The old Sears clearance thread was almost a year old, so I've taken the liberty of creating this one. I went back and wrote down the drops and lowest reported prices so far for all of 2007. The games may ring up more or less for you as prices are YMMV (your mileage may vary). The games should ring up at some sort of clearance price at every Sears store that carries games. They may not be tagged on clearance at your store, so you should have them scanned to find out what they ring up as. My local Sears rarely tags the clearance games, so I have to refer to this list. Games drop out of the system about a month after they hit $0.97.

Some clearance games at Sears were restocked over the holidays with new UPC stickers over the original UPC. These are ringing up $9.99-$19.99 as marked for now.

These prices are good at Sears, Sears Essentials, and Sears Grand stores.

Lowest reported prices (games may ring up less or more at your store):

If you have a new game or lower price to list, post it here and I'll update the OP periodically. Even if a game is only a few dollars off, please report it here. The price WILL drop on a regular basis. When reporting a price, please give us the game title AND system.

Here's a link to the old thread: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103736

In my experience, the list of clearance games at Sears isn't YMMV, but the specific clearance prices are (prices drop at different speeds at different stores. Also, people keep complaining that the clearance games are ringing up $15-20 at their stores. If they would actually read this post, they'd know that's because those are restocked holiday games with new UPC tags. The old stock of those games should still ring up on clearance if you can find them.

And because people can't read, I'll say it again:

PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!
PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!
PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!

I made a second trip to purchase the Final Fantasy XI with hard drive bundle. This time around a different employee helped me I asked him to scan the box no price came up on the screen I asked him to type in the number written on the side of the box still nothing. Then he left to ask the manager about the price he came back and told me it was $39.99. lol I did not buy it. I will try again tomorrow if they still have it in stock. I will tell them it is supposed to be $7.97 or $11.97 maybe that works.

I stopped by Sears yesterday and saw a few games on clearance worth mentioning although they weren't super cheap

Rogue Galaxy (PS2) - 31.97

Elite Beat Agents (NDS) - 22.97

I might be off a buck or two on these prices since I'm doing this from the top of my head from last night but if off only by about a dollar.

I ended up picking up War of the Monsters since it was finally below $10 at my store (4.97)

to my amazement, the sears that i've frequented very much recently happened to have Mario DDR. It wasn't there last week...of course I snagged it. The real reason I was going was for Super Mario Strikers, to see if it had dropped lower than $20 yet. All four copies that were there before were gone, or I couldn't find them at least :(

there was a lot more clearance stuff than before, however. I saw EBA and that Capcom trading card game or whatever, and some other random games.

Does anyone know if Sears will PM a receipt from another Sears? I picked up a Green Controller S for $7.97 a few days ago (last one) and it is scanning for $23.97 at another Sears. I asked last year if they will PM and was told all Sears have the same prices (yeah right!) but was wondering if anyone has tried it. I'd like to grab a few since they are discontinued and probably won't have another chance to get them this cheap.
Sears had the Xbox Advance AV Pack and about 8 Xbox Action Replays with no price marked. I asked the rep that I wanted the AV PAck and 1 Action Replay.. It rang up 0.00 so they said that they can't sell it and it means that its marked to be shipped back to the Vendor. I was so pi$$ed.
The one local regular Walmart that we have left(that didn't convert to a Supercenter yet)had the Advanced AV Packs the last time I was in there prior to hitting it again Saturday night. I didn't take notice if they still had any left or not, but on a prior trip, they had the Advanced AV Packs for $10.

I'll have to check another Sears further from me though, since I think all of their Xbox stuff is pretty much newer games and no controllers. I'd love to snag a new black one for $5.00.

Viva Pinata Xbox 360 faceplate $14.97
Virtua Tennis 3 Xbox 360 $39.97
Xbox 1 Live 12 month subscription card $39.97
Card Fighters DS $23.97

I've been able to do this before. Exactly as you described. Just brought in my receipt from another sears and had them sell it to me for that price.

By the way, if you do this, could you post a scan of your receipt? :) The sears in my area are still holding at $14 for those.

I've been to a couple Sears stores in the past month, all had MGS3:Subsistence, all had it for full price.

have a lot of people found it clearanced?

