Hello CAG.

If you don't know about Comic-Con, let me break it down a little bit.

San Diego Comic-Con is going down July 19-23(THU-SUN). There will be WED Preview night again on the 18th for ppl that preregistered and members of the press/industry along with those who receive free preview night passes.

SDCC is the biggest convention of it's kind in the US. It has everything a geek would love and more. Comics, Anime, movies, art, entertainment, video games, collectibles, celebs, Sci-Fi, action figures, and MORE.

Sony is there every year, Capcom will be there again along with UDON. Capcom will be running something special for Street Fighter fans, so don't miss out.

Tons of exclusives that can sell for $$$ on the eBay. Only bad thing is the smell.

Who will be attending this year? :)

I'll be going for my 15th year in a row and running another video gaming tournament. It's going to be the 5th year anniversary SD TEKKEN tournament. Hope to see some of you there!

You see, I wasn't going to go. But I figure I should go help promote PMX. But this is what really tipped the scales

5:45-7:00 New Line Cinema Presents Snakes on a Plane— Sit back. Relax. Enjoy the fright. New Line Cinema will show exclusive footage from Snakes on a Plane. Samuel L. Jackson makes his first San Diego Comic-Con appearance, along with director David R. Ellis, to discuss his new film! And, watch out—snake wrangler Jules Sylvester will also be on hand with live snakes from the movie.

I have a really big favor to ask someone. If someone can pick up something for me at the Upper Deck booth, that would be great. I've recently gotten into playing VS System TCG (it's a TCG based on Marvel and DC comics), and if someone could pick up the exclusive card that they have there (I believe it's Wonder Woman card promo) and maybe anything else free, I would be very very appreciated. I'll even pay for shipping and maybe something extra if you want. You don't have to do it if you don't want to, but if you happen to stop by at the booth, please pick up the card for me (and maybe even learn how to play the game :D).

Thanks a lot!

Thank you frap who brought it to my attention in another thread that this Phoenix Wright stylus will be for sale at Comic-Con. This is one thing I will definitely pick up.
Your welcome. If see any promo Nintendo materials at the convention and you can pick them up for me, let me know and I'll pay your shipping plus an additional fee for your trouble. :)

Have fun,
Im going all four days, it's gonna be sweet. Penny-Arcade booth, Rooster Teeth Booth, Bungie Booth...ohh yeah
Wow, you have some of the booths that I already have had in mind tagged. I was at the PA booth last year, but I didn't have my camera so I couldn't get pics, and they were all out of their first books, but I did get a t-shirt from them and had them sign it for me and I got to chat to them for like a half hour even though they were busy. Really nice guys. This year I've really been doing some saving up even with all the cash I've blown lately, and plan on getting a bunch of shirts (signed) and my PA Volume 1 First Edition signed and this time I'll remember to ask for a sketch. I don't remember Rooster Teeth being there last year, but I'll definitely check them out and pick up all their DVDs if they have them. Bungie....neh. I'll definitely hit up THQ and Capcom. THQ was as good as they were at E3 last year (didn't go to E3 this year (wish I had)). THQ gave out a ton shit be it CDs for Destory all Monsters or Juiced t-shirts or bottle opener key chains, plus a ton more. Darkhorse was also phenomenal and highly recomended. I plan on getting all volumes of The Goon and to finally get Casshern as I missed out last year (Did get the Wision version of the Battle Royales though) and hopefully some other movies.

I'm going to be there again this year. I wish I could order a CAG t-shirt in time, but even with 2 day air it will get to me only after I'm there and it starts. I wish I still lived in Cali. I went to last year's and just walking the show floor is an absolute blast. I'm pre-registering, and I wish I can make it there for all four days, but I have business to attend to Thursday, but I'll be there Friday early morning and I remember that they will be doing a showing/preview for Hellboy 2 and also a showing of the two new Hellboy cartoons with a question session with Guillermo del Toro at 10:30 I believe Friday. I can't find the info now, but does anyone know where/when this will be held?
You see, I wasn't going to go. But I figure I should go help promote PMX. But this is what really tipped the scales
Where's it going to be held?
it's a fanboy paradise.
i worked there one year and the first morning my boss was like "listen..."

