Gurren Lagann at the $99.98 price, yay or nay?? I've only seen the first 3 episodes and I liked what I saw but wondering what everyone here thinks about buying it at that price. Is the series worth it?? Thank you

 
How is Accel World? They only have part 1 on sale though.. I could be wrong, but didn't they split up Part 1 and Part 2 of Penguindrum between different waves last year?

EDIT: Actually nevermind. I just realized they have Part 1 of the DVDs on sale, not blu rays.

getbackers is far too mediocre to have sold out so quickly. while it is a good price the series wasn't that amazing. may bite on the golgo 13 sets.

nah it should be starting before that. likely around the 1st. Typically they run it where you can order on the 13th day with standard shipping and still have a very good chance of having your package before christmas.

in 2012 the 12 days started on the 26th of nov, in 2013 it started on dec 2nd. In general the waves will just blur into the 12 days anymore.

 
I was lucky I got Getbackers at all, and it didn't seem too bad so I bit on it.  Same with Kobato and Moribito (both blind) from earlier sales.

Can anyone give a recommendation for Special A?  I thought the episodes I saw were...not my fancy of comedy or romance but some of it was still fine.

If you want all of the extra stuff, that's probably the cheapest you're ever going to find them. If you're just looking for the show though, spend some time looking around for used copies of the old Bandai sets. There's two sets with dubs and subs (Anime Legends, and 6 individual DVD sets) and one set with subtitle only (3 sets, 2 discs each).

 
agreed viz rarely does complete sets or larger sets. for example naruto only got season sets because it was finished. until then it had the 13 episode box sets. shippuden is doing the same. death note barely got one some 4 years after the series had been released.

Card captor blu ray is selling for $184.99 I don't think it's part of any sale or holiday deal, but thought I'd say in case anyone wanting to get it..

I was thinking of getting the Shakugan no shana is that decent anime? They have it for sale on the wave 3 I'm thinking of getting it, but not sure if it's any good.

It is considerably cheaper to buy the Highschool of the dead bluray/dvds separately. Even if you want both bluray and dvd.

Total - $51.41

Cheaper than the megadeal at $74.99

My fiancee has seen shows like Chobits, Fruits Basket, Sailor Moon, Black Lagoon and such, more common stuff, and I was thinking of buying some things for Christmas but don't know a lot about it myself. She doesn't have the most strict taste, but i'd like to still aim for quality.

Based on what she's seen, I'd highly recommend Honey and Clover.

 
Princess Tutu and Moribito would be excellent picks. Bodacious Space Pirates is another solid choice, and Diamond Daydreams is worth considering given its price. It's less of a bargain, but Rose of Versailles is a classic.

 
I really wanted those You're Under Arrest DVDs, but I couldn't find anything else I was interested in to get the free shipping. I still have the Criminally Complete Collection from Rightstuf's VHS clearance sale they did a decade ago.
