Rough Guide to uncommon current generation Games and Guides

I think Disney Golf for PS2 should be added to the list. It's not worth much, but it's definitely uncommon.

Frogger Beyond should be on the Xbox list as well.

Ok, I have updated the list with suggestions from shipwreck, donssword, and Gothic_Walrus.

Please include rough ebay values with suggestions.

Thankyou all

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne is another hard to find game. I have found several copies of it in my area but I know many have a difficult time finding this game judging from the amount of people looking for it on the trading boards.

I don't know where to stand on Fatal Frame II for Xbox or PS2 being "rare".

I can go to the nearest 5 game stores, find the game in 4 if not 5 of them new for the Xbox. In the ones that sell used games I can find the PS2 version in 2 out of 3. The only thing is that it's still selling for $49.99 new and $44.99 used respectively. So does the price still being high mean it's rare? I don't think so.

Same thing is true of Resident Evil 2 & 3 for the Game Cube. I could probably find 5 copies of each in an afternoon of driving. I don't think it's rare, just expensive.

About the Skies of Arcadia strategy guide, did they even make a Game Cube one? I don't remember if they even rereleased the guide or they even did a reprint after the Dreamcast version tanked.

rarity also depends on your region. I probably cant find half them games in my city, yet if i head 3 states over i can x.x

to me an actual rare title will be hard to find no matter your region

On another note...WTF to NCAA 2K3 getting $49.99 in recent auctions. That's insane who would have thought a 2 year old sports game would fetch $50.
only a small shipment were actually sent out. This was back when Sega made the announcement of no future Sports titles for the GC

The Skies of Arcadia strategy guide was for Gamecube. There is no guide for the Dreamcast Version (the Gamecube one would probably work fine), in english at least. Could you be getting it confused with the Phantasy Star Online guide?

Thanks to Kevtones, Updated! Keep em commin!

Anyone else having trouble getting on digitpress' website? I haven't been there before but I don't think that's what it should look like. :D

I have to add a rare book from Nintendo. It's not a strategy guide, but I have a comic book of Mario World and a comic book of Zelda: LTtP. They sell for $50+ on ebay, but there is NO way I'd ever let them go. GOt them from Nintendo Power close to 12 years ago I think. Amazing. Sorry if off topic, but they are rare.

Car Battler Joe is definitely uncommon, but I wouldn't say it fetches $30 or more on ebay. In fact, I just sold mine minty fresh and complete for $15, unfortunately. Was hoping for a lot more.

u can add the legend of zelda collector's guide to the rarity list, i remember i bought 3 of them from a meijer awhile ago for $5 apiece and flipped em on ebay for $40 each.

Maybe in PA, but not in VA. Fatal Frame 2 for XBox never hit the major retailers down here that I recall. Whne the PS2 version was released, I saw limited copies at retailers that sold out quickly with no restocks.

Also, what about Zone of the Enders 2 for PS2? Or, for that matter, Gungrave (PS2) and Ephemeral Fantasia (PS2)? None of these are super-rare, but there's only a handful of copies on ebay at any one time and they seem to sell for higher than expected prices.

I sold an used ZOE2 for $15.50 before shipping on eBay on July 4th. I can pick it up at Blockbuster used for $16.99 before taxes and B2G1 savings. Also, the July 4th weekend tends to depress prices by a few dollars.

I've been selling new Gungrave: Overdose for $13.99 before shipping this week. (Ah, a 40% margin. Thanks, CAG!) Of course, that isn't the Gungrave you're talking about.

I sold Ephemeral Fantasia a few months ago for less than $10.

A neat feature on eBay is the average selling price. As long as you know what you're selling, you can find the average selling price on video games midway through the listing process. I use it for research. The feature had been broken for the last month, but it looks like they fixed it in the last day or two.

Already on the list, I have 2 copies that I hope to sell soon...

Agreed, the list is YMMV. Some areas have games that others do not.
Shrek Super Party fetched $76 sealed on PS2. Its tough to come by.
Ugh ... Is this seriously at this level of pricing? I still have two sealed copies my GF and I bought at Sam's for $7.xx each since we didnt know the other had bought it. Never bothered to open it and play it.

PS2-

.hack series
Suikoden 3
atelier iris (was oop but re-activated for a bit longer)
amplitude (prices have gone down a bit on it, but still a hard game to find B & M)

GC

Resident Evil 2/3
Arx Fatalis and Tsugunai: Atonment are both rare games as far as I know.
Arx Fatalis for Xbox was on EBgames site this morning. I posted the link to it cos I had never seen it on there before.

Not sure if it has been discussed, or if you are aware of this but the reason the Guy game is so rare is because it was pulled for containing "child pornography" I use the " " because the girl was technially illegal at teh time she signed the release ( 17 yrs old) she had no idea ( they never told her) she would be used in a game, when she found out she sued, won, and all copies were pulled from the shelf.

I have an addition for the Gamecube list - Rally Championship.

In the past year, I've only seen two copies, including the one I bought. No GameStop within 200 miles of me has a copy. There's not much demand for it since it's a racing title nobody knows about (it goes for $9.99 used at GameStop and $12.99 used at EB), but I still advise Gamecube collectors to keep an eye out for it because it will get harder to track down.

Yeah, I've definitely never seen that before...I'll keep an eye out!
thanks for the list.Just picked up FD18 today.didnt know it was uncommon.
I just picked it up yesterday as well. Blockbuster 25% off sale made it $20.31. But Im pissed cos I went to pull off this metal security strip off the top of the disc and it took some of the disc printing off with it! Now I can see right thru the disc! Looks like it has a hole in it! Still seems to work fine tho, but Im still pissed about that. :bomb:

It may SEEM like it works fine, until you get the a loading screen that can't load because you ripped off some of the game data.

You're screwed and your disk is essentually worthless, take it back to blockbuster and say it doesn't work, they might swap it out for you. I did that once when I broke a disk IN HALF cleaning it.

Yeah, immoral, I know. But it was a clearance game they had 20 copies of (Shadowman 2)

New copies are still being sold at all the EBs and GameStops in my area. If the title was supposed to be pulled, those stores didn't get the memo.

It technically wasn't pulled, there was a lot of "he said/she said" going on with this, but at the end of the day, it WASN'T removed from shelves. Also, in another technical sense, it wasn't child pornography.

That's true. Most of you have probably seen American Pie, Shannon Elizabeth wasn't 18 yet when she filmed the bedroom scenes, yet that isn't considered child pornography because it was for artistic purposes.

The thing with The Guy Game had to do with her being under 18 but not because of the child pornography aspect but rather something much more simple. It had a lot to do with the fact that the girl was under 18 and therefore could not enter into a contract without her parents/guardians.

I've got a Rally Championship on ebay right now, missing manual though. I've got a few with manual that I'll be listing in the next couple weeks though.
