Rogers Video's 2 for $40: Location & Stock

tigerhawk33

CAGiversary!
Hi there. I decided that this would be a good time to start a new thread. The other thread was alright, but I wanted to show what I've seen and which location(s) that I've been too. The main point of this new thread is to help out each other here at CAG by telling each other what stores have what, or which stores to avoid.

Anyway, I've only been to the Kipling & Dixon Rd. RV here in Toronto so far, and here's what they have:

PS3 (only 2 titles):
Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End
Motorstorm

Xbox360:
Eragon
Quake4 (no box)
Viva Pinata
Cabela's Big Hunt
Project Gotham Racing 4 (no manual)
Tony Hawk's Project 8
Surf's Up

Wii:
Godzilla Unleashed
Petz Dogs2
Monkey Ball
Bionicle

Lots of PS2 & Xbox titles. Happy hunting ppl! Please post what you find and which location(s) that you've gone too. Thx!

edit: My brother told me that he went to the Wellesley & Yonge location and they had nothing of interest. There's also one RV East of Yonge on Bloor St. but they only sell new games and don't have any 2 for $40.

Ok, I've been to 8 RV's in the past day or so. I may have forgotten the exact title of some games, but please try to understand that I tried my best to write down as much as possible. Here is what I've come across:

Albion Rd./Finch location:
please see my previous post on page 2

Kipling/Dixon:

I really do apologize if I got some of the names wrong or I wasn't able to write down all the proper names. I may have missed a few titles, but there weren't many titles that I felt were noteworthy. I'm a gamer just like most of you, but I felt it wasn't necessary to write down all the titles that most us feel would be like filler items.

There is one thing I should note though: at the Albion location, as I was looking the manager of the store put on the shelf F1 Racing for PS3 and Virtua Tennis 3 for Xbox360. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe they might pull a few titles that I'm not aware of at this moment. I tried my best guys. If I remember a title that comes to mind I'll post it. But there wasn't anything note-worthy to tell you guys. I don't plan on going out again because of the bad snow storm we're going to get here in Southern Ontario. So everyone please drive safe and take care~! Or just relax and play a few games at home.

tigerhawk33 deserves a cookie.
Oh my god NOW it's on. I stopped by TWICE. If you can't trade it, I'd like to buy one for cost for my friend. $25.

Agh.
Yeah it sucks that the ONE day you don't go you miss out. Makes you wish you lived on the Island with magiic, eh? ;)

Don't forget guys, if there is a game you want and it's not available for sale, just ask if they can pull a rental. I did this for two games a while back at the Bloor/Royal York location (Bioshock and Metroid Corruption). Generally won't work for the newest titles, but it's worth it to ask.

Stopped by Ancaster. They weren't running the 2/40, but when they do, they have:

Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)-Some other Wii games like Soul Calibur Legends)
Lair (PS3)
Virtua Fighter 5 (360)
CSI: Game (360)-14.99
Medal Of Honor: Airborne (360)
Viva Pinata: Party Animals (360)
Dirt (360)

If they had 2 for 40, I probably would have walked out with VP: Party Animals and Dirt.

They also had Condemned for 19.99 NEW.

I picked up Spider Man: Friend or Foe MINT for 19.99 and got a free copy of Shoot 'Em Up (CLIVE OWEN!!!!) thanks to Star Rewards.

I picked up Mass Effect at the North Town location for $20 and my friend picked up something else. There just wasn't enough there that I wanted to buy. I am stoked about Mass Effect though!

Today I went to Capilano in Edmonton and there wasn't much. My friend and I each picked up a copy of that Naruto game on 360, so hopefully it'll be worth it. Can't go too wrong for $20 though.

I grabbed DBZ3 today along with a few ps2 titles such as Tales of the Abyss, Romance of the Three Kingdoms IX, Dragon Quest VIII & Snoopy vs the Red Baron. My Rogers also set up a new PV shelf today for 2/$15 games.

not really as far as I know
I like it though. Is there any chance you'd pick up a copy from your rogers and ship it to me? My girlfriend wants a copy of it for her ps2.

I grabbed Sega Rally Revo (Ps3) and Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) from Upper James in Hamilton.

They're both up for grabs if anyone has other titles to trade.

I went back to Clairview today and got The Simpsons Game (360) and NFS Prostreet (360) Then Skate (360) and Eternal Sonata at the Northgate location in Edmonton. :bouncy:

Nothing decent left at Clairview except for another copy of Simpsons and maybe Soul Calibur legends. Northgate still has Assasin's creed (360) Two Worlds (360) Simpsons Game (360). Can't remember much else but probably worth a trip just for Assasin's Creed and to see what else you might like.

Also I wanted to know if they typically come without manuals? I asked for them but they said no. Is there any way to get a manual if I call EA or something?
Also I wanted to know if they typically come without manuals? I asked for them but they said no. Is there any way to get a manual if I call EA or something?
Ask them to pull a manual off any rental copies.

I know the Nintendo store sells individual game manuals: not sure if MS/Sony/etc. have something similar.

My Rogers gave me a free master chief helmet stand thingy from the legendary edition when I went to return a movie at lunch today. It was my "best customer at the store" award lol.

I just got back from Capilano in Edmonton and they were pretty lacking, so I didn't pick anything up. I was tempted to get Sega Rally Revo (360) or Geometry Wars (Wii), but I decided against it. There was also Flatout (360) and Tony Hawk Proving Ground (360), but nothing that really interested me a whole lot.

