The old Sears clearance thread was almost a year old, so I've taken the liberty of creating this one. I went back and wrote down the drops and lowest reported prices so far for all of 2007. The games may ring up more or less for you as prices are YMMV (your mileage may vary). The games should ring up at some sort of clearance price at every Sears store that carries games. They may not be tagged on clearance at your store, so you should have them scanned to find out what they ring up as. My local Sears rarely tags the clearance games, so I have to refer to this list. Games drop out of the system about a month after they hit $0.97.

Some clearance games at Sears were restocked over the holidays with new UPC stickers over the original UPC. These are ringing up $9.99-$19.99 as marked for now.

These prices are good at Sears, Sears Essentials, and Sears Grand stores.

Lowest reported prices (games may ring up less or more at your store):

If you have a new game or lower price to list, post it here and I'll update the OP periodically. Even if a game is only a few dollars off, please report it here. The price WILL drop on a regular basis. When reporting a price, please give us the game title AND system.

Here's a link to the old thread: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103736

In my experience, the list of clearance games at Sears isn't YMMV, but the specific clearance prices are (prices drop at different speeds at different stores. Also, people keep complaining that the clearance games are ringing up $15-20 at their stores. If they would actually read this post, they'd know that's because those are restocked holiday games with new UPC tags. The old stock of those games should still ring up on clearance if you can find them.

And because people can't read, I'll say it again:

PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!
PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!
PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!
Just got back from Sears Essentials in this area (Rockford, IL.) and they had a lot of games marked down. One of the kids that works there said that they are making room for the new plan-o-gram (everybody that works retail knows them and hates them) and it calls for them to pull all the orginal Xbox games out of the run. Problem is that the plan-o-gram wasn't big enough for all of their Xbox360 stock so they were clearancing out some of the older titles. I grabbed King Kong for $8.97 and Condemed for $14.97. The kid said to check back every couple of days because they were going to mark down games as they made room for the new stuff. He also mentioned that the new plan-o was set up so that the new releases would be at the top of each rack and then regular stock would have 2 skus down each rack vertically. So if there were 6 racks vertically starting below the new releases there would be a single game facing in the top three racks and another game in the next three racks from top to bottom. Then all the other regular stock would be behind these games in alphabetical order.
That has got to be the craziest way to organize product. It seems like they are trying to make it look uniform and organized but that is entirely the wrong way to go about it. I give it a week before the store manager or dept. manager scraps the entire concept and just puts everything in alphabetical order. Of course it would keep games hidden from those that wer too lazy to seach the racks and therefore give CAGs a fighting chance at clearance stuff.
Hey, a local CAG! First one I've seen on here. That's news to me about the new layout. I might have to run down there sometime soon in that case.
It's a shame stores are stop carrying XBox games especially since new games are still being released.
Blame Microsoft for that though. It's hard to support a product when the parent company drops their own support for it.
Blame Microsoft for that though. It's hard to support a product when the parent company drops their own support for it.
I wish Microsoft would release a redesign of the original Xbox, maybe lighter and smaller. It bother me how most of the Xbox games, especially platinum hits are still not on the backwards compatibility list for the Xbox 360!
It's a shame stores are stop carrying XBox games especially since new games are still being released.
Only a handful of new games have come out this year and I think Madden will be the last Xbox game. As much as I blame Microsoft, I have to blame the chipset maker (NVIDIA?) as well as they wanted a ridiculous amount to continue producing chips when they renegotiated the contract. Since the 360 was almost out, M$ chose to dump the original as opposed to way overpay for the chipset. They both should be blamed for not finding a reasonable middle ground.

I did notice that only NFS Most Wanted (huh, not carbon?) and NCAA 08 were the only xbox games in the regular rack. I've been putting off checking my sears and I'm kicking myself now. They have already redesigned and all of the clearance stuff is in one big bin by the door. I know I missed out on alot that I could never find before or get price checked by an employee since they're never around. They had a pair of GIANT racks for the frontlane style games (the ones with the big white or green stickers).

I did get 360 NBA2k6 for 2.97 and XBOX NFS Underground for 4.97. XBOX PGR was 1.97 and XBOX Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow was 14.97!!!! I thought that was required to be 9.99 as it is. Tourist Trophy PS2 was 31.97.

This was at Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, GA.

I can't believe those XBox controllers aren't like $7 used at GS/eB yet....there is one store around here that literally has at least 35 of them.

Cmon now, freshzen, this is Gamestop we're talking about now, they keep shit at an elevated price till they see it isn't selling big numbers across the board, then if they see another area is selling big, they'll ship the product selling the most out to another store.

I don't blame them though, shipping stuff to other stores where it might sell, instead of collecting dust at one where it isn't.

Well, I'm pissed. I went out of my way at lunch today to go to Sears in Greenville, SC...and their clearance bin was completely gone! I just picked up a Gamecube and knew that Sears had quite a few of the 'cube titles left when I was in their a few weeks ago.