I would but I don't have a scanner

It also scanned for me at $29.99

Do the other Sears have a box with a bunch of games in it with 90% of them with no price at all? The one in Evansville, IN ticks me off because there is a box with 19.99 and under games in it and only like 10-20% have a price on them. Also there is no self price checker back in electronics and you can't leave the area with anything. I'm tempted to grab anything I think is decent and have the people who work there check the prices on like 30 games for me just to be a prick.

Only thing I've ever got at mine was Star Ocean ps2 for 4.99 and I seen that workout game with the eye toy for 11 bucks but didn't buy it. That was about 6 months ago though. I haven't seen anything since then.

I do this all the time and don't feel bad about it at all. It's their job.

I just picked up like 4-5 games a bunch of times and walked back to Home Furnishings(which is like 2 dept's away) and just scanned them there myself. I'd repeat it until I'm done checking the ones I wanted to check.

Of course, if any are in the case, I have the clerks check them, but otherwise it seems like less hassle to just skim the bin and pick out ones you want checked and do it yourself.

I do the same at Kmart with the games they have loose on a shelf near the cases, usually with no one telling me they can't leave electronics.

I do this all the time and don't feel bad about it at all. It's their job.

A while back I was in a Sears looking at Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2. The price tags on them looked higher than I thought they should be, so I went to find an employee to price check them. Unfortunately, I got stuck with this crabby overweight guy who didn't wanna get out of his chair.

The guy really argued me on the prices, saying they were already marked. When I asked him to humor me and scan them, because I didn't think they were right, he kept refusing. He said the reason they put stickers on them is so you know the price -- therefore they had to be right. I kept trying to explain I thought the stickers were old ones, but he had it stuck in his head that he was right. He finally caved. They were, of course, a cheaper than the price tag said.

He looked angry that I was right, but didn't say anything 9_9 I thanked him for helping me.

I went to a different Sears than I usually go to and found a Gameboy Micro 20th Anniversary for $34.97. Of course I got it. Nothing else caught my attention though.

Here's some new drops, I think:

The Outfit - X360 - $3.97
NBA Street Showdown - PSP - $1.97 ($5 Pricegrabber rebate on this as well)
Madden 06 - X360 - $1.97
Fuzion Frenzy - Xbox - $1.97

nba showdown trades into fye for $7 pre-bump, you might be able to nab $12-13 for it if you trade it in prior to the 45% promo ending.

That a lot of times is their reason for not wanting to check prices. If the stickers are inaccurate, then the employee is shown up for not keeping up with re-pricing as he should.

PSP
Hot Shots Golf Open Tee $1.97
NBA Street Showdown $1.97

When I asked for a price check the employee told me the correct prices were already on the games I asked him to please scan it on the computer he did these were the prices that came up he tried scanning each game eight times. lol

This just shows how YMMV the pricing is, Hot Shots scanned for $13.97 at one Sears I went to, $19.99 at another one and finally $2.97 at the last one. I gladly paid the $2.97 since I was hoping to grab it for under $5.00.

I also saw but did not buy NBA Live 06 for PS2 for $8.97
Outrun 2 (regular version) for XBox for $3.97

I saw Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2 GameCube for $11.97 each at Sears is that a good price for those games?

I went to a different Sears store hoping to pick up extras of HSG OT and NBA SS. I could not find NBA SS this store had lots of copies when I went earlier in the week I found one HSG OT but it rang up $5.97. I attempted to do a price match using my receipt from the other transaction at first he said I could price match but then he said I had to buy the game $5.97 and get the price adjusted at customer service I declined his offer.

Found Hot Shots: Open Tee and Ys: The Ark of Napishtim for $3.97 each and NFL Street 2 : Unleashed for $1.97 today. Not quite the prices I was looking for, but there was only one copy of each, meaning I had to grab them. I passed on XMen Legends 2 for $4.97. All PSP prices.

Thanks guys.

Not really, I'd wait until they drop again. Both games are worth like $5-8 used...

What version of NFL Street 2 is $1.97? I Saw an XBox versions yesterday...

