Saint's Row 2 - Gen. Discussion & Info

Yeah i got past the crowd control using bats. Pretty easy. Before i was trying to throw them all. I didnt realize i even picked up a bat till i read to use them in this thread. Still having problems with the drug trafficking on the top island. Level 6 is a bitch. Trying it in co-op is even worse.

How are the races in this game...are they many laps, or a drag race? Are they hard? I hate races in games like these. GTA IV races were so simple though.

Im up to 83% of the game complete. Co-op is still really fun.

Question on male vs. female character. Since this is a continuation of the story from the first one, if you're a woman now, are there all kinds of references about you changing sexes or does the game treat it like you weren't there in SR1? Or does it treat it like you were always a female in SR1?

Thanks in advance, I have the game unwrapped but not played yet.

You get the same basic "You look different since the last time I saw you" conversations.

"Did you do something to your hair?"

"I get that alot"
Also, I loved the ones on the top of the hotel because you could throw people off the roof. This lead to my new favorite pastime, which is sticking a satchel charge to people, throwing them into traffic and detonating.
I saw a security guard grab a fan and throw them into the helicopter blades and they went poof, so from then on, I kept doing the same thing.

The satchel charges thing is fun, but you could also do that in San Andreas. It wasn't nearly as much fun, though.

I saw a civilian rob a bar the other day, first time I've seen a civilian do that. The game told me that I can "hold up" civilians by placing the gun over them, the same way you rob stores. This worked two or three times, but I've tried to do it since then, and nothing happens. Lame.

You're pressing in the right thumbstick, right?

Yeah, I've switched between playing as a girl and guy a couple of times thus far, and I think I'm sticking with playing as a girl. It is pretty non gender specific, but a few times I've had people say something to the effect of "aren't you the guy who got blown up?" when I was a girl. I'm personally trying not to think that my female character used to be a dude.

Crap I have to that as soon as I get home!!!:applause:
I found my new favorite sadistic act. Looking for old people with oxygen tanks + bullet = kaboom! :D
lol, didn't even think of shooting the tank. I do always kill old people though. I don't know what it is, but I just can't resist throwing you into traffic if you have a cane/walker/oxygen tank.

Escort is really crappy. Its easy till you get to level 5-6. The car they give you is slow as hell. How are you supposed to outrun vans that are faster than you? Then i bought a 50,000 dollar speed car to use and when i start the mission its gone. Then i quit the mission right away to get my car back, and its still gone. Thanks!!! Any tricks to beating this?

If you can't outrun them, shoot them.

You know how hard that is? I hate trying to drive and shoot at the same time. Even with cruise control, shooting behind you and trying to drive and see whats in front of you is impossible. Co-op makes it even harder.

Do races count towards 100%? I just did a couple and noticed that the map doesnt say if you beat them or not. That is really lame considering all the other activities will say if you completed them.

It isn't that hard, it is the driving that sucks, but cruise control makes it easier. But it still sucks pretty bad, call in a friend or pick one off the street to help. I did that with strongholds and drug trafficking an it worked.

So far I've thought the game was pretty easy but this afternoon I hit a sucession of brick walls. I breezed through all the hospital attack heli missions until the 6th one where there's all the sudden three cars and two enemy choppers at all times. I think I finished the other set of six, but this one just seemed near impossible.

Then I tried the demolition derby and I can't even pass the first one. Any tips on that? I ended up just finishing off the hitman lists and getting started on the chop shop ones.

Keep using Nitrous in the derby. Before I discovered that, I couldn't get past the first one either. After I figured it out, I breezed through all six levels.

What's up with you and the lack of spoiler tags? This is two things you've potentially ruined now.

Point your gun at people and click in the right stick to go into fine aim mode?

Just saying... that's twice now, the first one actually being something fairly big. I don't want to pop in here tomorrow and have the ending waiting out in the open or anything.

After co-oping with a few people, i tend to think they dont put much time into making their character (or maybe i spend too much time). I dunno, unless when you co-op their models turn into a simple form of their guy to help online connection? Anyway here is what my guy looks like currently. I wouldnt mind seeing who others have made.

Haha, I am a.......guess you could say 70's gangster. I am rockin some bellbottoms and a purple shirt with a light brown blazer suit coat. I downloaded the UFO and it is pretty weak, I expected some lasers or something.

Your character kind of looks like Tyson Tomko from TNA Wrestling.

I made my guy look like me, the same as I did in the first game, and I have had a few co-op people say he looks plain. The way your character looks in your game is the way others will see him in co-op. The only thing I have noticed that does not always carry over is custom paint jobs on vehicles.

