need from you guys.
if someone could take a picture (high res) of the sign, it would be helpful, because the took the sign down before i left the store the first time.
also, anyone who has bought games for "free", could you please post the address, store number, and phone # of the store you got them at
and if anyone could, could you scan your recipts showing you got these free?
im sure this will be a most intresting topic, but please, if you can, help
