Well fuck. earlier my friends were playing behind me and I wasn't paying attention. And one of them went to look at the DLC and asked if they could download Rockaway Beach. I have a bunch of spare points on there and carelessly said oh yea sure. Then later on it hit me that I already downloaded the Punk Pack. Total brain fart, but I wish they'd do something to prevent that.

lose.

Does anyone know roughly how much the complete Rock Band bundle weighs? I'm in the UK and thinking of importing it, I'm wondering how much the shipping costs will be.

Checked my Best Buy order and the UPS tracking says it was 19.5 pounds, hope that helps.

Perfect, thanks.

I really, really doubt that. I've sent much lighter, smaller packages to my husband when he lived there that cost that much.

If it's 20 lbs, you're looking at bare minimum $ 85.50 for Global Priority, but for that it's also got to be within certain size limits... Which if I'm reading right are as follows:

Maximum length: 60 inches
Maximum length and girth combined: 108 inches.

but it could also be the following, I'm not sure:
1. Minimum length and width: 5-1/2 inches x 3-1/2 inches.
2. Maximum length: 42 inches.
3. Maximum length and girth combined: 79 inches.

which'd rule priority out and move you up to international express for $100+ and the following limits: Maximum length: 36 inches
Maximum length and girth combined: 79 inches

And that might not even fit the bill (not measured my box, so...)

If that didn't work, you're down to global express guaranteed which is $150+ for 20 lbs.

Not to mention customs tax.

But they may have a few other options I'm not familiar with via UPS and Fedex and the like, but more often than not for me, they were much pricier.

My mail/merchandise forwarding company quoted me $100ish for 1-4 day delivery based on 20lb, via DHL. (Naturally they get huge discounts.)

I was playing with my GF on the BWT we got up the plan.

Three random songs first time the blacking fail.

So we start all over next time ...And Justice for us all.

This game hates me.

It's trying to bless you, but you must hone both of your skills.

See why I didn't buy the Metallica pack? ;)

Two suggestions:

1) Think about the hardware reliability. How are you going to deal with a RB bundle if you pay $270 altogether to ship it over, and suddenly the guitar or drums are fucked?

2) If you go through with bringing one over, shouldn't you consider bringing over 2 or so copies of the bundle for reselling to recoup some of the shipping cost?

1) Yep, you're right. With so many people having hardware problems it doesn't look like it's worth doing this.

2) I thought about it but Rock Band is region locked, and that serious limits the number of potential buyers over here.
What's the EU release date for this game?
06 Mar 2008 (Some places are reporting 07 Mar 2008, not sure which is right.)

2 months? I think you're right, it isn't worth the trouble to import from the states.

It would be interesting to see if DLC from our region works with your copy of the game in a few months. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.

I'm not sure if it varies from game to game, but Japanese downloaded content worked on Beautiful Katamari as long as you're on a japanese tag. But that was before the fall update, and I've heard people having problems getting on their japanese gamertags to download content now...

I'm hoping they release the same DLC all over, because there's some UK bands I would love to request and think they'd fit perfectly in the game, but they're completely unknown here. Biffy Clyro DLC would get me so thrilled I'd have to consider getting a PAL 360 if that's what it took. But I imagine the DLC will have to differ on regions thanks to who's got record deals where and whatnot... Hm.
See why I didn't buy the Metallica pack? ;)
The Metallica pack is about the only DLC I didn't buy for just that same reason. I'm not a big fan of Metallica to begin with. I probably wouldn't mind playing them once in a while, but I'm not risking having to play them over and over in the world tour or in random setlists.

I never really listened to Metallica until GHIII and Rock Band. I think One is a great song, but the solo is total murder in GH3. I can't even imagine trying to play it in Rock Band as a drummer.
So any guesses on this weeks download?
I'm gonna take a real shot in the dark and say some Jimi Hendrix, My Chemical Romance, Greatful Dead and some sort of announcement concerning full album downloads
Where are these people coming from?
"these people" have always felt metallica that way about metallica.
they are shit. nothings changed.

I just hope that the people that are saying Metallica's shit because they actually believe that, and not just bitter about how awful St. Anger was like some people were.

oh and I pray for a Turbonegro song pack some day.... It'd be a one in a millions shot but if they pick the right songs it'd be a fun pack.

And the winner is...
This week at $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) we have-

"Number of the Beast" made famous by Iron Maiden (cover)

"Die! All Right" by the Hives

"Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots

oh and I pray for a Turbonegro song pack some day.... It'd be a one in a millions shot but if they pick the right songs it'd be a fun pack.
I dunno - I think they're popular enough to make it onto RB. I could see it happening, especially if they offered the songs up at $0.99.

Interstate Love Song is a really fun one to play - on real guitar, at least. THe DLs are going to kill me... there arew so many I already want even though I haven't pulled the trigger yet (I'm not even close to getting through the main game).

It sucks that the Iron Maiden songs are all (I think) cover versions. Then again, the sheer awesomeness of Bruce Dickinson's voice compared to everyone else's would make it impossible to actually complete a song if you were trying to do the vocal part.

EDIT - Needs more "Alexander the Great" as well.

Post impressions of the Maiden cover here; it won't be up until Thursday on PSN, so if the vocal track is as bad as it was on Run to The Hills (yes, I suppose I'm being picky, but I'm fuckin' allowed to be), I may pass up on it.
All 3 songs are solid IMO. I'm grabbing them.
I'm not fond of the Hives song, personally. And I'm holding off on Maiden 'til I know its difficulty. For BWT random setlist sake, I'm trying to keep my DLC towards the easier side, without avoiding the really fun tracks that may be a little harder.

The vocal cover on RTTH was great.

Biffy Clyro is getting some traction here in the states. I know Alt Nation (Sirius' alt rock channel) has been playing them, which is where I heard them. You might not need a PAL 360, who knows.
No.
Being the resident "OMG MANOWAR IS IN TOWN!!!!" metalhead, I can attest to the fact that yes, Susan, the vocals for the RttH cover were awful, just as myke is saying.
All their songs sound the same and are....boring
I'm wondering how GHIII pulled off a master track of Number of the Beast, but Rock Band couldn't.
