Why do people care about the 20 songs so much? I don't even recognize any of those songs.
People WANT their free stuff.
The achievement is both no fail AND no pause, so you were done after pausing.
Ah, I thought they were two separate ones. The game kind of screwed me out of that anyway then, because on song #20, as I was hitting notes, even though I put brand new batteries in my Guitar (I use the GHIII one), it just suddenly "disconnected", not even for a second, and went right back on, the millisecond it did go off, still was enough for me to get the "controller disconnected" screen.

I wouldn't have made it anyway, I only lasted to song 42 without a break, but still, I got screwed out of possibly having that, thanks to either my guitar or the game (I'm leaning towards the game, since I've never had a problem with this guitar - and this also happened one other time in RB).

We have hit an unexpected delay with getting the content online with Microsoft and are working diligently with them to get that resolved. We have suspended sending out the token codes until the content becomes available. Sending out the codes before the content is live will just result in more confusion. We hope to have this resolved in the next 24 hours and apologize profusely for the delay.

We're also working with Sony to get the content up on PS3 and the codes out. More on that as information becomes available.

Again, we apologize for the delay and are working our butts off to get the content out to you.

Maybe it's a sign they should have given us free stuff that is good.

I'm wondering if some of you could help me out here. I'm trying to decide if I should buy Rock Band now so that I will have the instruments and such for when the Beatles game comes out, plus because I think it is a fairly cool idea in general.

My question though is whether I should buy the Rock Band special edition bundle or the Rock Band 2 special edition bundle.

Is there really that much difference between the two sets of instruments apart from 2's being wireless? I've seen very good deals on Ebay for the original full set, but the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger and buying it is the idea in the back of my mind that the instruments for rock band 2 might be far superior, as well as wireless.

Could you guys give me your thoughts about this?

Is it worth it to splurge the extra $ for the Rock Band 2 bundle, or would 1 be good enough? Thanks.

From what I've gathered (I didn't have RB1), the RB2 drums are much superior to the original build. I'd say cough up the extra scratch for the bundle if you don't have any instruments.

I already had two guitars when I got RB2, so I just bought the new drum kit and a RB1 mic from GS (for like 7 bucks!).

Why can't company's just admit to mistakes when they happen, instead of trying to convince people to be patient?
Not that I care about these songs. But I would have preferred to not be lied to about "emails be going out slowly over the next 24 hours". Yeah right.

I don't know what the incident rate is but I've had to replace both the drums and guitar from the special edition of Rock Band 2. You might not have the same issues, but I'm still pissed so I'm venting.

Do you have to recognize a band or hear it off the radio or MTV in order to like them or be interested?

I think they have actually done a pretty good job. They were supposed to come out Tuesday, asked for people to be patient and apologized. Now they realize it is a bigger problem then they once thought and essentially have admitted to as much.

Yes and they admit they fucked up. So what the hell more can you want? Outside sucking your wang or giving you free crap they did all they could do. They tried to get it out late but on the same day, after seeing that wouldnt happan they announced it for the next day and now that there is an issue they have said sorry there is an issue, we apologize and hope to have it fixed soon. Not much else they could do. Now if after a week or so this isnt fixed then yes they are slacking and should be handing out free shit and cow towing.

Agreed.
Do you have to recognize a band or hear it off the radio or MTV in order to like them or be interested?
You music elitists crack me up. I haven't listened to the radio for months or watched MTV for years. Recent purchases included Beck, Neil Young, Rush, Van Halen, Eagle Seagull, Broken Social Scene, The Cure, The Mother Hips and Slipknot. I listen to previews of every single discount album that Amazon, Rhapsody and Zune offer and sometimes will spend hours just clicking through links in their stores listening to all kinds of bands I've never heard of.

Now, if you can offer a real reason why I should be excited by these tracks (i.e. a song or band that is good and why or the number or hours you play a week that necessitates a large weekly download fix), you could actually contribute to this thread. Otherwise I'll just patiently wait and play through the songs when they're available. If its good stuff I might buy some music like I did with The Mother Hips.

I just thought it was odd that people were getting as upset as they were.

The fact you got to name bands means shit to me. All I was getting at was that it's abunch of lesser known bands and bound to be something good coming from it, so reason enough to be interested and it was never implied as being music elitist, but just to give something new a chance.

And I've contributed to this thread more then you, so if you want to quit being a dick then be my guest.

Plus as stated earlier, it's fucking free, so why not be interested?
So what the hell more can you want?
My download code by 5 p.m. tomorrow.

The suck on my wang didn't sound too bad though...

I don't know why people are going crazy about this. The songs kind of suck, but granted I guess they are free, HMX seem honest and they keep us up to date on things which I like a lot. They try hard and do a good job just calm down leave them alone; when it is ready you will get them very soon.

i'm happy with Harmonix/EA. i sent them a drum kit that had the shit beat out of it and they sent me a fixed one. now i have 2 b/c i was certain that they wouldn't fix it and couldn't wait for a reply from them. i don't mind waiting for the songs since i don't really know what i'm getting anyway.

I had to have my RB2 guitar replaced because the blue fret button didn't work right and I'm not too sure the kick pedal on the drums is working right either. It could be the chair I am sitting in though, it doesn't provide a good height for my foot on the pedal.

If I take my hand and place it against the pedal and push it down really fast, it will register maybe half of the beats. I'm not sure how far the pedal needs to come back up in order for it to register though.

