CAGiversary!

Anyone else hyped about this game and planning on getting this for PS3? Saints Row 2 was a lot of fun to play.
It comes out 11/15. Not sure if it's worth pre-ordering to get the Professor Genki "hyper ordinary" pack but it does look like fun lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHAA_CgWKpU

Saints Row®: The Third™ Initiation Station Demo (character creator)
http://www.gamespot.com/event/codes/saintsrow-ps3-us/
Starting November 3rd, the 100 best characters as determined by THQ will be put into an all-out battle royale in the King of Saints Character Battle. When the dust has settled on November 9th, the most popular character as determined by your votes will be featured on the Saints Row: The Third community website and within the game!

Yeah definitely excited for it, I was kinda concerned this was going to be one of those games that got pushed to next year because of all of the heavy hitters in November but it looks like that won't be the case.

Will probably be a rental and then a purchase later. I really enjoyed both previous entries more than GTAIV. There was just more wacky things to do like in San Andreas. I felt GTAIV tried to be too realistic. Nonetheless, looking forward to The Third.

Well, I messed around with the Initiation Station Demo a bit and created my character. Though it looks like they took out some of the customizations (my SR 2 guy had spikey punk hair and the friendly taunt he does this crazy jig dance and whistles). Thought it looks like they have similar customization options how my SR 2 character is.. Too bad so far there's no way to import your SR 2 data into SR3, at least not that I've heard.

Also, anyone have problems recovering their password from http://www.saintsrow.com/? I registered a while back and did password reset but I never got the email (and I've checked all my gmail spam/bulk folders).

Picked up the collector's edition of Saints Row 2, 7 months after release for $30. Will probably try for something similar this time as there are just so many high quality games coming out this holiday season.

all i know is if that jet transforms ill buy this game day 1. havent played a fun gta game since gay tony and sr2. oh yeah and jc2.
i'll be getting it so i can shoot cheapy's character in the left asscheek.
I forgot about that, I EASILY would've shelled out 2 grand for a part in this game lol

when the game releases cheapy d should do a contest to see who can kill his in game character in the sickest and funniest ways and have them upload the footage to the site or youtube.

good idea. i think i would use the man-a-pult to suck up a bunch of hookers and shoot them at cheapy, until all you can see is cheapy's legs sticking out from under a humongous pile of hooker corpses.

This is one of those games that I wish came out later (or earlier). There's way too many games this season (like always) and it'll likely end up being overlooked, which is sad because it looks like such a fun game... more so than the last one.

Damn this is tempting, I was thinking of getting Saints Row the Third for PS3, but my buddy just sent me an email that you can pre-order the PC version (and Genki DLC) for $33.98 with voucher code PERFE-CTPRE-ORDER on http://www.greenmangaming.com
(and the copy is redeemable on Steam CD key). I've pre-ordered Dead Island for them a while back and it was reemable on steam too.

I've been having an absolute blast with this game. I've done more messing around in the game world than I've done missions so far.

Though tonight my PS3 gave me the 3 beep reset thing cuz I guess I quit outta the game and then immediately tried to quit out to the XMB without giving the game time to access the hdd or whatever.

Either way though hell of a game and a ton of fun. I did some cop rampages tonight for 2 hours or so till I had the military showing up with tanks and choppers trying to take me down. Then I went exploring the game world even further and found some pretty nutty/interesting stuff in the game.

I got this game last week with the 2g1 40% and my free strat guide. I had a blast playing it most of the weekend. Still not done with it but plan to play it more. I didn't expect much from this game or sandboxes in general (aside from assassins creed) but the writing and comedy is actually funny.

@super...yup they said it should be starting this week, I think until Feb.

I could've sworn there was another, bigger thread for this game already on the PS3 forum but I guess not.

Anyway, I'm mostly done with the game as of now. Although I'm stuck on the Air Steelport mission glitch, where after you get rid of some of the enemies freefalling near you you're left freefalling perpetually. Hopefully restarting the game and trying the mission again will fix the glitch. Otherwise I'll just have to keep doing car theft and assassination missions until they either patch it or someone figures out a way around the glitch.

Either way I'm having a blast with this title. This game is everything GTA should have been.

