I'd say, just in case, stick to the specialty video game shops, because it isn't 100% confirmed in other stores (IE I've tried Best Buy, but they refused to say anything.)
ers! I seriously hate when they do this shit.
Try to get more people to buy it?
Its basically just a price drop. You know they were going to do something when the competition came out, thats what you get for being an early adopter.
Eh, this is just the first of many price drops. The system has been out for almost a year now...no big surprise. Give a few more years and the premium bundle will be $199.00. I still won't buy one.

qft...same thing happened to me with the DS and now this...Makes me wonder if I'll ever get a system again at launch.

Dont tell me you were thinking that when you bought the 360, you thought it would retail at 399.99 forever or that M$ would never try to sweeten the deal.
now we need one of those places that gives you 10% off for applying for their credit card to have this bundle. All that stuff for $360 sounds even better than $400.
btw, wouldnt $360 have been the perfect price to launch the 360 at?
... the system has been out for less than a year and they are already throwing in extras? When the PS2 was 15 months old it was still $299 and did not come with a game. The Xbox 360 will barely only be 10 months old and its already seeing a sort of price drop.

With the Wii and PS3 around the corner you knew Microsoft was going to do something. When the PS2 was out they really didnt consider Microsoft and Nintendo big competition so they didn't need to do anything when those systems launched. This is a nice deal but I dont regret buying a 360 at launch because of this. Everyone knew it was either this or a price drop. And this makes more sense because of the retail price of the PS3.
PGR3 - $29 (I know it's current retail price is $49.99)
1250 Live points - $12
4 months free of Live - $12 (I guess it's a 3-month card + 1 month free for new consoles)
So this bundle can be deemed as a solid price drop around $50.
Not sure how this would make a huge difference. Most casual gamer are not going to be too concern with the live stuff, and PGR3 isnt the must have game.

It makes a BIG difference to parents. Parents remember buying a NES or whatever and not having to buy an extra game with the console. Now, when parents are comparing a 360 or PS3, they will take that into account. 360 + game (parents don't know crap if it's good or not) for $399 or $599 plus another $60-70 for a game. NO BRAINER FOR THE PARENTS THAT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT GAMES, WHICH IS MOST OF THEM.

Out of the 3 Microsoft games that are on the system PGR3 is the must have game, there is a reason it is still $49 and the others are $29($19 this week).

Good point, I think more than half of gamers are under the age of 16... parents could care less about a ps3 or xbox 360, they just want their kid to shut up... some parents use videogames as baby sitters because they are so busy with work and then they complain about GTA, etc...
A dick that continued to dominate the other consoles even though it was still full priced.
please don't misconstrue my remark as fanboy-ish; i realize that's how it kinda sounded... i own a PS2 (actually i've owned two of them -- bought my first on launch). it's got some good games to be sure, but Sony still made sure that the PS2 remained a ugly, bent phallus.
This is no surprise, the system has no competition yet and they're sitting on store shelves everywhere. I've been working at a BJs for the summer now and when we sold one of the two that were sitting right in front of all the registers everyone working was shocked. (I've seen a few PS2s sold however)
This is appealing, but I can't justify buying one until I've beaten all of the non-backwards compatible games on my original Xbox first. By then, the bundle will probably be gone. Oh well.

using that logic they are more likely to buy a PS2 or gamecube.
Nice, but I can't really justify spending $400 on a 360 yet, w/ PGR or not. The list of titles out just isn't enticing enough yet, especially given the flop that PDZ turned out to be (I loved the original, but THIS... ugh).
Still, glad to see Microsoft hard at work making the 360 more appealing. Between upcoming games and future price drops, I'll probably be picking one up around summer '07, though. The Wii will tide me over until then.

I agree. Although, ever since the Xbox was packaged with a free game, the "bundle" (whichever one that may be), never stopped. Microsoft may change the game, but chances are the bundles are here to stay (in some shape or form).

Can someone please link to me an english website that shows this deal in detail? I just barely ordered my 360 from dell and now i'm pissed. I want to call them and make them give a better deal, but they will want proof of my claims.