If anyone has any insight, let me know. It wouldn't be too big of a deal to get the pedal replaced.

For the most part, yeah. People like me, who like mostly old rock, and some new bands that play old style, don't really like the new bands. They just aren't my style. I'd probably like maybe 2 songs out of those 20, if that. They just don't make music like they used to. Like my friend always says, "They made so much good music in the 60s, 70s and 80s so we'd have something to listen to in the 90s and 00s."

Actually there are a lot of new bands and new material that likely fit your criteria. What gets played on the radio changes with time. The music being made doesn't change much.

Of course, I've also met people that no matter what new music you throw at them, they really only like the old stuff. Nostalgia and music are the same thing to them.

I Used to be that way too, but after being dragged to abunch of concerts by friends and kinda realized there are some good bands out there. Also it doesn't hurt that majority of newer bands have cheaper tickets then old bands (especially merch wise).
Harmonix is coming to me and my friend's Rock Band night next Friday. I'm nerdily excited and eager and going to convince them to not put Coldplay as DLC ever.
Tell 'em to make Does It Offend You, Yeah? DLC. Dawn of the Dead would work.

Haha I would agree.

Oh my friggin God! That is easily one of the best and original song requests I've heard yet and I'm kicking myself for having that as my custom title and not thinking that myself. That and would easily fill the void of Freezepop well.

Can you hear the music from your wheelchair, or do you need like a big cone shaped thing stuck in your ear?

(I love oldies but have little sympathy for people who are stuck in the past.)

Wow I really am starting to think that the GH guys are trying to lose to RB. The one feature it seems that people seem to think GH has over RB is the music editor and even that people have complained about how hard it is to use. Well turns out that the GH guys now are saying they are thinking of making it so the game will include a monthly fee to download the songs produced by the editor!

Seriously, I started this gen a GH fan....maybe not a fanboy but deffintly a fan. Now I am a Rock Band fan but also a supporter because of how badly the GH guys have handled things. Sad.

Hey, it's not my fault that most of today's bands suck. I agree there are some good ones (Disturbed, Audioslave, Shinedown, System of a Down), but for the most part, they just don't make good music. I'm open minded and listen to the radio for new bands a lot, but I just don't like them. Let's just hope Led Zeppelin is still on the radio when I get old.

They're really trying to charge for that crap? I'd say a good 95% of the songs on there are just achievement gaining songs. Then of that leftover 5%, maybe half of them are decent. I've seen some good work on there, namely Megaman music. Kudos to those talented and patient enough to make some good tracks but they need to filter out the trash. In general the interface is just a mess.

Even online in GHWT, there is a lot of bitching on the interface. I expected to hear some Rock Band bashing but I had a full band going the other day in agreement that RB is superior. When I'm done cheesing, I'm selling GH and the new guitar. Maybe I'm too used too the broader neck of the strat/real guitars, because the GH guitar's short/thick/roundness cramps my hand.

On the subject of the 20 song pack, they should have distributed codes ahead of time since they gave a Tuesday release date. It just makes them look bad by not delivering on time.

I love how they tell us that nothing is wrong at first, and just say that the codes will go out Tuesday evening and it will all go out over a 24 hour period.

Now it turns out the shit isn't posted on the servers? Now excuse me, but putting content on the actual servers sounds like something you do early so that you can iron out issues like the current ones they are dealing with.

This better not take a month like the Rush Album. :bomb:

Well, as much as I hate this (the lies about 24 hours), I'm still happy that I own this, instead of Rock Revolution (or whatever Konami's music game is). I actually saw it on a Target clearance End cap already (but no price on it).

So what you are saying is, you are a HARMONIX fan ;) Me too. GH3 was great fun, but Harmonix is where music gaming is at. Still holding out for a XBLA type Amplitude sequel (or even release, though I'm sure it's too big...)

Foo Fighters Baby!! :applause:

Hey everybody,

I am very happy to announce here (before anywhere else) that next week's DLC offering will be the Foo Fighter's The Colour and the Shape album (one of my favorites). With “Everlong” already featured on the Rock Band 2 soundtrack, the DLC album will include the following tracks:

1. "Doll"
2. "Monkey Wrench"
3. "Hey, Johnny Park!"
4. "My Poor Brain”
5. "Wind Up"
6. "Up in Arms"
7. "My Hero"
8. "See You”
9. "Enough Space"
10. "February Stars”
11. "Walking After You”
12. “New Way Home”

The Colour and the Shape will be available for download starting November 11, 2008, for the Xbox®360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and November 13, 2008, for the PS3. Pricing will be $19.99 (1600 Microsoft Points) for the album, or $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) per track. All tracks are masters.

I agree with people that want older music. I want to play this with my nephews and my parents, and my mom isn't going to sing Paramore or the Foo Fighters. Take your sympathy elsewhere, there is enough room in the rock band world for new and old songs.
Wasn't RHCP's album $20 for more songs?
Technically yes. What I think they do is offer a discounted rate of 140 points (as opposed to 160) per song for full album packs, but with a 1600 point cap. So basically any album with 12 songs or more will just get the 1600 price tag. Unless of course they've done an album for more than 1600, in which case my theory is completely debunked.

I think your right BustaUppa. I don't think we will see an album more than 1600 MS Points. You would have to have over 16 songs to even justify paying more.
