Sega Dreamcast Console - Amazon $120

Not a horrible deal. I'd pay $120 shipped for a NEW Dreamcast from Amazon. Key word there is NEW and not gently abused.

I'm not saying its a deal at all -- just find it unusual to be available in this fashion, new from Amazon. There may be some folks hesitant to buy a used one, so here's there chance to get one from a big retailer, if that makes it a more comfortable purchase for them.

i was kinda surprised by this....You can even use that trade in promotion where they will match 50-75 dollars of trade ins to get the DC

The official Amazon picture is of a pretty beat box, so people should keep that in mind. My guess is that either Amazon found a handful in a warehouse of theirs somewhere, or they're getting in on the same action that ThinkGeek did (obviously, whoever the source is found a lot of them).

Regardless, I enjoy the resurgence that the DC has gotten recently.

10 year anniversary.

One way or another, its very old stock.

10 years later new copies of this are still floating around. I saw a new one at Play N Trade recently for $80.

I still love that system - can't bear to part with mine. There's some really quirky games out for it, as well as mainstream stuff...

I just tried Samba de Amigo for the Wii. I find the control scheme inaccurate and think the maracas and Samba on the Dreamcast was cool. Definitely quirky but awesome.

Unfortunately, there is not a single game that I can think of for the DC that hasn't been ported to either the GC, PS2, XBOX or even the Wii

yahoo ran an article recently about a lot of major retailers getting new Dreamcast stock that is actually selling well (msrp = $99). I dont think Sega is manufacturing again because they cut out the GD-Rom discs some years ago but this stock has to be coming from somewhere. And Sega has to be taking notice. Would it be a horrible idea for them to contract with PNT or Gamestop to sell some Dreamcast greatest hits games? I can't imagine the manufacturing costs would be high and the cost could be kept around $15. Just a thought of what may be a good idea that will never happen.

I bought mine with 2 controllers, 2 vmus, and about 100 burned games for $10.00 at the Flea Market. They had about 3 more there too.

10 total? o_O

Woow, pretty awesome deal

Seaman, chu chu rocket, record of lodoss war, shemu, those spy shooter games, Sonic Adventures.

Those are the ones I can think of from my collection. But I have a few games that were ported to other systems also.

What kind of fool pays $120 for a Dreamcast? I bought mine from Shrike a few years back and it game with more than a dozen games for $70.

I still have an one new with the old smack pack in the box unopened. I got it at a shopko near me when they went out of business for 25 bucks and just too lazy to sell it and have 2 all ready out of box.

Seaman? The original 4x4 Evolution? I can think of others if you need more examples. The Dreamcast was an amazing console for sure.

EDIT: Didn't see the Seaman listing in the original post. There were a number of games that have not been ported though. Very enjoyable games at that.

i have chu chu rocket for the gba.

I'm not saying it's a deal at all, simply pointing out that Amazon has them for sale, which seems pretty odd IMHO.

Jet set radio.

The Xbox one is a sequel.

Ported does not always mean = or >

The first Shenmue and Jet Set Radio.

I can't help but think about the 3 dreamcasts I bought for myself and friends, from gamestop for about $24.99 each a couple years ago.
I find it funny the OP keeps saying it isn't a deal, yet he posted it in the deals forum.
How many Amazon DOTD weren't actually "deals"? Sheesh! THe mods can remove it, I don't mind at all. I don't think it is a deal at all, but someone else might.

How much does shipping cost for it at Thinkgeek.com and Gamequestdirect.com? I checked both sites but Thinkgeek is currently sold out and I'm not a member of Gamequest.

That's not too bad. I just read Amazon's details and it sounds like either 50 or 75. So if it's over 50 but under 75 you only get 50 and not the exact amount you traded in. Basically double so Dreamcast can be had for $70 (not including your trades).

What do you mean by member?

Great system, must have found these in some liquidator/manufacturer warehouse. Good to see they are selling well.

I love my Dreamcast. I got a new one on eBay for ~$80.00 a few years back after my launch unit crapped out (on it's fifth brithday, no less 9/9/04). At the time I also picked up a couple used ones at Gamestop for $19.99 a piece. I'll never even have to think about life without a Dreamcast.

To the guy who said there is no worthwhile games that haven't been ported to other consoles - you really don't know much about the DC library, do you? There's tons of great games that aren't available anywhere else. One standout no one has mentioned yet is Project Justice. Good luck finding that at an affordable price, though.

It would be incredibly funny if someone used that trade in for $75 off a console. When I looked at the page is showed up there.

I was planning on that with a bunch of fodder.

ah, Dreamcast, although I loved you, I wrongly abandoned you as soon as I got a PS2, then I brought you back, spent twenty bucks at Radio Shack to replace the VMU batteries, and then one week later, I found a PS3 and I abandoned you again

I'm sorry for that but you still have the best version of Soul Calibur out there though

[Jaw hits floor] I can't believe this. I had to search for "Saturn" just on the one in a billion chance....

Does Amazon have any new games or VMUs for sale too?

I'm almost as shocked by the people going "this is not a deal!" Umm...a ten year old system showing up for LESS than MSRP, BRAND NEW, from about the most reputable store on the planet IS A DEAL. If you don't want it, fantastic, go on to the next post.

That is an AWESOME idea!

They *need* to release Jet Set Radio. Hmm...what else. I suppose Sonic Adventure is an obvious choice (and it's better than the Gamecube port, and better than every sequel I've played since). Seaman's awesome, but needs that microphone.

Dang, I miss Sega :(
Why would anyone pay that dam much o_O, i saw 3+ working ones earlier today for only 30-40 bucks in a pawn shop.
Because many of us don't shop at pawn shops and don't want a used system?

Future's good too, but IMO the first one's better in every way. Music's much better too. I love that soundtrack.

Fatal Fury Mark of the Wolves got a PS2 port but only in Japan. Word is it's coming out for XBLA and PSN soon but, for now, it's a Dreamcast exclusive. If you're even a casual fan of 2D fighting games, it's a must have.

Another awesome 2D fighter is Last Blade 2. Again, it got a PS2 port in Japan as part of the Last Blade 2 in 1 pack but there hasn't even been a peep of it coming to the 360 or PS3 anytime soon.

Street Fighter III Double Impact has also never seen a port even though 3rd Strike got onto the Anniversary Collection. So far, the DC is the only system that has all three SFIII games. If you're a completionist or collector, the DC is the only way to go.