I just finished the game and I'm watching the credits now(there's A LOT of them too:shock:) and I'm noticing some familiar names in there. There's at least 3 pro wrestlers and one Hollywood movie star who did either voice or mocap work for this game.

Only thing I'm kinda annoyed about is I wish they gave you the ability to save a mission checkpoint right before the missions where you have to make one choice or the other. I'm not sure I wanna go through the whole game again just to see the alternate choices.

But if they let you keep all of your upgrades if there's a New Game +, then I might just go through the game again. Although that's cuz I'm damn near immortal now. Only time I've died since doing all of the damage upgrades is when I sat in a car that was on fire till it blew up.

Otherwise I've jumped off the top of the different hideouts repeatedly and just let my guy splat into the ground without a single bit of health lost.

This game is definitely an improvement on SR2. Your character is now extremely likeable instead of a total doucher,
Johnny Gat is killed off early on
, and there's alot of fun new additions to the game, especially the modifier button. That said there are a couple things that I'm upset didn't make the leap: from what I can tell the fight club and security detail activities are gone (they were the only two activities that I liked to play), the world isn't quite as fun to explore as SR2's Steelport, and they got rid of my two favorite cheat codes: angry drivers and low gravity. If you've never played SR2 with both of those codes turned on, you're missing out on some very chaotic fun.

My one buddy and I on PSN turned on a TON of the cheats the one night and it was pretty chaotic with those on.

Oh and I think you mean Stillwater, not Steelport. ;)

I'm still trying to figure out a good use for the heli from the first mission in the game, which can be found at the airport. I don't know if you can strap stuff underneath it or not and use those items like wrecking ball, but it'd be interesting if the chopper has some use other than just looking weird.

Alright. I've finished all but maybe 2-4 of the activities(Trail Blazing on hard is a pita imo) and I think I have to find 1-2 of the hidden items still(blow up dolls, money pallets, drug pallets) and then I'm done with the game.

So when is this Cheapy D free DLC pack supposed to be coming out? I thought it was due out by now.

How does the free SR 2 copy work? After you enter the SR 3 online pass is it automatic or do you get a code sent to your PSN email?

IATCG I too am waiting for the CheapyD DLC. Was sure it would have been out by now, but I guess they don't want a free pack to compete with the packs they're charging for. I would assume it's going to come out when the first story DLC comes out in Jan.

I'm actually tempted to pick up the DLC 'season pass' that I think they have for this, but only if it allows ya to grab ALL of the DLC they have out now or planned. Otherwise I wanna try keeping my remaining $25 in PSN credit for other $5 games. I just download Trine last night and I'm having an absolute blast with it.
I'm pretty sure it only includes the story DLCs and not all the little weapon and style packs.
That's alright either way then, since I doubt I'd use any of those weapon/style packs anyway.:whistle2:#

So I just beat the game and I gotta say, Volition did an awesome job on the game. They fixed many of the problems from the last game and even made many improvements (loading times are incredible!). So now I'm just messing around and doing some clean up.

The only thing I don't like about this game are the vehicle thefts, especially the boat ones, since they mostly involving stealing some ungodly slow vehicle and driving it all the way across the map.

Yeah. The vehicle theft missions were a major league pita. Especially since some of the later ones would have you being hunted by the army with tanks.

ability Level 26- nos on all vehicles.

I finished the game yesterday, and I loved it. I'm not really a fan of the GTA series, but this had enough ridiculousness to keep my attention.

In the final mission, was anyone else reminded of
the climax of Short Circuit 2 during the part where you had to choose between going after the plane or going to the monument?
ability Level 26- nos on all vehicles.
NOS barely doesn't anything when you're driving a street sweeper. And it doesn't work on boats, planes or helicopters (amazing how well people on the ground can hit you while you're 10000 feet in the air ).
even better, homie- remove police notoriety.
That works... sometimes. I've used it on a few missions and sometimes it'll remove all notoriety, sometimes it'll take it down to 1 badge and sometimes it won't do jack.

Oh well, I'm done with all the assassinations and thefts. Now I gotta finish all the challenges (about 12 left), side missions, and a few clean up trophies.

BTW, did they say how the next game is going to work? Will it start off of our save from this game? Because I did the final mission
as save Shuandi (?) first, then replayed it for the kill Killbane option and it seems the world is saved as what you picked second (ie, that big statue is gone since it was blown up).
I hope
Shuandi isn't dead in the next game... I was pissed when they killed off Johnny Gat.
The new members kinda suck .. except for Oleg and
Viola
.

I've beat the game, picked up most of the collectibles, got all of the properties.. all I have left is one gang mission (it's not on my map because the game glitched so I have to find it by driving around), side missions and then I'm done. Can you get the
fart in a jar
weapon anywhere beside the last mission?

Upgrade flashbangs to level four.

It's not a glitch. Gang operations won't show up on your map until you actually find them (by getting close enough to them). You've probably found most of them just from the normal running/driving around you did so you didn't notice.

CheapyD is out on both PSN and XBL but it's glitched. He doesn't shoot anyone on foot, but he does while in the car.

Cheers for the FIAJ tip, and thanks for the heads up on the gang operation situation, I wasn't aware of that. I found the last group and took care of it. :)

Best upgrade in the game imo has to be the one to find the hidden collectibles. Once I finished the game and bought that I took one of the harrier type jets I had at the main Saint's HQ and went flying around to find all of the remaining hidden items.

Of course, as I said before it's insane once you finish the main game because by then you should have most of your weapons and upgrades all maxed out. So then you're like the freakin' Highlander and can withstand an onslaught from the military even.;)

The FIAJ weapon is pretty good, but nothing beats the fully upgraded molotovs which blow up other vehicles on impact on level 4.;)

When I finished the game, I didn't have any of my weapons maxed out nor did I know about all the "cheat" abilities. Had I known that, I wouldn't have spent so much time doing the gang ops and survivals at lower levels.

After all this time though... there are some things that bother me. I swear this game has a severely limited number of clothing options to customize your character. I mean, sure there are "costumes" but it seemed like SR2 had more tops, bottoms, hats, jewelery, accessories, etc.. This also seems true for vehicles... there's more vehicles but fewer options for customization. I hate to say it but I spent way too much time in SR2 pimping up my character and my cars.:3 I'm guessing they're going to DLC a bunch of shit like this though...:whistle2:/

I'm pretty close to the platinum. I have 8 challenges left (none of which are hard) and am 80% done with my last remaining district. After that, I gotta create/upload a character online... not sure how that works. All of this is taking way longer than I thought it would though... I've still got at least another 5-6 hours left and I'm already at 34 hours.

Yeah. It does seem like they nerfed some of the stuff compared with the last game(which btw is free to download if you bought SR3 new and used the online pass up;)).

The only thing that still bugs me about having everything maxed is how sitting in a car when it blows up or being near a plane when it crashes/blows up will kill you, yet once the upgrades are all maxed you should be impervious to explosions of all kinds.

I don't think I spent much time changing my characters clothing all that much, but I definitely did put him in quite a few outfits that garnered a ton of respect(aka the dresses n stuff:lol:).

I just downloaded the Cheapy D character/homie. Maybe I'll pop the game in and see how helpful he is in the game.

I already have SR2 so it was a waste for me... I wish I could have just activated the online pass and given away the copy of SR2 but no such option.

I really hate that "cheat" upgrades too now since I simply can't die... I wish you could just deselect them to turn them off.

Since I only have maybe the stoppie/wheeling/barnstorming and other really non essential challenges to do in order to fully complete the game I kinda like being immortal for the most part.

By the way, the CheapyD homie is absolutely, positively annoying as hell. I mean, I know the other homies you can call repeat the same shit over and over too, but for some reason it seems like Cheapy is louder than them.:whistle2:#

In other news, this may be the first game I may actually try for the platinum trophy for for chuckles. Although when my one buddy and I were playing last night the game froze, which was the first time this game has done that.

By the way, the island for the Genki Bowl VII DLC that just came out recently is already in the game. You just have to fly east out into the open ocean until you get the 'the Saints need you' message(meaning you're reaching the end of the game world) and then bail out of the plane or whatever you used to get there.

When you press triangle to 'warp to shore' it should take you inside the island and you can check out the Genki Bowl VII environments.

Unfortunately there's no way out of the Genki Bowl environment once you're in, so you have to quit out or reload your save to do so.
