Scott Pilgrim (PSN) download code hunt (Examiner / NEW CODE ADDED)

Looked all through the articles and couldn't find it. Called my wife to try it when it was posted here and she said it started to download but it's coming up as just the demo. Wouldn't it just not work if it was already redeemed?

You download the demo and unlock it with a key.

Oh, so you're supposed to put that key into the actual demo (which I already had), not in the "account management > redeem code"? Basically, I lost right?

No, you still redeem it on the PSN. It would probably just download the demo (if you don't have it) and the key to go with it. Quite a few PSN games work that way.

But I already had the demo (the day it came out, already beat it and everything). This doesn't seem to make much sense to me. :whistle2:s
yeah, i'm not a fan of these kind of contests, i never do them, it's pointless as seen by others, and just gets paid clicks and views and traffic for the OP and site, but nothing for others.
Agreed, these contests are such BS.

I'm sure these threads aren't against any "rules" or anything, but I seriously think mods should consider banning direct solicitation, even if they are "contests." :bomb:

But then again, I guess if anybody actually does drudge through the entire site, it's their own choice and they must really not value their own time...

Solicitation like advertisement?

So mod should ban all contest that ask people to go comment on their website or a contest that ask to vote for them?

Eh? What is he doing wrong to consider a ban on his contest? Contest holder shouldn't ask us to make a comment on his blog or vote for his site too then?

The only reason that people don't like this is that they are more time-consuming that the other contests.

For some reason these Scott Pilgrim codes are redeemable a few times and only the first redeem lets you download the unlock key. Had the same thing happen with a different code hunt.

I'm definitely not digging the new look for the examiner...
Plus it seems the changeover is causing a lot of issues... it's been rather slow and appears to be down right now.
I'm glad I'm not too concerned about trying to win this...

lol, sorry you guys are learning the hard way, these aren't 'contests', more rather like 'bait', nobody really wins except the OP...

Yeah, I said IF you don't already have the demo. I had the demo and when I bought it off the PSN, it just downloaded a key for me.

Well thats shitty, the code wasn't even posted until the next day when it said it would be posted yesterday. Glad I didn't waste anymore time than I already did.

HA! now the PSN is telling me there is an error and there is maintenance so I can't even login.

I'll admit that I don't really have any legitimate justification for my ban suggestion, and my opinion is JUST my opinion. But I will point out that it's not about the time investment of this contest. These sort of posts just "feel" wrong, if you know what I mean.

It's really about the fact that this is direct solicitation and exploitation of the CAG community. OP even has said that they get paid by the click. This is also similar to those sites where you have to click/vote/register in a bunch of different sites just so you can "win" something or even just download something.

This equates to spam moreso than a "contest."

I get the same feeling from those pyramid schemes that have you register for this site and then suggest to your friends to register too. And some of these sites are legit, at least with respect to giving you your free gift if/when you fulfill the requirements. And you bet they're time consuming too. But that's not why they're BS, it's because the individual is being taken advantage of while the person on top is doing nothing but waving a carrot and reaping the benefits.

Thanks to anyone who read my rant :p

I understand that this might feel wrong for some people but the solicitation here is not different from the other thread that ask them people to vote for them or to help them by voting for them to win a contest. The difference between them is time and lurker can win. It's suck to try for something when somebody already redeemed it. Also it kinda suck to search for it when it not already there.

This is hardly spam compare to some contest that the winner is Xth post.

By the way, the new version of Examiner.com often down.

I don't have a problem with the way he runs his contests because they are after all optional, you don't have to participate. The problem here is telling his followers that he will post a code later today and not really post it until the next. It just wastes a lot of people time.

And like Khalid said the new site crashes quite a bit.

Hey genius, do you think companies run contests out of the goodness of their hearts? They always get something out of it.

Yes, obviously. Contests/sweepstakes are meant to be for advertising -- getting the name or product out there. But ultimately it's the consumer's choice whether or not to purchase/invest in the product. There's not much (if any) direct profit made from the contest itself.

You might argue that they're advertising for a service offered, i.e. news. But how many people are actually reading the articles? By sheer luck, there should be at least some interesting articles out there, and a few people are reading them; but I doubt most are. So some author out there is artificially inflating their numbers by offering no real substance to the world, other than an elusive freebie or two. And I say "their" numbers because if you'll notice, all these code hunt "contests" are only for the articles by the same author.

Everyone hates banner ads slapped across some random website, but when "contests" like this are in the form of a CAG thread, suddenly people want to invest some of their time.

BUT anyway, wow, I'll get off my soap box. Didn't expect to argue that much :p I'm sure some of you think I'm a dumbass, but I would like to hope a few of you even slightly agree with me that these threads are a tad underhanded. To each his own.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and to the other guy who commented about those "vote for me" threads: Yeah, they bother me too. You see them every now and then, but at least they're not from the same people/group every time. I thought the same of these Examiner threads when they first started to show up, but except this time, they just kept coming. Hence my wording of "spam" in my other post.

Weird thing about the new examiner is that seems to receive e-mail notification earlier now, the day 4 contest article is not up yet but I got the email. I used to get those email 3 hours later.
There is no way to get back to your 2009 articles or anything past March 25, 2010.
I haven't been too happy about Examiner's growing pains. 2 hints:

1) The third hard to find segment is in a 2010 article

2) Use the tag topics at the bottom of my articles to get to the older articles.

Anyone know if it's been taken or not yet?

edit: Nevermind, keep forgetting wife's back to work for the school year again so I can't have her try it while I'm at work.

its gone... either these arent real or some people has a way that can searching without manual going through all the threads.

ive wasted too much time on these...even it fine it pretty fast its always doesnt work when i try the code