and then came the stampede of fatties, equipped with poster tubes and sketchbooks  funny shit.
Shit, thanks for remding me. I got hit up a kinkos for a some poster tubes. Most of my posters got ruined from last year (except for my Aeon Flux posters thank god) because I wouldn't let myself be extorted into paying the unreasonable prices they wanted at Comic-Con. I was too cheap:cry:
Yeah, in recent years the gaming portion of the Comic Con has been growing bigger and bigger. Hell, last year I got this cool zelda coin from the Nintendo booth.

zelda.jpg
Shit, my friend flashed me those coins as he went multiple times to Nintendo's booth and got those and some pokemon cards or something like that (I got FMA cards, but I lost them somewhere). I forgot to bring my DS last year. Won't make the same mistake twice. By the way, What's a good carrying case for the DS with a strap?
a ton of people at comic con aren't even interested in comic books. it seems like every year it becomes less and less about comics, and more the "in thing" to do in san diego for that week. if gil kane was still alive and he went to comic con, his line would be shorter than charmane star's, haha.
I went last year mostly for some import movies like Battle Royale and comics. Sadly though I didnt' have enough money for the comics that i wanted and the ones I absolutely wanted were sold out (my Johnny the Homicidal Maniac got ruined and I wanted to buy another from Slave Labor and have Jhonen Vasquez sign it/them, but they were absolutely sold out:cry:) This year I'm going with plenty of cash and credit:D
I've got family on the Board of Directors and on the Head of Events Staff, so I'll definitely be there all 4 Days (Free of Course)!

My favorite freebie from last year was the Guy Fawkes Mask (V for Vendetta). I also scored a bunch of free PS2 and XBOX Demos, and a few Alien Hominid Antennas/Ears, among a bunch of other free stuff.

Extremely, Highly, Super doubtful but does anyone think Nintendo will bring a playable Wii to the con? That would be absolutely amazing. But definitely not getting my hopes up at all.

Anyway yeah I'll be there. I hope they have some awesome guests this year. Although on a personal level last years was the best since I got to see Natalie Portman talk about Vendetta.

I really can't wait!
I remember the demos. I missed seeing Portman for the Vendetta, but I did get the demos and could never find where teh Guy Fawkes masks were. damn it, and I really wanted one of those.

Definitely yes. The Nintendo booth is allegedly going to have Mario Hoops, Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon, Star Fox, and a few other games available at the Download Booth.

So if I can download demos from the internet, it sounds like it would be pointless for me to bring it? Except show off the DS video and MP3 playback and GB emulation to anybody who isn't sure they want a flash cart, that is.

On another note, I have no idea what to do today - I took tomorrow and Friday off, but have to work today. Is it worth leaving early and battling through traffic to get home and pick up the pass (whatever it's called) tonight instead of tomorrow? What else is there to do tonight?

Did I mention that I live three blocks away?

Feel free to PM me about anything, if it helps / you're bored.
So is it really worth bringing the DS? It'd be one more thing to keep track of.. :whistle2:x
I cannot think of a better event, besides E3, to bring your DS to, with its wifi.

The fact that you'll be able to put your DS into "intercept download" mode and almost always be able to find someone who wants a throwdown? Also the awesome potential of Pictochat.

(Also, Nintendo likes to give free things to people who show their GBA or DS)

Horrible news!

Capcom is only giving the stylus away to anyone who buys a phoenix wright game!

Sorry to everyone on my list of people to get a stylus for.

On a side note I picked up the comic for Cag1000, so expect a PM shortly.

OMG, I just posted a "horrible news" on the stylus thread!

P.S. What are some cool freebies? What's worth buying?

At some booth (sci-fi?) I got a DVD with a few episodes of Dr. Who (paper sleeve). Other than that, not much worth mentioning, I think. Everybody wore those pesky Naruto masks.

My feet need a massage, even though I bought new sneakers for them this morning.

Yup, exactly. That's why I wish I had brought mine last year :bomb::bomb:

I'd imagine that all the freebies will start to come out Thursday and definitely into the weekend. Last year I couldn't make it for either Thursday or Friday and from what I heard, that's when they gave out a ton of stuff like Devil's Rejects posters/t-shirts, tons of pins (i think last year there was some pin theme or something since everybody had a ton), etc. Did anyone hit up the dealers by any chance? See anything good?

