I hope it will still have the classic versions though....
should be cool.

any thoughts?

Wow, this is actually a great deal compared to those in Japan, who had to buy EACH of these remakes separately. Can you believe that?

*psst* Fantasy Zone. Cool.

I will be buying it solely for Golden Axe. There was a time in my life where every single quarter I could get my hands on went into that arcade machine..
Golden Axe was panned by everyone who so much as looked at it's box art. Space Harrier took some heat too.

For $20 it's worth a look though.
Even with crappy reviews I don't see how $20 is a bad deal for essentially the same classic games but with spruced up graphics.

I'm still waiting for the updated Space Harrier on Gamecube.

EDIT:
* Outrun - As you blaze across the checkpoint in your supped up racer, the road branches - which route will you take?
* Golden Axe - Travel to the Dark Ages and wield magic spells as a warrior, maiden or dwarf.
* Space Harrier - Teleport to deep space in seconds to battle futuristic monsters and robots with lock-on lasers.
* Columns - Arrange falling jewels in piles of three or more horizontally, vertically, or diagonally and remove them while making chains that earn you the big points.
* Alien Syndrome - Blast invading aliens and rescue the captives held hostage in the spaceship before the clock winds down.
* Fantasy Zone - Climb aboard your Opa-Opa (ship) and get rich quick as defeated enemies drop coins.
* Monaco GP - You'll leave plenty of tread ripping through these crazy courses. In certain modes, if you cross first, the car is yours.
* Virtua Racing Flat Out - Grab the wheel and take a trip back into Sega history in this remake of the arcade classic.
* Tant R & Bonanza Bros - Play alone or grab three friends to play through 40 mini-games! Clear them all and you'll gain access to the special Bonus Game.

* Outrun
* Golden Axe
* Space Harrier
* Columns
* Alien Syndrome
* Fantasy Zone
* Monaco GP
* Virtua Racing Flat Out
* Tant R & Bonanza Bros

wow. all on one disc
when they released them as Sega Ages in Japan they all were seperate for $15 each!
No Streets of Rage or Virtua Fighter, GAY.
Comparing it to the list it seems like we are missing 7 titles, which includes After Burner II and Phantasy Star II :(

We're missing a lot of games. How much does a DVD hold? 4.7 gigs? How big is a complete Genesis ROM Collection? Can't be more than 10 I think....

I know asking for both the original and a remake for over 1,000 games is ridiculous, but come on... Streets of Rage.... VF 1 and 2... come on Sega....

Screw later volumes... if Sega wants to milk us fanboys for money then they should re-release Rez, a bunch of old Panzer Dragoon Games, Jet Set Radio, and others.

Those PS remakes are coming out together on 2/1 - I, II, and IV.

Really? This title has sex with similar classic collections?

I have no clue what you're trying to say but.... I use "GAY" as a proclamation of dissatisfaction.

easily worth $20. I'd like see some other re-issues. Maybe release the entire Shining Force series when the latest one is released on PS2 later.

Habit. It most likely originated as a projection of society's anti-homosexual attitudes.

Such an oxymoron. The word gay means happy yet you use it as "a proclamation of dissatisfaction" :lol:

Anyways im glad sega is finally making these. I personally dont think virtua fighter needs to be seen for a while(go play evolution or something) but man oh man i would love to play street of rage on one of these.

No puyo...i feel your pain but at least there is columns that game is pretty fun and along the same lines.

All of these are really early Sega games mostly from the Pre-Genesis arcade years so I wouldnt expect to see anything like VF untill atleast the third edition. I could imagin Puyo being on the second along with Afterburner and Power Drift.

This collection rocks, I can't wait to see how they changed Virtua Racing. Now I just have to hope sega ports this to other consoles.

I'm still waiting for a portable version of Pengo and other earlier classics. There was a Game Gear Pengo but it didn't get a US release.

Virtua Fighter 2 for PS2
I mean in the classic series, VF1 or Last Bronx with flat shadded polys.
Well, it was in the japanese Sega Ages line.

I want an updated remake of Altered Beast...

Why can't they get off their lazy asses and remake/port modern classics like the Sakura Wars series instead of porting all these oldass games from the 1980s?!
This collection rocks
Not quite. Sega's 6-Pak for the Genesis had a better selection of original greatest hits titles than this compilation. Several current releases (like Midway's Arcade Classics 2 and Activision Anthology) offer a much larger selection of classic games for the same price. By comparison, Sega's offering seems pretty weak.

Not really since the games were updated with new graphics, etc.
Alien Syndrome? Hot dog! I would also love to see Gain Ground and Eternal Champions in a future volume. :D
as long as EC is the Sega CD version

Well, of course! I was just too lazy to type out "Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Darkside". :wink:

The Altered Beast remake was canceled, allong with a few other remakes they were working on.

Oh?

Juouki Project Altered Beast comming on 1/27

Seems like it might still be on it's way.

But over all Sega nas never been a very "smart" company, I have a feeling they value their arcade catalog a bit higher than Midway's or activision's home catalog which it why they deliver them in smaller chunks thinking "they;re getting much more game for their dollar from OUR package."

As for why this rather than Sakua Taisen, These are proven games to them while ST is a game they may not make back the localization costs on... they did make one that take place in the american steam age apparently but whether or not we ever get it here will depend on Sega can wake up and realize they have a market for their "quirky" titles here.