Talked to a CSR and they shipped out all of their clearance games. Sucks for me.

Also in Rockford. haven't seen the new layout yet, might have to go check it out.
I'd pay cost + shipping were someone to grab me NBA 06 / 2k6 for 360. Maybe $6? PM Me.
Come on, how bout a couple extra bucks for the person nice enough to go find it for you...
There's a SHITLOAD of War of the Monsters for 3.96 at my local Sears. Otherwise, there's nothing.
Havent seen that game at any sears around me for a long time... it was one of the games me and friends traded in over and over on Rhino's 2 for one deal (which was so much better than any of the crap CAG's are getting so excited over at GS these days...)

The Sears at the Columbia (MD) Mall had a bin at the entrance to electronics with some clearance games marked an extra 10% off as a "Manager's Special". I picked up Kameo (Platinum Hits, $23.97 -10%), and I saw Rogue Galaxy ($31.97 -10%), among other things. They had to manually take the extra 10% off at the register, so I'm sure it's YMMV elsewhere. They hadn't done a great job pulling games, because there were still copies of Kameo and Chromehounds in the glass case with no markdown stickers, even though they were also in the discount bin.

Haven't seen this reported yet so...

:gc:
Platinum GC Console: $49.97

Saw this yesterday at a Sears in MN, along with $35 GBA Micros.

I wonder if the Metroid Prime Bundles finally dropped from $100...
Also in Rockford. haven't seen the new layout yet, might have to go check it out.
Wow, two other CAGs in my area. Now I know why I can't grab any deals :) They indeed have started reorganizing over there. The rack with all the old clearances is now jampacked and difficult to sort through at the moment. A lot of those titles have been there for months too. They just can't get rid of DBZ: Budokai at $3.97.
On the box? No, but there was a shelf tag showing the price.
thanks. might check tommorrow when i pass by my EBstop. :bouncy:

Yea I work at the sears in st louis and my manager brought up the remaining 5 gamecubes and told me to put this huge 50% sign on them. We have to manually reduce them and the manager has to approve it.

The gamecube is VOM (very old merchandise) and will be written off by the 7th of august I believe so get em while they last.

Manually reduced prices usually means the deal is YMMV.

Yea I would guess its YMMV. I also should note that when something goes to VOM managers have approval to mark it down 50% from the current selling price. So feel free to ask the manager to see if he'll do it
Found a Gameboy Player for 47.97.
The Gameboy Players were marked down to $19.99 used at a couple Gamestops I stopped at yesterday.

I hit up a way out of the way mall(Susquehanna Valley Mall down from Bloomsburg, PA) and I found the following(clearly marked and ringing up the right price even):

True Crime:NYC(Xbox)-$1.97
MK: Deception(Xbox)-$1.97

They also had 2-3 of the Xbox controllers left, but I guess if you try to buy the 'better' colors, they still want more for them.

Green S Controller-marked and rang up $13.97
Blue S Controller-marked and rang up $23.97

Needless to say, I didn't grab either of those. I forgot which other games were cheaply priced, so I was just looking for the clearly marked ones. They had a couple of huge bins of clearance or otherwise $19.99 and lower games in the game section.

The clerks told me that even though SOME Sears may be clearing out their game sections complete(Columbia Mall, Buckhorn/Bloomsburg, PA), others will be getting in more next gen stuff and focusing MORE on it.

I was actually down that way to find some animal refuge down in Penn's Creek with a friend, we found it, but they didn't wanna stick around.

They almost didn't want to sell me Madden 06 for the 360. It is unmarked in the case, it rings up $1.97, the worker thinks it's a price mistake and it can't be right. They go to Sears.com look it up and see it's $11.97. They say it must be a mistake and someone entered the wrong price at this store. I pointed out the Sears.com listing was for the original XBox version not the 360 version. I then said that there were other games on clearance in the case just nothing is marked. I finally got it, then him and another worker asked me if they had anymore besides the one I bought. I said no and they were saying how they should have brought 12 of them and taken them to EB. I doubt Sears ever had 12 to begin with and they'd be losing money since there is no way EB gives more than $0.25 or $0.50 for it. Even FYE only gives $2.00 for it. I'm keeping it in hopes of a 360 price drop. I'd rather take 06 for $1.97 then 08 for even $29.99 (which isn't going to happen anytime soon).

Stopped by my local Sears Grand store yesterday and ended up snagging a copy of Godfather (PS2) $4.97 and also the same price for The Outfit (360) but that one went to my brother thats to lazy to look for cheap 360 games..

Went to my local Sears today and picked up a Logitech Wireless action controller for the PS2 for $15.95 ,They had it on a 50% off marked price clearence table. Thats all I saw of interest.

