Seahawks Rule! AKA Official NFL Discussion Thread #3

I would say they are looking to be the best in the NFC right now. The only team that could take them out is the Panthers.

No one in the NFC is even close to the top AFC teams though.

I am so damn happy the Seahawks are FINALLY using all the talent on their roster to their full potential AND that the football gods are looking down on them after so many seasons of bad calls killing then (especially last season!).

Seahawks will choke in the playoffs like every year. Who can remember these classics?

"We want the ball and were gonna score"

Hassleback throws INT

"Touchdown Engram! Wait he dropped it!?!"

Not saying the Seahawks are bad it's just I don't see them as a team better than the Bears, Panthers, and The Giants (Game was a fluke win)

Also, the Hawks lost to the 49ers because Dorsey doesn't know how to throw the ball more than 5 yards.

Seahawks are good... could be scary, but I think there's a bunch of teams in the AFC on their level or even better.

Hell, even in the NFC, I think the Panthers are on a level playing field with Seattle.

QFT

New York was not a fluke. New York only had one legitimate touchdown. It should never have gone to OT. NY gets to the red zone 4 times, 2 field goals, one good touchdown, one bad touchdown. Seattle got there three times, three touchdowns. Who deserved to win?

I'd say Seattle has a good chance this year so long as they get homefield advantage. I'm really looking forward to the Hawks, Colts game in late Dec.

Could be good if the Colts don't sit their starters.
Pfft the best team in the NFC is the Bears, then the Panthers, and then the Seahawks. :)
bullscheise. at least as long as they have Orton throwing to muhammed/. :D

If the Colts win this week, I wouldn't be suprised to see them not only sit their starters in the second half of the last 3 games, but also come out with an extremely limited and simple playbook like they did against Denver in the last game of last season. There is a good chance they could see both San Diego and Seattle in the post season, and they do not want to give them any film to work with. The Colts would have clinched home field after the Jags game, and I don't think that Dungy cares too much about a perfect season.

If the Seahawks aren't number one in the NFC they are at least number two. The Panthers are the only team I would consider putting ahead of the Seahawks. The Bears have an incredible D but need to have a little more punch on offense IMO.

I'm with you 100% on this, Guile.

The Bears are making a bad mistake not working Rex Grossman back in, they can't possibly survive with kyle orton throwing lamw ducks all over the field 13 times a game, they gotta go down the field.

Im not sold entirely on the seahawks.

But hey, we got the rookie of the year.

If they want the perfect season they won't, afterall the Colts biggest problem has always been Payton Manning having a shitty day, not unrested players.
Good looking out on the new topic Quillion!
Thanks. I thought I would put a little blurb about Seattle in there too... :)
They're good, but they've been is so many close and lucky games it's hard to fully support that statement.
Agreed. What I'm so excited about is that the close and lucky games, Seattle is winning now. Always before they would blow it when it came time to clinch. They're following through, and I'm thrilled.

Every team has close and lucky games. It's whether you win them that seperates good from great.

unless you are the colts and averaging 15+ points win per game We are the best and will kick the seahawks ass in game 15 at seattle. then in the super bowl we will kick it one more time for all the marbles

You're right. How could I forget the statement game that was 13-6 over that powerhouse Cleveland? Or the 10-3 over Jags, also 45-37 over Bengals. No close games there at all. Seattle is averaging 12 points over in all games, counting the two losses, and they aren't running up the score. All teams have close games. The defense isn't as good as is claimed, indy's still carried by the offense. They're also vulnerable.

Though I doubt we'll see the best of either team in week 16, both may have homefield locked by then, besides, neither Dungy or Holmgren will want to completely open the playbook to a potential superbowl rival.
Seahawks biggest problem are themselves.. we'll see if they have another case of the dropsies
Proves you dont watch football much. Every since they got rid of DrunkRo, they havent really dropped balls at all.

no shit sherlock... I watch a ton of football, probably know more that you... they never really had a problem with dropped balls until playoff time...

Actually, as a long time Seahawk fan, I have to dispute that. The last two years, they dropped balls all the time. In fact, they had the most dropped balls in the NFL the last two years.

Here's a Seahawks sig I made if anyone wants it. :whistle2:/
I can change the font or whatever for whoever wants it, plus I'll add your name xD

I think one of the big differences between this years hawk team and last year is their ability to secure the football and make first downs. And on the defensive end, their finding ways to hold on 3rd downs and get the ball back.

here's an interesting thing i heard from David Locke, He said that Shaun Alexander is more then likely the same runner as last year, because the percentage of yardage gained on first down running to RT went from 16th in the NFL last year, to 2nd this year. And you think Sean Locklear isnt doing his job. heh.

