Saints Row Official Thread (New map available for download)

I don't even care about the missions.. never did the missions in the GTA games.. a free roam game with no point would be fine with me.

Apparently, you can get drink/get drunk/puke and smoke/get high as well as rob stores in the demo, and as long as you don't do the third mission, the demo doesn't end.
 
Eh. It costs $10 from TRU to get the demo, apparently, so there's very little money to be made. By the time you buy it and the seller ships it out, it'll be everywhere.
 
He blew the train off the freaking tracks, WOW! That was pretty insane, never have seen that before. Dam, I need to get that demo.

Yea, I saw that on an old trailer, it's still impressive.

It seems like this game is all about the small touches.
 
Anyone know if you can return preorders at TRU?

On a related note, my TRU got them in but they "don't have the preorders" yet? It's a piece of paper with Saint's Row printed on it! Damn.
 
Picked one up at Columbia, MD TRU. There's some trailers and videos on it too. TRU returns can be done 45 days after purchase, so that's an option.

Closed auctions for $40, 37 and 24 for a demo???! Idiots on Ebay never fail to amaze me...... I wish i'd found some yesterday, I was going to get two and try to Ebay one real fast but damn I didn't think they would sell for that much! I'm content with waiting for the marketplace hopefully on the 1st.

It was $9.99 just for the demo. I justified it by going to American Eagle for a free movie ticket on the trip.
I thought about picking up more to ebay, but if comes to the marketplace before the auction closes I imagine the value would plummet.
I'm about to dig into it, I'll post impressions later.

What? They are charging $10 JUST for the demo? That price does not come off the final price of the game?

Cleaver just go ahead and list it now and play it untill monday when you'd ship it if it sells this weekend...... The idiots are waiting for you! :D
 
Just called up my local TRU, they have them but they can't give them out until the "promotion" starts. I asked when and they told me to check back tomorrow. WTF?

naw that deal is for any ticket. I might pick up the demo by walking to EB when EB carries it, but driving all the way to TRU isnt worth it. Hope they put it on live though.

for those playing the demo, make sure to try to stack up dead bodies by driving a convertible around :D
 
Decent GTA clone. Keith David is the gang's boss, missions are typical GTA. I beat the hell out of some pedestrians, and some lady didn't react, but she slowed down to scratch her crotch. A type of side mission is called snatch, and in the glowing circle you step into there's a pimp hat with a feather sticking out. You recruit ho's for a pimp affiliated with your gang whose pimps are mistreating them. The fast food joint where you get energy is called "Freckle Bitch's," which cracked me up. Cars and and controls handled great, but the camera handled poorly, worse than Tomb Raider Legends. When you run someone over they seem to react more realistically than in GTA; sometimes they shoot straight up in the air, sometimes you drive over them, sometimes they fly forward. The main character is heavily customizable, but some of the options were locked. There were 4 songs, a making of doc, some concept art, a theme, and I think 5 gamer pics on the disc. I'd stongly consider buying it if Outpost had it for $47.99 free shipping, and that's the most I spend on any game.
 
I wonder what the window is for this being available on Marketplace...
 
Please do the proper research before playing this game in order to get the full "gangstah" feel of this game as shown in figure 1.

Only then will you properly enjoy Saint's Row to its fullest potential. Wardrobe changing is encourage.

the TRU pre-order deal isn't supposed to start until the 1st week of August. those TRU's that are selling them probably are forgetting to check their R-Zone related email.

it's weird that some stores are already getting them in, the particular store I work at has not received any demos yet, and the above date was the time I was told we would start getting pre-sale slips and demos to go along with them.
 
Star checking your Best Buys now. The one I work at got them in today. They are in a DVD style case and only cost $5.00, which is applied towards the game upon pickup. Ours honestly just came in today in our Geo (the DVD/CD/Game shipments that come off the truck).

Thanks I'll stop by on my way home after work, though I doubt that the lazy asses at my BB will be putting these out as soon as they see them.
 
I got one a couple days back at my TRU. Paid 10.00 for it and later that day tossed it on Ebay. Played the crap out of it and it sold on EBay for 21.00 Shipped.

Also at TRU the 10.00 gets applied to your preorder also. Once they get there preorders in you just have to take your receipt for the adjustment.
 
Just as I thought, my BB had no clue what I was talking about. August 1st is just around the corner,with my luck I'll get my OXM then.
 
Most stores dont get to the geo untill the next morning. Only reason I had time to open them up and put them out is because we had an extra person on the floor today. Check back tomorrow. I'm not sure if I was supposed to put them out or not though, because they might be part of the Sunday Merch kit....
 
This game is awesome.

I cracked someone's windshield in a wreck so the guy leaned his head out of the window so he could see to drive.

Quite possibly.

This game is quite fun. I've played for about 3 hours and haven't done anything except free roam. It's cool to see the cops chase someone, shoot at them, then have the gang's backup arrive. I like kicking tires when cars explode. If you like GTA, you'll love this. I'm very, very close to saying "Grand Theft Who?", but not quite there yet. It's the little stuff that floors me.. like a couple was riding in a jeep and had an exercise bike on top of their car. I jacked the car and hit a wall and the passenger (wife) flew out, hit a brick wall and flipped over it. I then wrecked the car and the exercise bike flew off, the handlebars broke off and the wheel popped off.

It's not all perfect, though. Sometimes, i'll get stuck in a moving car if I jump on top of it. Every now and then, my punches miss. You can jump on cars, but you can't stomp on the hood like you could in GTA.. not a huge deal, but it was fun to alert the drivers.. the drivers usually know, though. It's cool having pedestrians come up to me and going "How long's it going to be before the cops find you??"

Hell, when I kick bums, change falls out instead of money. It's awesome. Two thumbs up.

I can vouch, he's been playing that damn demo for at least three hours.

I'd like to give a go myself, but none of the local VG shops got any in. Oh well, at least I scored the Tekken DR d-pad.