Looks like suicide jumpers are back.

one is in
the grave yard, there is an open grave and a guy whos parachute fails to open falls right into the grave. LOL I went there and heard the scream and splat, but didnt get to see it. Also check the tombs you can walk in for a surprise.

Another one is by
the Plastic surgeon in Saints Row district. He jumps from a building.

Ive also read people see them jumping into the lake.

I also checked out this "Stillwater Triangle" which is in the water north west of the jail. Found something interesting. ;)

Just picked up the game yesterday, played it about four hour's total, loving it. Beat the Ronin section, thou had to play the last mission two times.
After killing the main guy of the Ronin, the game showed me all I unlocked, then black screened. If I pressed the Guide button, the game would say "Game Paused", but nothing happened. Only reason it made me mad is because I hate that sword fight thing for some reason. Really easy once you get the timing right, thou

Now working on the Sons of (forget their name), laughed when I
found the person who "knew everything about drugs" was Laura. Great to see she's back.

I also enjoy the new Fuzz activity. It's just fun. Haven't tried many of the new one's., really want to try Trail Blazer, since I'm confused on what it is going to be.

GTA had the egg, and SR has the other half. Gotta love it.

Was the person that knew everything about drugs in the last game, my memory is fuzzy

Hahaha, checked the tomb labeled "Hawk" and found the surprise. Thats hilarious, especially when it says you have explored the Blank at the bottom left hand corner of the screen.

I also found that "super secret place"... I don't know if that is the Stilwater Triangle, but is definitely funny

Damn i logged in over 60+ hours and im 93% done. Only thing i have left is Tags, CDs, Jumps, races, and barnstorming. Well at least thats what i think i have left.
Was the person that knew everything about drugs in the last game, my memory is fuzzy
Nah, she was the soccer mom with the teenage son. She knew nothing about them in the first game, said she was told by her "colored friend that this was a great money maker". She drove in the minivan when you did her activity.

It's a part of it, but it's not the full egg. The egg of the Triangle is funny.

Hmmm.... well i went into the middle of the triangle and nothing happened. At least where my hidden places map showed. Any advice on where to go to get the funny stuff?

That is pretty funny, the egg. Ummmmmm, funny stuff......look at any store front name and that is funny. Hmmm, other than that I don't know anything else.

Head north of the super secret island until you find the island called "Ruin island". Should see a staircase. Go up it. You will see a wooden arrow, pointing in a direction. Follow it. It will take you to another island, with another arrow. Follow it. Should take you to a third island, with another arrow. Follow it. The final island will have four arrows on the top, and you will fall through the island, where the egg is the presented to you.

All I can say is, Happy Easter.

Anyone have a list of all the secret areas? I cant find the robot house. The best directions i got was its "over the pond and west of the university loft" which really doesnt make sense.

Has anyone seen the merman? Ive seen the billboard, but not him.

PS I got to the secret area in the triangle. LOL.

Here are some secret areas i stole from IGN. Its just a list, so i really dont know where some are.

1) Super secret island
2) Volition Oasis
3) Pirate ship cove island
4) Lost Island
5) Lookout Island
6) Basketball courts under some highway bridge
7) Developers offices
8) Top of Mount Claflin
9) The Pyramid
10) Stilwater church
11) Price Mansion Rubble
12) Stilwater caverns
13) Cemetary Sex Cavern
14) Top of Philips building (the big Ultor building)
15) Ultor Underground mall
16) Lighthouse
17) Dinosaur island
18) Ruin island
19) Nuclear Waste pond
20) Nuke Launch Facility
21) Robot House
22) Skull Cave
23) Stilwater Canals (just west of the Philips building)
24) The Caesars Palace gambling place (its not called caesar, some different greek god but I forgot it(and I THINK this is a 'secret area', can't remember for sure)

I still cant find robot house or the pyramid.

Actually the casino is called Posidens Casino, like the greek ship eater in the ocean from The Odyssey, Not much of a secret place cause you do a mission there.

HAHAHAH, nice billboard

I didn't notice myself on any clothing store billboards yet, I always see my picture on the jewelry store billboards with the same goofy thumbs up pose as pictured above.

Very funny. :D

I just got 100%, took me 69 hours and 6 minutes.

Im wondering if this game goes beyond 100% though. I havent done all races, barnstorming, hidden locations, stunt jumps, blue collar jobs .... etc. Well lets just say i got 100% by doing all missons, strongholds, activities, tags, and cds. There are a lot of diversions i havent completed yet.

If you look on the official site's community section they show that you do not need to do a bunch of the extra stuff to get 100% as you have already noticed.

Well that is interesting that i don't have 100%. The only thing left i have to do is 38 jumps, taxi, tow and fire diversions. I am at 99%.