Once D Jack comes back the offense will be better off, theyll have a downfield threat, as well as it puts Bobby E back in the slot, which will help him do what he does best.

Still any doubters?

Actually, I wanted to post about that Chargers/Dolphins game... How many letters does it take to say choke? B-R-E-E-S? I mean, the team was beaten by Gus Frerotte... They're not the "Great team with the tough schedule" that everyone seems to think.

Thoughts?

I'd spell it more like S-P-R-O-L-E-S. That fumbled kickoff was the certain momentum shifter. Their D sucked noodles in the third quarter also, same goes for the coaching staff who obviously had little faith in Kaeding hitting a 50 yarder (though don't know if I can blame them too much there). Brees didn't have an MVP day, but at least he was keeping them close playing catch up in the 4th quarter. Tomlinson is obviously their best weapon but when your D allows 17 pts in one quarter you can't afford to give it to the halfback that much either.

In short, I don't believe one bad day means you can just write them off as a bad or even average team. However in their division (one of the hardest currently in the NFL) they can't afford to drop a game just like that either.

I haven't watched them play this year, so I've bought into the "great team with the tough schedule" line. I must say that I'm suprised that the Dolphins beat them. It will be interesting to see how they play against Indy next week.

I can't believe how dirty Jacksonville got at one point in the Second Quarter yesterday. A late hit on Peterson and then one of the big D-Line guys takes to slamming James' head repeatedly into the ground after a play was over. I know you're getting your ass handed to you (after you talked tough on the CBS pre-game show), but show a little restraint. I lost a lot of respect for Del-Rio and gang yesterday. Also, after listening to the Jags talk after the game yesterday (how they can beat the Colts), I know how to spell denial, J-A-G-U-A-R-S.

How about Johnson and the Bengals living up to the 40-points a game promise? Ha!

As a longtime Hawks fan, this season is a blast and a long time coming. Hawks are a game away from the number one seed in the NFC (!?!), and then they'll be tough for ANY NFC team to beat at home during the playoffs. Not saying it couldn't happen, but they would be the favorite in any matchup.

Shameless plug: Watch the FONE ZONE after the Hawks game this weekend!

I didn't see that, they didn't show it in highlights... But I did see a Cowboys D-Lineman punching a KC O-Lineman several times in the stomach, the officials didn't and they didn't replay, this happened with KC up 14 ish in the second Q.

I know! I was completely rooting for Cleveland. Living in OH, I've never liked the football choices, always rooting for the underdog Bengals. But now that they are performing, it went straight to their heads. Too much arrogance in too little time. Put together a few winning seasons, a few division wins, and then start to trash-talk.

No argument here. Born and raised in Seattle. It's been a long hard 20 years since we last won a playoff game. I think this year's unit is better than any of the Chuck Knox teams though.

What is the 'FONE ZONE'?

Fone Zone is a post-game call-in show on cable (NWCN). Call-in.. talk with Brock Huard live on the air about the game. If you get on, you get a free pizza!

Damnit, that game was hard for my 9ers. Lots of times the WR's dropped the ball. Too bad our O-Line sucks balls to give Smith some time.

Cleveland's showing signs of becoming a really good Defense. You can thank Romeo for that. It seems every game they are good at taking away one of the critical components that makes a specific offense tick. And a lot of these high powered offensive teams seem to struggle agaisnt the browns.

They beat the niners, nothing special. We'll see how they do in the playoffs when they will get a chance to play teams that don't suck.

Also the 49ers website fucken sucks compared to the other teams.

The 49ers website is ok, nothing great. We don't deserve a nice website but it is nice to click on the Championship history link.

The Seahawks like Nolan said are a "pretty good team", are they great? Hell no, they ain't too bad either. The Seahawks beat the Giants with luck, the Falcons game coulda gone either way, and were a Ken Dorsey 3 foot short pass from going to OT.

If i'm the Bears, Panthers, Giants, Cowboys i'd damn well rather face the Seahawks than the Falcons, Bucs.

I dont believe in this said "lucK", as i say, you create your own oprintunities and chances.

Nobody was complaining all the patriots had was luck during their super bowl years, where they?

Well they are lucky because they are in the NFL West.

The thing that annoyed me about the Patrots super bowl years is all the talk about brotherhood and sacrificing and shit. The talked like if they gave each other BJ's in the locker room :whistle2:\".

Unless of course I'm facing a Seattle team with homefield advantage, then perhaps I'd reconsider.

Meh, watching Seahawks games they do get crazy. Have a tough task facing Indy in 2 weeks.

Damnit DT I wanted to buy that DVD
