Sears Clearance Thread Summer 06

Not open for further replies.
Update:
Almost all of the games in Novi, MI have been marked up to 9.99 or 14.99 with a generic red sticker. There are a few random clearances left though...
This is true of most Sears stores. If they happen to have anything left it's likely to be $10 or less by now. Everything else is out of the system and will likely ring up as: Video Game, and is stickered $10 or $15, just like the games at Kmart that went out of the system.

Since the previous "weird Sears clearance thread" is a bit outdated and a bit difficult to read, I decided to go ahead and make a new clearance thread to follow in the same format as the infamous Target clearance threads.

From the previous thread: http://cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76977
Here's a compiled list of everybody's finds so far in the thread. The price following the game title are the different reported prices.

All prices and availability is YMMV, and a lot of it seems to depend on the cashier. A lot of these games aren't in the system, and in many cases they won't sell them to you. Two options here:

A)If a game isn't in the computer when scanned, the cashier can try typing in the Stock number that is on the sticker for the game on the shelf.

B)Some people have had success bringing up another known priced game and getting both for that price.

* Also to note prices are rounded UP!!
* I just want to say how much dick the posters on fat wallet enjoy sucking, for we all know this will undoubtedly get reposted over there word-for-word, with no credit to the CAG community

** All games listed below are games that I have seen, or have seen posted recently in the previous thread, I will continue to update the list as required.

*** Please attempt to post all additions as follows:

Game - System - Price
ex: Conker - Xbox - $5

**** Prices are obviously YMMV, I have listed the lowest known price, however prices may be double or half the listed price, depending on your luck.

***** My current theory is that the games marked with a "Jun" clearance sticker are actually now 1/2 price at most stores, "Jul" clearance games may drop again in September, while the "Aug" clearance games are naturally up to date.

******Prices seem to be dropping again as we near September, the actual price in some cases my now be 40% less than the listed price.

Whether you make extra money on that or not, you should still do it. That's why you get paid hourly.

I work for Cingular, and I hate dealing with billing problems, but that's what my salary is for. Everything else is just icing on the cake.
You have to understand that we don't get commission on Video Games so it's a big waist of time just randomly ringing up prices for you... That eats away at money we could be making on other customers... Sears employees including me get paid shit unless we sell bigscreens. It's also true that there are only 1 set of keys in each department. You should report that employee because no one has the right to say that to you... It would be automatic termination...
i worked at Toys R Us for 5 years. we didn't make commission either. i don't give a sh*t if people don't make additional income off of my video game purchases. people in retail are hired to do a specific job, and they'd damn well better do it.

"big waist (sp) of time"...? you don't have to work there. it's that kind of attitude that gives retail clerks a bad name!
I picked up the following games in Holyoke, MA

Chibi Robo 14.99
Geist 14.99
Pokemon Pinball -GBA 6.97
Crazy Taxi 2.97
Slugfest Loaded 5.97
Silent Hill 4 9.99
Pikmin 2 7.99
King of Fighters-Maximum Impact 6.97
Hamm Hamm Games 5.97
Astro Boy Omega Factor - GBA 5.97
Trace Memory-DS 4.97

Not much of a selection left but I did see Metal gear Acid-PSP for 14.97 but I dont own a PSP
Strange because MGA is $9.99 at my Sears, while Astro Boy is still $7.97.

Anyway, last time I was at Sears, I picked up Soul Calibur II (PS2), for $5.97. I own the game for GC, but since I normally leave my Cube at home (while I'm away at college), I decided I should buy it for PS2 (my PS2 is always with me).

You have to understand that we are tech nerds and geeks. We buy bigscreens (eventually) or at least HD or plasma even if we're cheap. I don't have one yet, but the purchase of a new TV one of these days is inevitable. Do you think I'll choose Sears if I associate it with poor customer service and waiting around a lot trying to attract an employee's attention?
Wow I have never been treated like such crap before in my life. I went to Sears on my way back from class today and the whole place was empty since it was around 2pm, so I took my time lookin at the games. There werent any good deals in the discount bin but i did see Ridge Racer DS and FZero GC in the case and asked a guy "could you please open this case up so I can check some prices". He said "i hate how you frat guys walk in here and think you own the place im on break find someone else". I was wearing a letter hoody so i guess he put the dots together but man what the fuck im a customer and I was being polite. fuck sears im not going back unless there is another big sale.

Oh and this is the Ann Arbor Briarwood Sears.:bomb:
Find out what he drives and then "break" his window using a magic rock. Man do these things make windows look purty:p

Then the asshole should have signed up for a different department or find another job. I realize that a simple price check brings about the possibility of missing another sale, but the focus should be on the customer at hand and not the mirage you see in the distance by the plasma.

I checked the cost of Trace Memory that I hid a few months back and it still rings up as $9.97. I guess I'll have to give it a bit more time.

In the Sears in Greensboro, NC in the Friendly Shopping Center today I picked up:

LOTR: The Third Age - 4.97
Genji: Dawn of the Samurai - 9.97
Pikmin 2 - 7.97
Advance Wars DS - 7.97
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones - 4.97

Nice haul, especial since I've been pinning for AW:DS and RE for awhile now.

Yet you picked the job and part of that job is customer service. If you dont like how you get paid you shouldnt have taken the fucking job cock knocker.