Preview night for Comic-Con was awesome.

Capcom has the best gaming related booth in my opinion. They have tons of retro stuff for sale it's amazing! Bunch of Japanese Rock Man and Street Fighter stuff on display. It's going to be a long weekend.

Square Enix was in the building too showing off a lot of goodies. Nothing really new gaming wise that wasn't at E3. I got to play Elite Beat Agents (Ouendan[but not the same]) some more at the Nintendo booth and more of Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin before the show floor opened. After it opened it was PACKED. Fun stuff. Nintendo was giving out a 10th anniversary Pokemon DS strap to people visiting their booth and playing games.

I got an email from Sony Online Entertainment saying that they'll be having a block party down the street from Comic-Con. Free food, drinks, prizes, etc. Just a notice for you Comic-Con guys :)

When and where is this block party?

Also, the Wizards booth is GOLD. Just from Preview night I got a D&D Miniatures starter kit and an Avalon Hill game from their dice rolling game, on top of sundry promo minis.

Saturday, July 22nd from 3 pm - 7 pm. They said there will be buses provided for Comic-Con guys from 3 pm - 5 pm.

Sweet, thanks.

Also, I talked to a rep at the Nintendo booth tonight. Any of you CAGs who want to wear a Nintendo costume can get a free copy of Monopoly DS.

Here's a random question:

Does anybody who's going want to demo _any_ DS title, American or Japanese, that they've never been able to find? PM me for details.

NP. Anybody wanna wear a Nintendo costume for me and get me a Monopoly DS? :)

I wish I was going, i'd pick me up one of these sweet Nemesis Prime/Doge Ram figures:

How much are the tickets? Is the smell really that bad?

If anyone's going could hooke me up with a figure (if its less than $30) let me know and I'll pay cost + shipping+handling.

Oh wow, I didn't know it did that (it was in its lame truck form)! Unfortunately FFMooglestar and I tried to get one but they sold out for today (the line was ridiculously long for these). There will be more tomorrow though (that's the first stop I'm going to make), I'll see if I can get you one. It's $24.99 just to let you know. I took a picture of it while it was inside a viewing case, and just realized that I forgot to take off the flash, so it messed up the picture.:hot:

It will be mine tomorrow! Or... Or... I'm going to be really really sad. :(

That be awesome! Thanks for even trying and good luck!

Aww shit I want to go now after watching this Comic-Con cover on G4. I forgot how much were tickets at the door, and how long are lines this year? Last year I was able to get tickets at the door in only 30 mins, not sure about this year.
Anyone check out the DS booth yet?

I'm going tomorrow..
It was alright. The games on display from what I remember: FF III, Mario Hoops, some music beat game, some pokemon game, and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (there were more but I think those were the highlights). I also saw at the Capcom booth Phoenix Wright: Justice for All. The download station was pretty LAME in my opinion. It would put you in queue if other people were ahead of you, and the majority of the items were just movies. Actually let me gather some pics I took, I'm kind of too tired to write about it. I'll make a thread later with most of my pics. But for a now, just a small sample for you CAGs of the video game related things I saw (I'll get more up later):

*Nintendo DS Booth: 1, 2, 3, 4
*Teal DS Lite?: 1, 2
*Okami
*Rogue Galaxy (Awesome demo)
*Random Picture

And Linkin, no luck again:bomb:. Will try again tomorrow. The Hasbro line filled up @ 10:02 AM (2 min after it opened). FFMooglestar got his (and mine), but I got swamped by the sea of people. Limit is 2 per person on the "Nemesis Prime," but I'll see what I can do.

Can you believe they sold out Phoenix Wright on the first day? Anyway, some video game related stuff I got was a stylus from Buena Vista games for trying out Spectrobes on the DS, and I also took a Memory Stick Duo from the Sony Booth (only 32 mb, and I think they were only intended for people who brought their PSPs and wanted some download from Sony) I'm sad I missed the pokemon wriststrap though. Also Square Enix had a large booth with the FF7 Dirge of Cerebrus demo.

Okay, okay I get it man. I appreciate the generosity:applause: (you know I'd do the same too). I'll push and shove my way through tomorrow. Hopefully I won't get swarmed again; but that line is just insane.:bomb:
