San Andreas will be HUGE!?

Damn that's crazy i had a hard enough time remembering where everything was in Vice City. The Stamina bar worries me though, i don't want it to play more like the sims then the previous GTA's.

Hey, they've got to at least try and up the ante, considering it's the third iteration of the same engine more or less. Let's wait and see with the stamina thing, though I also feel it sounds like a big mistake.

If you read the article on IGN, they talk about making your guy a fatty or gettin him cut at the gym.. I think that's the most interesting feature in San Andreas, not the fact taht the maps will be rediculously huge I already kind of expected that.

i like the "robbing houses" feature....aint nothing like a good old fashioned "give me all your money, bitch...oh yeah, and the dvd player too"....maybe we can find some suikoden 2s in the houses we rob...nice

Did anyone else think Vice City was smaller than GTA3?

Anyway i wonder if they added gas stations to the game, where each car has a different amount of gas left in the car so you could have a mission where the gas gets shot and you have to figure out a way to get from one end of the city to the other.

theirs gonna be a huge mountain in this one that you can....drive up...NICE...they're supposed to be making this one have way more interactive environments to make it feel less boring driving from one side of the town to the other for your next mission(i hate that)

I just wish they would release this for Xbox at the same time instead of waiting for a year and a half. This is not a PS2 bash I will buy the PS2 version at release, and the Xbox version when it is finally released. I'm starting to believe that Rockstar plans this so I end up with 2 copies of the same game.

Well, that and Sony gives them piles of money. Great big piles! And why sell it to the customer once when you can make them buy it twice? Personally I wait for the PC versions of these games.

i own a ps2 and ill buy it soon after it comes out (on the ps2)...but it is kinda shitty what they do to xbox owners....be lucky if they don't make it so the only way you can buy san andreas on xbox is if you buy the box set of gta 3, 4, and san andreas at $80

What? What about all of the xbox exclusive games?

And no one know for sure if this is ever going to the xbox - just because the previous games did does not mean this one will too.

It'll come out on Xbox because in the end, Rockstar's goal is to make money. Their exclusivity deal with Sony is about to end, meaning that Sony's money won't matter to them as much anymore. Not to mention that the previous two have already been released on Xbox.

just because their exclusivity deal with Sony is about to end doesnt mean that they're not gonna resign it

believe me, sonys money matters to rockstar

and scrub....i was just commenting, i never said it was coming out on the xbox

True, but if they can play both fields and get some backing from good old MS as well, then it's a no brainer. Plus, the increased customer base and game sales are better for the company overall. Rockstar has been bringing many of their games and franchises to the Xbox lately: Midnight Club 2, Red Dead Revolver, etc. I wouldn't see why they would publish all their games for a system except for their mega hit. It just doesn't make good business sense. (But I do see where you are coming from with stating that Sony's money matters.)

Also, unless people forget, Rockstar made a deal with Sony to let the previous games go to the xbox cause they were not supposed to. Maybe the deal included SA to be exclusive to Sony forever in exchange for the others being released.

My point is no one knows and I hate it when people automatically assume it is not going to be exclusive.

i think the deal is that gta will be ps2 exclusive until 2005. but this deal was made after gta 3 and vice city were released allowing them to rerelease on xbox. i think san andreas will be exclusive until 2005 when the contract runs out and then will be released on the box.

on a side note, scrubking, did you get rid of your avatar because of the "you are not dave chapelle" thread? i doubt thats the reason but im curious.

Actualy most exclusivity deals only last about 2 years or so, by that time they assume everyone who was going to buy the game for one platform has bought it already and they can now take their game and make more money with somone elses.

I had no doubt xbx was going to get the game, it's was just going to be years later when not so many people cared, otherwise an exclusivity deal is pointless.

Also the city is probably one of the smallest things data wise since all you;re doing is setting up geometry and creating loading points to other zones. What takes up more space is the textures, sounds and interactive elements as well as AI and programing in general. I have no doubt they can make a city the size of south america if they wanted to but you;d just get lost in it.

Also I concidered Vice city smaller than Liberty city as well. there wasnt as much going on and the beach ate up like 30% of the land mass, Island 1 wasnt big, just looooong, and the other 2 were barly a spit in the ocean.
This game is definatly not gonna tide well with parents. Robbing houses, drive bys with four people.
u know a games good when it has that effect.
They need some two player action.. kind of like in Halo, with the Warthog.. one person driving, the other shooting. Man I'd love that.
i think u can already do that with a third party update i think. it was called multi theft auto and u could get a few people in the game with u at the same time. im not too sure about the details though, i never downloaded it.

OK First of all everybody with a PS2 and an Xbox quit your bitching about wahh wahh the PS2 version's coming out first. The thing is that this game is MADE for the ps2 console. You were goddamned lucky to have the double pack on xbox and bladey blah blah better sound better graphics etc. And your goddamned lucky to have SA come out on the XB at all. They have exclusive deals with sony so i'm glad that i'm able to grab GTA SA before all those xbox owners. And besides did we ever see halo on PS2?? noooo. so if we're bitching about wah wah its gonna be a year before halo 2 comes out on PS2 like you guys are with SA then i'll be damned. And there are about 100 exclusive games that are for xbox that we never see so just please shut up and quit whining.

I hate exclusive titles. I wish titles came out on all consoles simultaneously. Does anyone know what kind of money developers get to make a title "exclusive"? I just wonder if that money really offsets how much they could make by selling to other systems. I'm sure something like GTA3/Vice City would have sold even more copies on the Xbox had it come out at the same time as the PS2 version.

I'd rather have an XBOX version of GTA: San Andreas but that will not stop me picking up the ps2 version when it first comes out. I can't remember when was the last time I was so excited about a game being released.

This is a ridiculous statement because ps2 has more exclusive games such as the final fantasy series and the vast numbers of rpgs. I wish that rpgs would come to xbox because xbox doesn't really have many rpgs under its belt. San Andres will probably come later to xbox because they have to tweek it to make it look better for xbox. That's one of the reasons why it takes longer to come to xbox.

I think that's the best thing I read too. After GTA3, I wanted more ways to do crime. The business running shit of Vice City was novel, but it was so passive that I didn't even notice that I had the businesses after a while. Not that I wanted a more in depth way of managing my strip clubs and auto showrooms...
i never even thought of 2 player action in gta...thats a nice ass idea...though i doubt they'll use it
Same here. What could be better, you 3 friends, 30 pack, and GTA!!!

There will always be exclusive titles, and deals to get them, it's what helps make the distinction between the systems.

Plus some companies have to make a choice about who to develope for because the differenaces in the systems and developement environments means they have different ammounts of resource demands so they cant always devote all their energy between 3 systems to make the game the best it can possibly be for all.

1 excellent game for a single platform? or 3 lackluster versions that dont break any barriers on any of the systems. Sometimes they have to make the decision because they cant handle an exceltent multi platform product's development.
http://gamesradar.msn.co.uk/news/default.asp?pagetypeid=2&articleid=30218&subsectionid=1585

According to Gamesradar San Andreas will be made up of 3 cities each the size of Vice City making the game 4 to 6 times larger, and that is not counting the indoor enviornments.

It sounds good, but I'll believe it when I see it. Besides I don't see how they can make the game that big anyway - multiple dvds?
I've stated this before, but my thread ghets overlooked