In the future, just say you want to buy some games from the case. If they scan for more than you wanted, just decline and say you thought they were a lower price or on sale. It's amazing how many Sears/KMart/Target employees don't want to open the glass case to scan a game to check a price.
I checked the cost of Trace Memory that I hid a few months back and it still rings up as $9.97. I guess I'll have to give it a bit more time.
I guess the price on that is YMMV since it was $7.97 when I checked a few weeks ago

I'm getting different prices at different Sears. 2 sears within 15 minutes of each other - 1 had Gretzky 06 for 7.97, 1 had it for 2.97. Trace Memory has been 4.97, 7.97 and 9.97. Those price checkers have been getting a workout, though for some reason theres never one near electronics.

Rolling Acres, OH

PS2 Gretzky 06 - $2.97
Xbox NHL 06 - $1.97

Akron Chapel Hill

DS Polarium - $6.97
GC THUG 2 - $4.97
GC Pikmin 2 - $7.97
GC Metroid 2 - $7.97
Xbox 007 Agent Under Fire (PH) - $2.97
Xbox SSX Tricky (PH) - $2.97
Xbox R Racing Evolution - $2.97
Xbox Top Spin - $2.97
Xbox MLB 2K5 - $2.97
Xbox Sega GT Online - $4.97
Xbox Amped (PH) - $4.97

Boardman - Craziness here. Asked about FFXI, lady starts yelling about someone a few days ago that spent $400 and wiped them out on clearance stuff and she only sold them 3 out of 4 FFXI's. I told her that it was a store in PA that does this, and she goes off on a tourettes rant. I ask about a few games, and she keeps shoveling games at me, voluntarily price checking stuff and arbitrarily marking stuff down and throwing it in my bag. At the end I go to pay with my paypal debit card - BAD IDEA. I haven't been yelled at like that since I stole a silver dollar from my grandma when I was 7. ANyways:

PS2 FFXI - $24.97
GBA FFTA - $8.97
DS Trace Memory - $4.97 (override)
DS Metroid Pinball - $4.97 (override)
DS Tiger Woods - $2.97 (override)
GC Madden 2005 - $2.97 (override)

Makes me wonder if clearance prices have to be inputted store by store ala K-Mart, whus making it YMMV until everyone gets off their ass and updates

Dave

I believe that is the case as I ran into that with SSX On tour for PSP a few months ago. I scanned the UPC at one store and it was $6.97 but OOS. Another Sears had it but it was $14.97. I asked if they would price match the other Sears and the cashier told me all prices are the same at all Sears (which of course is not true for clearance stuff as this thread shows). A week later, that store had it at $6.97

Ive met some really nice clerks at sears, other than the occasional "its the sticker price ones", ive gotten around that by just telling them i want this game, that game etc and declining if its the wrong price, which it never has been yet so far.

If anyone ever made a comment to my face about anything they better watch out because i will be doing all 3 things one of the above posters mentioned, including reporting to management and district management if the store management wont do anything. I have plenty of retail stores around me to shop at, i also do a lot of online shopping.

Doubt it would happen though, our sears seems to have a lot of clerks that walk around and do nothing, even in electronics, never had a problem finding someone to get games out of the case.

I guess I am lucky I have never had a problem at Sears. All the employees there have been friendly and always willing to help. Can someone please update the Sears clearance list? Tetris DS, Super Princess Peach, Final Fantasy IV Advance, Donkey Kong Country 2 GBA, Donkey Kong Country 3 GBA, Kingdom Hearts 2, New Super Mario Bros. are screaming to me to buy them.lol

I got Advance Wars DS for $7.97

They also had some other games.....anyone have a complete list on whats the current prices?

I saw a Donky Konga but wasnt sure....ill go back next time cause its been there for a long time.

I picked up Advance Wars for $7.97 and Trace Memory for $9.XX today at the Sears in the Waterbury (CT) mall today if that helps anyone.

They also had Kingdom of Paradise for $7.97 but I didn't bite because I wasn't sure if I'd play it enough to warrant it.

Thought about getting Pikmin 2 and Star Wars: Rogue Leader but both were marked with a red $20 sticker and I didn't feel like having them price checked.

Mario vs DK 7.97 gba
Rise of the kasai 6.97
Fire Emblem gc 14.97
Chibi robo 14.97
custom robo 14.97
wipeout pure 14.97
war of monsters (still!) 9.97
Pac n roll 9.97
transformers ps2 14.97

Anybody know the price of metal gear acid2 ?
or mario dance dance(whatever the name is) with the matt???????
if i feel good i will check out the glenbrook mall one tomorrow in fort wayne
all i saw was a sprung for 4 bucks and tons of older junk. They took all the games and tossed them in with the movies in a big bin.

I was just wondering the same thing - there are copies of Astroboy GBA that I've been drooling over but hoping it would go to $5. Maybe I'll go check Sears tomorrow morning...

Just hit Sears this morning - all they had left were Astroboy GBA for 4.97 (which I bought), Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced for 3.97 (which I already had) and Fzero GBA fro 3.97. Also Tiger Woods DS for 5.97.

I have one brand new sealed Donkey Kong Jungle Beat GAME ONLY no bongos for trade it still has its original $39.99 price tag on it. I want a new Fire Emblem Sacred Stones or a new Meteos DS. Can someone please hook me up?

I have been looking for Astro Boy and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Is there anyway you or somebody else can help me get these games?

Sorry to butt in, but is this deal in the states only, or is it also available in Canada? I really wasn Final Fantasy Tactics, and Fzero to a lesser extent for GBA...

Can anyone else confirm those two previous posts? I scanned Trace Memory about 8 days ago and it came up 9.97. Not so concerned about that as I already have it, but I want those psp games.

Went in to my local on Friday and got Silent Hill 4 (9.99), Fire Emblem Path of Radiance (14.99) and Metroid Prime Pinball (7.97).
