Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

This has been one of the slowest price drops I've ever seen on 'zon; dropping 80cents per day almost consistently since I last posted about it in December. Painfully slow.

And as soon as it dropped under 100, a few others bought'em up. Guess I wasn't the only one watching it .

At least I had some credit to use, so 60 out-of-pocket.

Figure it's hard to screw up a tele and the base build seems good. Worst case scenario, I use it as a learning platform for guitar mods/upgrades.

Tried every USB port on my machine, no luck. Just says device not recognized.

Does the PS3 version of the new or original game have a demo? If so I can try it on my PS3 to see if the cable is dead or not.

Are you still able to run the demo version of the game?

I downloaded the old PC version when it was released just to see if my laptop could run it (Win7). And while I could play it, the game would have issues recognizing the cable.

The simple fix was to unplug the cable while the game was running and re-plug it in. The software would then recognize the cable and wouldn't have any issues for the rest of the session.

It was a software problem. BTW, still use that same cable.

Something else to try is to unplug the USB dongle end from the rest of the cable and reconnect it. The RS cable has one of those quick-release ends on the USB side. You start having problems when that part of the connection gets loose.

Just a heads-up, but my tuner from this bundle just sold for $45 an Amazon (about $40 as shipping and fees), so I pretty much got a stand and a set of bass strings and got paid $20. I have no idea why it's selling for so high, when the regular price on that bundle is $47.99.

As for the stand, it is pretty sturdy and folds up super compact.

I didn't have much trouble with string skip saloon. The thing to note is you hit the string when the cowboy comes out on that color. For regular and little guys, you only hit it once. For big guys, you need to hit it twice. And you want to make sure you hit the string of the cowboy closest to you to get the multiplier. I found more often than not, when I lost my multiplier it was because the system failed to recognise my note, rather than a mistake I made. I would suggest muting the string right after you hit the note to prevent a bleed over of sustained notes. This guitarcade game made me wish the 360 had the sharing functions of the PS4, where I could broadcast as I played or make a video and upload it. When I really got going, my scores were skyrocketing, and I wanted to share it, if anybody had been interested. I don't remember how high I got on the leaderboards, but I know it was up there.

And thanks to those who responded about the riff repeater. I found it last night that if I opened learn a song, I could then hit the B button to open it.

I might need to fiddle around with the cable later. I am going to try the cable on another computer tonight. See if it works.

Also the Stagg will make a good guitar for mods/upgrades learning. It wont compare to the real thing. One thing to check is sometimes local music stores will put old guitars on sale and if your lucky you might be able to get a foreign made fender for cheap.

Got my Bandfuse today. i only had a very limited time to mess with it, but it was a favorable experience. i only got to play 3 songs. I opened it and went straight to quicklyplay without taking tutorials. I played on hard difficulty, which I think is two away from every note. i didn't have any trouble reading the scrolling tab. It took me about a minute into the first song to grasp the colored fingers. Mind you, I am not very good at guitar, having only played slightly more than a year.

Overall seems like it may be a good purchase at $32. I will say the Bandfuse cable seems to pick up my high e string much better than the Rocksmith cable.

I decided to buy some more DLC today. Picked up Thrill is Gone by BB King, Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield, and Here Comes Your Man by the Pixies. All of them are surprisingly fun to play. I especially liked Thrill is Gone. Definitely gonna jump on the 2 Albert King songs now. I'm probably also going to pick up the Oasis pack soon.

That's really strange that it disappeared from the game store but you can still download it online.. I think the problem is Ubisoft hasn't had very good organization with the in-game shop, especially the single song section. Some songs are listed by artist first, then title, and some the other way, which screws up the order. It's also not split up by letters which makes it awkward to go through the whole list.

Ok so here is the current problem.

Rocksmith cable sometimes works. Maybe for like 30-40 mins then windows says device not recognized (then I need to uninstall, restart, try to install, pray it works, repeat process if it doesn't). The other problem is I have a hell of an accuracy problem. I spent literally 40 mins on the bends tutorial today. It kept giving me misses even though I know I was playing it right. I even unplugged the cable after windows crapped out and played the part and it sounded almost exact.

Any suggestions?

RS cables DO NOT work with BF. Also, the band pack DOES NOT come with a copy of the game, so there you go.

Steam has had some sales. The sales on console are fewer. In fact, I don't remember many DLC sales on 360 except when they had the big packs - and I already had most of the songs in the packs, so I didn't buy those, either.

I remember sales going on just before 2014 came out. Instead of releasing new DLC they would put random DLC on sale every week. It was hit or miss but it was something at least.. Now they don't even do that. I'd love some sales pretty soon because there are so many songs I want and 3 bucks a song is hurting the bank.

Looks like I need to learn how to read. Just got my store pickup from the Best Buy clearance. I bought a few patch cables and 2 packs of what I assumed were light gauge strings (10s). What I got were 2 packs of 5 .010 high e strings. Looks like its time to practice my bends!

Their shipping can screw up potential purchases for me too. I'd buy more often from them if shipping rates were better.

As it is now, I'll hold off on until I have a decent number of items bunched together on one order to justify it all.

But if that doesn't work, try getting resolved thru Monoprice. They're pretty good on that front.

Should also add that I remember there was al ot of talk last year that Monoprice had cheap'd out on the 2nd gen build of the guitars.

Conspiracy theory goes along the lines that they sold the 1st gen guitars at a loss to garner a good reputation and good reviews. And then cut corners on the 2nd gen line, but obviously the site still had all those GOOD reviews up.

Gotcha. Are the strings binding at the nut? Ya know, that little PING sound when you try to tune.

My beloved Epi LPjr is starting to have that problem on the G & B strings.

A couple of funny things from playing Rocksmith last night:

I was playing the Guitarcade game Star Chords last night, and I already had the achievement in a different run for getting over 10,000,000 but was trying to push my score higher.  I was on level 7 and doing well, and part-way through the game, it stopped switching chords.  It just gave me C#m over and over again, instead of switching to different chords.  I was probably at about 6 million points when it stopped switching, and I was well over 40 million before it started changing chords again.  I got a really high spot on the leaderboard, but I kind of felt like I cheated.  My previous high was around 12 million.  Has anyone else had star chords mess up and stop switching chords?

Also...working on the DLC of Jeremy from Pearl Jam.  I can master the whole song, except the first lick, which is just simple harmonics (unless I am reading the chart wrong).  It is constantly saying I miss most of the notes, even though I can hear the harmonics I am playing, and I know they are on time.  I have done the harmonics lesson, and I know my harmonics register correctly in the lesson.  Has anybody else had issues with this song, or harmonics registering in general?

Harmonics shouldn't make a "soft plink" sound. They should ring clear and really resonate. Some people say it sounds like a bell. To me it sounds like hitting a tuning fork. If you still think you're doing it right try switching to the neck pickup and adjust the tone knob to its brightest setting.

That's what I meant. It sounds like a soft bell. I'm sure I'm doing it right. I've even seen videos on youtube and it's the same. Probably need to play around with the settings.

Guys, looking for some advice with troubleshooting, I picked up a used amazon bundle and I can not get the guitar to calibrate.... in fact, it does not pick up anything on screen when I strum.  Is this an issue with the tone cable?  This being the first time I've picked up a guitar, I'm kind of newbish to figuring out how to resolve the issue since the cable is not something readily available and I do not have another guitar to try.  Any help would be appreciated!
