Select FYE stores are clearing out their video game stuff

Apparently some F.Y.E is clearing out all their games. All games and hardware is now being sold at 30% off. And I mean EVERYTHING!

I talked to the employee there and she said that they are clearing out a majority of their stores of their video game stock and only carry video games in a few FYE locations.

The selection was okay, i picked up table tennis at $14, NHL 2007 at $20 and Gunstar Super Heros at $7.

I freely admit that I didn't read through all ten pages of this, so if this has already been mentioned, sorry.

Obviously, this is stuff that happened a while ago, but my mall has a Saturday Matinee and an FYE. Same company obviously, but Saturday Matinee was the only one that carried games.

So, I head out, hoping to catch some deals... and it's gone. All gone. Every single game, system, everything... just gone.

Apparently, instead of clearancing it, they shipped it ALL downstairs to FYE. It was definitely the same stuff, so that was sort of confusing.

It was all normal price, too, so I guess I'll still be stuck with the same things that haven't sold for a year... just in a different location. Way to go, FYE. :applause:

This reminds me of a funny story I heard at at the FYE in Winchester VA. They were in the same mall as a Suncoast, also owned by Transworld. Suncoast closed. The FYE managers figured all of the Suncoast stock would be shipped back to a warehouse somewhere.

But NO. One day the Suncoast employees showed up at the door with the entire store's stock on handtrucks. Corporate told them to dump it all on the FYE, and the FYE had no clue it was coming.
did they still have the Official wireless guitar for Guitar Hero?
Uhm, I think I remeber seeing some guitar hero games and guitars on the shelf behind the games. but don't quote me on that.

Sam Goody @ Town East (Mesquite, TX)

Tons of bins and all video games are 50% off.

I got:

Metroid Prime Hunters - $17.49
Star Fox Command - $15
Elite Beat Agents - $15
Capcom Mini Classics - $5

All were brand new, sealed.

Still tons of games left, especially PS2, PS3, Xbox, and Xbox360. Watch out for used games, as they are mixed in, but clearly marked.

i got arcade unplugged for ten bones. it came with a one month xbox live card but im set for the next like 2 years already. is that a deal or do you think it will eventually get lower somewhere
Uhm, I think I remeber seeing some guitar hero games and guitars on the shelf behind the games. but don't quote me on that.
ok. wait... :D

I just need to keep telling myself that I don't need another guitar...I don't need another guitar...

One of the guys in the fye in my mall said they're sending all their stuff back tomorrow (Thur. 10/11). Sadly, no further discounts. I'd be interested in a couple of the 360 accessories if they weren't still vastly overpriced even with 50% off...

I guess it's YMMV on when the stores are giving up?
I'm getting ready to make some phone calls tomorrow...hoping for 75%.
1st rule of Deal Hunting NEVER EVER call you might: A) tip off a greedy sales clerk or B) they just don't look.

The store is 80 miles away, the sale has been going on for about a month now, and the sales people at this store have been pleasantly helpful...so I will call. Please don't call the CAG Secret Police on me.

I know of at least 2 stores within 50 miles or so of me that're clearing out their games, one which is less than 10 miles away and the other is just too far of a trek, even for me right now.

But, the last time I checked the closer one, they had crap, plus I'd probably be a typical cheapass and wait till 90% off if they had anything left by then.

What can I say, I am definitely a true cheapass.

Sale is still going on at my local store too, but nothing really GOOD left there, though I may go back for the SEALED original SOCOM with headset for $14.99 after discount, plus at least ONE more title which was only $7.50 plus tax after 50% off.

Either way, this sale is a bust for me. Oh and the clearance must be to clear OUT the ENTIRE gaming section, since where they once had the games in the local store is now a wall of DVDs. Kinda sucks, since I thought their prices on some used games were decent, as was the quality.

Oh well.....

Why go 80 miles? You will end up spending more on gas than you will on saving on a game.

I only went once and got a 360 HD drive and 120 gb hard drive for 50% off (180$), 360 wireless controller and play and charge kit 50% off (35$), and 4 360 games for under 50$ total...who cares about gas? They still had some PS3 games left that would be worth a second trip if they drop to 75% off.

Sale is still going on at my local store, but nothing GOOD left, though they had a Socom bundle(and yes, I'm talking the ORIGINAL, with headset) marked $29.99.

Why oh why couldn't my local FYE stores have received Adventures Of Darwin, since I have about $30-40 in credit to kill left from their bonus 40% trade deal a while back.

Though the one store down the line about 15 miles from me had a sale going on, mix and match cds, dvds and games 3 for $20. Nothing good though, as expected.

