Frosty,
So with ghost I just prepare an image on a computer, back it up to the network with ghost, and then just load that image off the network with ghost?
I think so. My IT skills with it are limited, as they stopped using ghost at work when I started, as it was clashing with XP and serial numbers at first.
But I'm pretty sure that's what the IT department responsible for the company image uses -- create a new image with ghost, they put it up on the network, then they have a website that basically downloads whatever exe it needs and points it to the networked ghost image. So these days, when I image a laptop, all I have to do is basically invoke their script.
They do something where they wipe the drive with partition magic and create a *Staging* partition -- I think that's where they store the image as it downloads -- then it installs to the other half of the disk where it's been partitioned to NTFS. When everything is said and done, our script invokes PM again, wiping the staging partition and reclaiming it as part of the main partition.
