I think it should just be RPG Thread X and then a bunch of random made-up words like it was made by Gust or latter-day Square-Enix.

Too bad there aren't really any JRPGs to speak of coming out in the near future.

About all there is is a sequel to Agarest War and that's technically an SRPG.

Three were announced today actually:

tri-Ace announced a PSP game called Frontier Gate (Monster Hunter-esque with turn-based battles) and a 3DS game called Beyond the Labyrinth (with Konami): http://www.destructoid.com/tri-ace-announces-a-3ds-and-psp-game-199743.phtml

Also, Atlus is publishing one from Team Etrian/Team Atelier, not that this one will ever come to America: http://www.destructoid.com/team-etrian-odyssey-and-team-atelier-joint-rpg-coming-199750.phtml

In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if none of these make it over.

Frontier Gate sounds interesting.

But as far as NA games coming out, we blew our load at the beginning of this year, and now it's dry.

It's not an RPG, but we're getting Catherine this year.. And, umm.. Wow, you're right, we've got nothin'.

Devil Survivor 3DS is coming out in June. Y'know if you don't own it already and actually have a freaking 3DS. Yeah otherwise we are empty.

I'm much more excited for Devil Survivor 2, since the first one is one of the best RPGs on the DS IMO, though that doesn't even have a firm Japanese release date yet, so who knows when we'll get it.

Maybe we'll get lucky and Tales of Graces will drop this year. Other than that, I'm really not looking forward to anything else.

Isn't FFXIII-2 suppose to come out this year?

That because Japan is pretty much focusing all their RPGs on PSP, but in the USA PSP is probably going to be dead by the end of the year. Square even took the unusual move of release 4 PSP games within 3 months because a lot of stores aren't even carrying FFIV.

We are still getting Tales of Graces F, Disgaea 4, and maybe Xenoblade, so there should be something

Catherine this summer yo, plus RPGs in general don't come out too often. I can't name too many WPRGs either. ME3 and Skyrim being possibilities for holiday season? I don't know.

If XIII-2 comes out before Versus that would be lovely. Kind of pathetic though.

Very excited for Type-0 (Agito). The only dual disc PSP game? Exciting.

Right, Disgaea 4, I knew I was forgetting something. I doubt Graces F comes this year, though you never know.

I still think Nintendo is going to announce that both Xenoblade and The Last Story are being localized at E3, but I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to these things.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't 2012 (at least).

I can't wait till Catherine comes out this year, it's developed by Atlus, so it should be excellent (you can get a demo of it on the Japanese Xbox Live Marketplace)
I was very surprised to learn the Wii is region locked.
Has a Nintendo home console ever not been? Even the SNES had the physical region locking thing.

I'm excited too, though Sexy Q*bert is definitely not an RPG.

You never know, if they're not making any changes to the game engine, reusing Gran Pulse assets, and got started right after XIII's release, it could be ready pretty soon. They re-engaged Ali Hillis for the trailer, which suggests that the scenario is complete and they're already working on the English dub. (Or I guess those lines could have been recorded during her sessions for Dissidia 012...)

Legend of Heroes SC is also 2 disc game
I thought the times had changed =[
Change for the worst maybe. Just off the top my head that some PSP games we might never see in English.

Akiba's Trip
Criminal Girl
Gungnir
Grand Knight Chronicle
Gloria Union
Half Miinute Hero 2
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd
Tales of the Last Promise
Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity
Valkyria Chronicles III

DS
Dragon Quest Monster Joker 2

We probably will see
Final Fantasy Type 0 - however stores not willing to carry FFIV is a very bad sign.
Persona 2 - we will likely see it since SMT games did pretty good and they censored some stuff in Japanese version.
Legend of Heroes SC- The first game did well and they already recorded all the voice acting.

Edit: Add Terror of the Stratus to another PSP game we will never see

That's ok, I've still got a backlog to go through. There's those PSN PSOne Wild Arms games I'd like to play too. And I also have Resonance of Fate, Arc Rise Fantasia, and Hyperdimension Neptuna too.

I'd also like to get Crimson Gem Saga again and play it.

Black Rock Shooter has been confirmed as well IIRC.
Best Buy sells 3 year old games for $60.
Thanks, you just gave me a terrifying Circuit City flashback. I'm not going to sleep soundly for weeks. :D
Why is VCIII on your list of not coming stateside? Did the second game do bad in sales?
The decline of PSP is a bigger reasion.
For FFIV, Wal-Mart, Target, Gamestop and Amazon have it but I know Best Buy doesn't even have it on their website.
K-Mart and Best Buy did not carried FFIV. Josh said they made a business decision not to carry it. Target.com has it but not B&M store
I really want Gloria Union... Unfortunately, we only saw Yggdra Union here, and not Blaze/Unison, so it's not going to happen.
Well Blaze/Unison are side games, but Gungnir is a main game and we might not see that

Forgot I left out White Knight Chronicle 2 and PSP. 2 is getting a release from D3, but PSP version is Europe only so far.
DS
Dragon Quest Monster Joker 2
This continues to sadden me to no end :whistle2:( Still holding onto a shred of hope that the upgraded version will make it over.

Not on a handheld, but I think we'll see Rune Factory Oceans localized as well. When has a Harvest Moon game not come out stateside?
Black Rock Shooter has been confirmed as well IIRC.
I have my doubts about the quality of this one. The BRS OVA was mediocre and I wouldn't be surprised if the game was a similar sort of cash-in.

Any Oblivion mod suggestions? I've started it twice now, and haven't even opened my Shivering Isles, but figure while the 360 is out of commission I'll give it another go. Haven't played it since it came out so my mods are guaranteed out of date. I tried looking online, and there are just waaaaaay too many mods, so what do you guys recommend as the best?

You definitely want the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, which will do a lot of useful stuff for interface, game balance, etc. I'm not as up on my Oblivion mods these days either, but there's also several good mods which make people quite a bit less ugly (I use Beautiful People, but there are other good ones).

Best Buy is selling it in store, I saw 3 copies at one this afternoon.
It is worth every penny even at full price
Agreed. I finally got my UK LE yesterday, and it went right in the PSP.

Yeah, that really is a very good article. I'd heard bits and pieces of how Square's localization team beefed up over the years, but it's good to have an article putting it all together like this.