I tried Downtown Edmonton and North Town today....Downtown still had the deal on but no games, but North Town had games...but they told me it was over. Bah!

Thanks for the heads up on the sale. I was able to pick up Super Mario Galaxy and Overlord today for 30 bucks after using 20 points that I'd racked up.

The Stittsville (Outside Ottawa area) Rogers Video near the independent has two copies of Devil may cry 4, two copies Assassins Creed for the 360 and a copy of Eternal sonata. Some good DS games but they were around $19.99 anyway. Nothing good for the PS3 or Wii.

Wow, all my Rogers gives me, if I am very, very, very, very lucky, is a "thanks for shopping". Stupid foos.

At my Rogers, Stratford ON, there are copies of Mass Effect, Sega Rally Revo, Viva Pinata: PA, Katamari, N3 as notables.

Also, has anyone seen a 2/$30 bin at their rogers? No, it is not from pulled rental games, but from very old games from their new games wall, like GTA LCS, Burnout Dominator, etc.
I havent seen that bin as 2/$30 in awhile. I did manage to grab Folklore from the sale yesterday.
I'm pretty sure there's a "magiic" bin at his local Rogers. It's also known as the "previously played games for sale" bin. :D

dang, I wanted to get dmc4 and eternal sonata as well. I may go by there after work today.
The rogers here is awesome. The guys are great. They even waived my over-due fee on smash bros yesterday.
Course, the thousands you spend at that store more than jusify it.
Course, the thousands you spend at that store more than jusify it.
Precisely. :)

I almost got Lost Odyssey today as it was in the pull pile but unfortunately one of the staff guys called in to reserve it lol. I did get Dragon Quest Swords though

I do actually I'm on first name basis with 90% of the staff including the store manager. They all also know me by name. I usually go once a day or at least once every two days ( rent a lot of stuff, check for sales or good clearance or just cheap PV stuff). The store is about 10 minutes walking from my house and it's only about a 2 minute walk from my high school so it's not hard to stop by at lunch and see whats going on. The guys (and girls) that work there are great and always make it a fun shopping experience.

I haven't been looking much, but I stopped today and nothing good was pulled. Good excuse to finish what I already have, I guess.
somewhat off topic - does anyone know if RV is open tomorrow (good friday)?
I'm not 100% sure, but I'm quite positive they'll be open. They're open Christmas Day...so I figure they'll be open tomorrow.
thats awesome news
means we've got one more pull left
WHAT!!!!:bomb:

I'm shocked that they dont let their BEST customer go to their rental section and pull the titles he want himself.....

Why even bother renting? ;)

Checked the Oak and 15th location today: promotion still on, with stock almost exactly the same as I'd left it a couple weeks ago.

Well the rogers closest to me is officially the worst rogers ever. They never do the 2 for 40$ deal and all of their pre-played games are crap prices, not to mention they never have anything better than tennis games in the pre-played section.

Anyways, I keep getting jealous of the deals I hear people getting on here so I made one last effort to try to cash in on the deals and made a tour of west Ottawa and checked out 5 other Rogers Videos I actually found some decent stores! Only 3/5 of the stores actually had the deal, but they all had much better prices for preplayed games (ie highest was only 30$).

I ended up picking up PGR 4 from Carling and Maitland for 20$ (great game). And Eternal Sonata and Dead Rising from Stittsville with the 2 for 40$ deal. So I was pretty happy with getting 3 games for 60$.

Stittsville had the best selection. Carling and Maitland was pretty good too. Centrum Kanata was abysmal (although they did have Eternal Sonata). Woodruffe wasn't that great. Maitland was decent.

I didnt find any "hoarder" games (i.e. new games that people would pick up just for the sake of it, like COD4, DMC4, Mass Effect, etc., although I'm not a hoarder, except for myself lol), so I want able to find Devil May Cry, but was happy with the games I found. Only wish the Rogers right by me gave me something decent every once in a while!

I assume you are referring to Bank and Gilmour? If so, trip to Stittsville could have been a rough trip. Good thing you got something from it. It seems like deals are getting better as you go away from downtown...

I've actually had great success with Kanata Centrum. They're kind of hit of miss in terms of my interests when the sale starts, but they always seem to have a pretty decent selection right when the sale begins. I've seen them with NHL 08, PGR 4, Madden 08, Halo 3, Blue Dragon, Oblivion, and Dead Rising in November. You pretty much just have to get there right when it starts, I guess. I don't really go to any other Rogers in Ottawa, so I can't really comment otherwise.

Oh, the crap one I am used to is the one at Richmond and Carling.

I would try to check the one at Richmond when the sales supposedly started, but they never have it, so I'll probably just start checking other ones instead... Carling and Maitland was decent.

Dave17 I go to the Stittsville location at least once a week (I buy groceries near there). Last week was the first time I've seen anything half decent at that location. There's a lot of employees that play games they take most of the good stuff. One of them was even bragging about it a few months ago when I was there trying to find good games.

Yea, I figured employees might be a reason for the poor selections at times. If they're gamers you cant really blame them, I would do the same if I worked there (that is I would try to get first dibs, I wouldnt gloat though! that's just being a pain in the ass).

"All pre-played games should scan at the same price, even though they have inconsistent labelling."

I'm not sure how to interpret that. Does that mean that if they have a new pre-played game with a 50$ sticker and an older pre-played game with a 20$ sticker they should scan at the same price?

What he means is that just because a game is stickered at $49.99 for example does not mean it will scan at $49.99. The stickers are often not up to date.