It was funny this lady at Sears that could barely speak english was asking me if I resell the games and was talking to be about how her young daughter has a DS but she only plays the games for a short while and then stops playing them so she is thinking about not buying any more games for the little one =P

I'm sorry, it's NFL Street 2: Unleashed for PSP. I'll edit my post.

i went in today and took a quick look around, saw cabela's alaskan adventure on the 360 for 24 bucks, saw it was 26 bucks used at gamestop, and that one didn't even have the original case.

When you guys find these games (especially interested in Hot Shots Golf for cheap) are they out in a special clearance display or do you have to get someone to take them out of the glass case and get them scanned?

They have two tables with wooden sides in the back of the electronics department at the Sears where I shop. Most of the games at this Sears has the correct clearance prices on them.

I have to hit Sears this morning for some more line for my weed whacker before I start my yardwork so I'll have to hit up the electronics dept while I'm there.

^If you're going to the Sears on vivion, good luck at the Sears there. They just dumped all their games from the cardboard display into a wood table/cage, such a pain getting to the games underneath.
^If you're going to the Sears on vivion, good luck at the Sears there. They just dumped all their games from the cardboard display into a wood table/cage, such a pain getting to the games underneath.
That was the one I was going to check. I haven't been over there for a couple months. Last time I was there they had some cardboard displays up with a majority of their games locked in a glass display case.

I checked the Vivion store and they do have 3 wire "crates" in the gaming section with titles from various systems marked $19.99 or lower. Nothing worth noting there. I did notice that in the glass case they had a whole stack of PSP games but you can't see the spines to read the titles. I didn't have time to ask if they'd open the case and let me rifle through and see what they had. They also had a round table that had clearance items on it. They had stuff like 360 faceplates, DVD remotes, and one Wavebird controller. The Wavebird was marked $23.97,not the greatest deal, but given it's rarity these days I went ahead and grabbed it. I was hoping it would ring up lower but no such luck.

wow, found a new and sealed FFTactics Advance for $2.97. Can't believe nobody picked it up :)

they also had Fire Emblem GC for $14.99. Picked that up, but I just realized it was opened and taped shut :bomb: good thing everything inside is still like new though.

You have to be careful with checking games unfortunately. Every Sears I have been to has games with the shrinkwrap torn and the disc probably missing. It is great having the cheap games out so you don't have to get someone to grab them from the case but it's annoying to find something only to see it's been tampered with

I found The Outfit for xbox 360 at two different Sears this morning but it rang up $10.97 at the first store and $12.97 at the second store. I passed. I did manage to score a extra Hot Shots Golf Open Tee $1.97 I am willing to trade it for NFL Street 2 Unleashed psp. PM me if you are interested in making a trade.

I just got back. Got a black Xbox S controller for around $9 and PD Zero for $24. I don't need the S controller so if a CAG wants it for what I paid plus shipping, PM me. Otherwise, I'm going to return it.
wow, found a new and sealed FFTactics Advance for $2.97. Can't believe nobody picked it up :)
Holy crap, great find :applause: I got one for $4.97 awhile back and gave it to my friend for his birthday. I still have a sealed one from TRU $9.98 which will stay sealed.

Just got back from Sears Essentials in this area (Rockford, IL.) and they had a lot of games marked down. One of the kids that works there said that they are making room for the new plan-o-gram (everybody that works retail knows them and hates them) and it calls for them to pull all the orginal Xbox games out of the run. Problem is that the plan-o-gram wasn't big enough for all of their Xbox360 stock so they were clearancing out some of the older titles. I grabbed King Kong for $8.97 and Condemed for $14.97. The kid said to check back every couple of days because they were going to mark down games as they made room for the new stuff. He also mentioned that the new plan-o was set up so that the new releases would be at the top of each rack and then regular stock would have 2 skus down each rack vertically. So if there were 6 racks vertically starting below the new releases there would be a single game facing in the top three racks and another game in the next three racks from top to bottom. Then all the other regular stock would be behind these games in alphabetical order.
That has got to be the craziest way to organize product. It seems like they are trying to make it look uniform and organized but that is entirely the wrong way to go about it. I give it a week before the store manager or dept. manager scraps the entire concept and just puts everything in alphabetical order. Of course it would keep games hidden from those that wer too lazy to seach the racks and therefore give CAGs a fighting chance at clearance stuff.
