Shocking news.

I met these guys a few years ago, have an xbox signed by them

Trapt, the band famous for the #1 alternative song for the year in 2003, and also a top 5 crossover hit on the pop charts, and top 10 on the billboard 200, were dropped from Warner Brothers this month.

Trapt was then signed to Elevenseven, as dicussed before, houses the bands Papa Roach, Buckcherry, and The Exies (who by the way, if youve never heard them, go get their cd's or at least dl their music, they are great)

Trapt's self titled debut sold over 1 million copies, which spawned the #1 song Headstrong, with follow ups Still frame (Top 3 alt), and Echo (top 30 on pop, top 10 alternative)

However, the much anticipated follow up, Someone in Control, flopped. Lead single Stand Up barely graced the top 15 at alternative, and second and third singles, Waiting and Disconnected, barely graced the top 50.

Sad to see the move, Trapt was really cool to meet in person

I had to go look up this song they are so "famous" for.

Now I hate you. For the music these guys play, they deserve more than being dropped by Warner Brothers. I suggest they mow my lawn and pay me for the privilege, because they're that fuckin' awful.

brilliant enought to warrant a new sig :)

I think it's pretty obvious why they were dropped...they couldn't resproduce the success they had with their one hit song.

And it's not even a good hit song. It's one of those hit songs that is played so much on teh radio that you hate it when you hear it.

Actually though, their first record had 3 top 10 hits, which is phenomenal for any band's debut cd.

They released the follow up cd's singles though pretty piss poorly tho, Waiting is a great song, but too.. poppy?

They had their run -_-V For a good year lol.

I saw them live once at a small venue...good show. Respect them for the effort they put out too. First cd wasn't horriable.

not really surprising they got dropped, the nu metal phase is over... could be worse, they couldve pulled a linkin park and changed their style and turn into absolute shit

Fail.

Trapt was suprisingly good sounding live.

Also music snobbery is always good for a laugh.

Oh go listen to your Hannah Montana sheot and stop whinin :)

That kinda sucks. Their first cd was really good IMO. Their second cd wasn't on the same level, but it wasn't the worst cd ever. Too bad :(

Theyre first cd was good. Thats all they had in them though. So its no wonder they were dropped. Doesnt mean thats the last youll hear from them though.

And I love reading all the snobby music comments too. "Mainstream sucks, Radio rock is dumb, I only listen to music that is too bad to gain a large fan base, etc and so forth"

I think you're barking up the wrong thread with this. ;)
What's this thread for, exactly?
i don't know. a bunch of people seem to be taking great offense to others mocking an entirely unimportant band. i mean...trapt? are they really worth getting riled up over? really?

I may be stating the obvious here, but I've noticed an inclination lately for CAGs to get riled up over just about anything...regardless of how common, insignificant, and small it is.

Beyond that, there appears to be a certain subset of users that get up in the morning with the specific agenda of vehemently defending their stance on what is, essentially, bullshit.

Again, no great fracking revelation here...it just seems to be a bit worse than usual, of late.

That shit gets me riled up. It's neither funny nor clever, it's just a lazy thing that everyone apes.

Christ, you might as well say something sarcastic and throw in a vituperative "NOT!!!" at the end of your sentence.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I never heard of these guys and Warner Bros is loosing money big time on cd sales so its understandable.

I liked their first CD a lot, but when I met them, personally I thought the singer was a prick...I had won tickets to see them and to meet them at a special rehearsal before the show, the singer was such a jerk that I didn't even stick around to see the show...I had him sign a poster for me, he acted like an ass then I said screw it and went home. I still listen to the CD once in awhile, but it is hard to forget my impressions of the guy.

FIFY.

Wow they get punished for a sophomore flop, which is pretty common in the music industry. I thought both waiting and disconnected were decent songs.

When I met them, I even mentioned how great waiting was, that it could have been a huge cross over song, if they did it acousitcly, but they didnt -_-V

I'm surprised you didn't remember them from performing the theme to Badd Blood 2003, a pretty mediocre PPV despite the Michaels/Flair match.
I really enjoyed the first CD...2nd one was ok.
I'd go a step further and say that the 2nd cd was horrid. Not the worst thing ever written (or even in the same year), but definitely not good. I did like the first CD though. There were only a few "whiney bitch man" songs that hurt it overall.

Every WWE show has the same kind of mindless metal song associated with it such that it all blends together. That's why I don't remember.

Except for the theme on Raw. Nothin' like seeing a video montage of big dudes beating up other big dudes while some whiny emo fuck sings "I just wanna be loved" over my television set.

Yea there first cd was good, they are awesome live and their 2nd was okay.

I caught a drumstick at their live show and got some autographs, at least when they play live they don't sound like ass which a lot of alternative bands sound like these days.
That's another one. Why don't you post a picture of "epic fail guy" and shoot for the trifecta?
Hey I've got an idea. Why don't you get your feelings hurt from being called a music snob and then try to derail the thread by pretending you don't understand the concept of an internet meme.

Then you can go back to being the resident intellectual with quirky interests such as old-school punk and wrestling.

Hey - that sounds like a guy I used to work with. Only listened to fringe music, only drank imported or microbrew beer, didn't like anything that anyone else liked so he could be "eclectic" (his own word used to describe himself), used fifty-buck words in general conversations to showcase his formidable intelligence. He was definitely an individual (well, in the sense that he carefully crafted his behaviors and image so that he would be "different" than eveyone else, and in the process he became a completely phony, made-up person).

Only thing Mr. Eclectic couldn't figure out for all of his vast intelligence? Nearly everyone in his orbit pretty much hated his ass and couldn't stand being around him. Go figure.

The problem with Trapt is that they sound just like every other disposable band out there that no one will hear from again - Puddle of Mudd, Hoobastank, Simple Plan, Creed, Staind, Lifehouse, etc. ad nauseam...

Definitely forgive me if I'm wrong here, but weren't you the one that was blowing their wad to go see U2? One of the shittiest, most generic sounding bands ever.
