Wow, that microphone is a cool idea... too bad the regular mic didn't have the controller buttons...

Portable drum set on the other hand, wtf?... who wants that?

It's $50 for the mic.
 
The Onion's AVClub has a pretty interesting interview with some Harmonix people. It doesn't give you any new information about what's going to be in the game or anything, but it goes into how they made it, and the design descisions that went into making the game, which I found very fascinating.

Oh, wait! One thing they do tell us is that there's gonna be a lot more clothing/hair/face options. Scarves, masks, and more accessories.

Dream Theater - Panic Attack
the Who - Pinball Wizard
the Offspring - Come out and Play
 
Judas Priest - Painkiller.
Silversun Pickups- Lazy Eye.
and all the others.

Is there a price for the three symbols and drum kick screen?
I think I might pick that up instead of the premium drum set...maybe.

I think it's $30 for the cymbals.
 
The portable drums would be good for anyone who doesn't have room for the regular kit. That thing takes up a lot of space ya know.

I'm looking forward to the Madcatz mic. I wish it was wireless, but adding the controls is a significant enough improvement to warrant a purchase.
 
looks like amazon changed their release date to October 19th for the Special Edition, but kept the game only as a September release. Anyone know if they may be releasing the SE at a later time?
I had both preordered at amazon because i wasn't sure if i'd be getting the instruments and today i got two emails..one about the delay on the SE and the other telling my the game only version would ship sooner. very odd.
 
GameStop has the special edition for October 19 as well. It's bad news for anyone who wants to replace their instruments...

AC/DC would have made my list, but Let There Be Rock is a lame RB song. Give me Dirty Deeds or Whole Lotta Rosie.
 
So RB2 got me into Silversun Pickups, I bought their album today and Im really digging it. They have a very Smashing Pumpkins-esque sound.

I concur. I guess beggars can't be choosers, but here's to hoping for better AC/DC dlc!!!

OXM interviewed one of the Harmonix guys, who said "Everlong" is the hardest song on drums. Not that that means it'll be the last song fo sho, though.
 
Basically the Joystiq article says the Ion kit probably isn't worth the high cost of entry, especially when some songs use the hi-hat on the red pad.
 
Puaha finally one of the big game sites understands what I said back when this thread first started - the hi-hat translation (or lack of it) is flawed.

No h/h peddle + not translating existing songs, means that there's really no point to getting the expensive set.
 
Well I was more considering the GH4 one as an alternative more than the $300 set. Of course we're still 2 months out so I'm not making an decisions on RB2 vs. GH4 drumset just yet.

The normal set can only support 3, IIRC.
 
The OXM podcast last week had the lead designer of RB2 on for an interview, and he said that Panic Attack is the final song of the drum career.

so it seems that the game only will be released September 14... while the game with the instruments won't be out until October 19th... the same day it comes out for the PS3...

that's a huge problem in my opinion.

I agree though. I guess I'm not going to get it day 1 since I want the full set.
 
One possible solution is buying the game by itself in September, keeping the receipt, and then buying the bundle in October. Remove the unopened game from the bundle and return it with your September receipt for a refund. That way you can play early but not miss out on the new instruments! Of course, it only works for people who already have an instrument of some sort.
 
I'm not condoning fraud but I wonder how many people will buy the 360 version game only early and then buy the bundle and return the game from it as if it was the first.

Usually the case has not for resale where the barcode is supposed to be.