I didn't have time to really look at everything, but I did pickup a copy of the 360 version of King Kong for only $5.97. I remember seeing the 360 version of "The Outfit" for $5.97 as well. This was at the Chicago Sears at Lawrence and Wolcott.

Man you are lucky I went to sears tonight and paid $8.97 for King Kong 360! They put stickers on the front and said even if it rings cheaper they have to charge me the stickered price. They had the outfit for $14.97 stickered, they had about 8 or 9 King Kongs 360 and a ton of Kameos and Perfect Dark, but they all were stickered over the UPC's. :bomb:

That's ridiculous. Because the store is too lazy to change the price tags on the games, they aren't going to honor the real price? I'd complain to corporate. Almost every game I have bought at Sears over the past 3 or so years has either not had any price sticker, had a full price sticker or an out of date clearance sticker.

Same here. I wish I could just get an employee to open up the glass case and let me price check whatever I so desire since just about everything is mis-tagged, outdated or overpriced. I'm sure to find some deals that way without focusing on a few games and experiencing a hit-or-miss scenario on pricing like the one above.

Dammit, I'm gonna have to check my local Sears again, see if they have any PS2 Godfathers laying around, since my one buddy got up to Underboss on my Xbox copy before I took back my spare Xbox(HUGE thanks to icruise for hooking me up with that) and games from him. LOL

He only had it cause his three nieces(who run round like lil banshees)were gone away for 2 weeks.

Of course, now he has my non gh Red Dead Revolver and AO San Andreas for PS2, but I just hope he doesn't misplace them like he did my Pirates: Legend Of Black Kat. I didn't get that fuckin game back for 2 months after he left it in their PStwo and they took it back.

Yeah the games I found were on some little display rack with a big " take an additional 50% off" basically right as you walked in the store. They still have numerous copies of MGS 3 Sub ringing up at $29.99  . Last time I was there in June they had a bunch of Suikoden V and Tales of the Abyss and this time they were gone ? They were marked at regular price last time so I wonder if they put them on sale to move them or shipped em off to a different store...
Got a metroid prime gamecube bundle @$39.99. It rings up @99.99, needs manager's approval
omfg that's an incredible price.

They had a Mario Kart GameCube Bundle at my Sears but it rang up at $99.99, and when I told the guy no thanks, he got kinda mad cause he pulled it out of the case for me. O'well

The Dayton Mall store had a decent selection of games on manual markdown. I picked up the following.

360 - The Outfit - $5.47
Xbox - Green Controller S - $5.47
Xbox - Outrun 2 - $2.97
PS2 - Dragon Ball Z Budakai 2 - $1.97
PS2 - Jak - $1.97
PS2 - Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal - $3.97
DS - Battles of Prince of Persia - $3.97

I passed on a lot of PS2 games that were $5 - $10 and a Live Subscription card for $39.99

Sweetness! There was a sign stating "50% off Pink Tag". I clarified with a clerk that it was an extra 50% off the price marked on the pink tag. So I picked up: (before discount)
King Kong - $13.97
Tony Hawk's AW - $19.97
Perfect Dark 0 - $23.97
Total = $54.91
50% off applied after total, required supervisor card
Final Total $29.38 ($1.93 tax)

They also had Chromehounds (360) and Phantasy Star Universe (360) at the $12 price after discount, too, but I passed on those.

Also marked were two pairs of Motorola X205 360 Headsets (looks like NFL coach) (review) - total would be $7 or $8 after discount.
Should I go back for the headset or Chromehounds?

Edit: Also, Call of Duty 2 (360) (GOTY Edition) was marked as the same price as COD 3, $47 or so. But it was pink tagged, making it like $25 after tax. Shame, I've been trying to pick it up for a while. Other random games in the case were pink tagged like Superman, XBLA Unplugged, and Pimp My Ride to be about $15-20 after the discount.
No sign of the $40 gamecube.
Was $39.99 the sticker price on the box?
They have a big sign that says $39.99. Have about 8 left. Sears really did a nice job to sell gamecube, I guess.

They still have 4-5 metroid prime gamecube bundles left. amazing.

I was at Sears today at the Baybrook Mall in Friendswood, TX and they had about 4 360 logitech harmony remotes on clearance for $39.97 as well as 1 360 20 GB HD for $39.97. I picked up a non-gh copy of Hot Shots Golf for the PSP for $3.97, but there wasn't much else. I figured some Houston area CAGs might be interested in those Harmony remotes or the 20GB HD.

I have no luck at all with Sears. The only thing decent was the GBA Micro Famicom for $35ish last month, just went to the only other Sears within 20 miles -- bupkiss.

Ive only had really good luck at one of the Sears I go to, the one in my mall, Ive been to many others in the past couple years, and aside from 2 or 3 games per haul, mostly I come home empty handed

The Sears Essentials stores around me rarely had anything, except for those DDR Marios around the holidays