Just to clarify, that sale is for used items priced

It was marked for anything $7.99 n under @ the store by me. I wish they had the same deals online, since then I could just do a search for items marked $7.99 instead of digging through woefully unkempt shelves for an hour and not finding a third title worthy of the deal.

Went by an FYE in Baton Rogue LA (sorry bout that loss Tigers...lol) and while there was alot of stuff, there was nothing of interest to me
lol, thrill kill
I take it Thrill Kill is a laughable title? If EA would allow the damned old game to be released or the license to be used, imagine what they COULD do in HD graphics with a game like that? :whistle2:X

I sadly haven't even played it yet, since I can't find a 'copy' and don't have a way to make one myself. :whistle2:X That's what I get for being a cheapass when modifying the specs on this new pc and not even putting in a cd-r drive. :whistle2:X

fixed;)

LOL sick part is, i had a dvd drive from a friend who got rid of their old pc, the drive was maybe a year old....but i either took it apart or sold it....one or the other.....otherwise, id probably watch movies on this too

That's a shame cuz I was really lookin' foward to another 50% trade-in deal by FYE... I'm assuming that this "clean house" they're having will pretty much make any chances of seeing that again next to zilch. :'-(

I already dumped all the games I wanted to during that trade deal, so I'm good, but still looking for a couple games, which they never got in since they were 'niche' titles.

I just cleaned up at my local FYE. Tons of games available. I certainly could have picked up a few more that I was on the fence about, but my total was already over $150 so I held off.

Make sure to ask if there are any games behind the counter [that is where the newest games were]

My haul:
Resistance (PS3): $30
God of War II (PS2): $20
Ratchet: Size Matters (PSP) $20
Final Fantasy III (DS): $20
MGS3: Substinence (PS2): $15
Diddy Kong Racing (DS): $15
Star Fox: Command (DS): $15
Ratchet: UYA (PS2): $10
Ratchet: Deadlocked (PS2): $10
Capcom: Mini Mix (GBA): $5

If you know of an FYE in a rural / small town area, search it out. It will probably be worth it.

I went to a FYE music store. They were getting rid of their games. Here is what i snagged (all new)

2x PS2 Shadow of the Colossus Black Label $10 each
1x Xbox Alien vs. Predator Extiction $12
1x PS2 Final Fantasy XII $10
1x PS2 Killzone Black Label $10
1x PS2 Yanya Caballista: City Skater $4
1x PS2 DDRMAX Dance Dance Revolution $13
1x Xbox Futurama $10
1x PS2 Dual Hearts $6
1x PS2 Unlimited Saga $6

Not the greatest deals ever, but i think it was a good haul for 81 bucks+ tax.

my fye is picked clean in the viewmont mall i went up and pick up some crappy games to add to the backlog well some were like 3-5 bucks each this is not the first time i will play crappy cheap games and not the last either

You mean out of the bundles of crap I saw they had left up there the other day? I didn't see anything I'd have paid even $3-5 for, but if I checked values and they were still worth more at other FYEs, I woulda picked them up for flipping at most. Only one I was tempted by, was the Socom complete set.

My fye told me "we're shipping this stuff back on Thursday" again this week. We'll see. There are a couple of PSP games I'd really like to pick up if they'd just mark them down a little further...

I went to the Macomb Mall store (northern Detroit suburbs) and the District Manager was taking all the games off the wall racks and putting them in bins. I guess they'll still be there for a little while longer. And the I found out the 50% discount is only on new games.

Anyway I picked up:

Timesplitters: Future Perfect: $6.40 (reg $7.99) used, PS2
Project Snowblind: $6.40 (reg $7.99) used, PS2
Perfect Dark Zero: $8.00 (reg $19.99) new, X360

I used my member card plus it was my birthday to get a 20% discount. So it was a little over $22 for three good (not great) games.

The two used games were never opened though. They still had the silver strip intact on the top!
Friday will be the day they increase the percent off IF they are going to do it. Just have to wait until they give me that 75%.
How do you know this?

that socom set is 39.99 that is not worth it if you bought it i would have laughed at ya even at 20 that is no deal

Actually, I thought it was listed @ $29.99, which woulda made it $15 or so, but yeah it's still too much for a 5-6 year old game.

Nothing much left there that I haven't already seen cheaper elsewhere, so maybe I'll re hit the store in WB this weekend, see if they have the 3/$20 deal.

I know there aren't too many CAGs around here, but just in case, I thought I'd let you know that the Lynchburg, VA FYE seems to have stopped the sale but is keeping the games.

Also, they have a brandnew PSoneLCD combo. How much are those actually worth now?
I was thinking of checking FYE today, but if the sale is over, I won't worry about making a trip there.
It would not hurt to call in just to see what was going on there... my local FYE stopped it weeks ago, but I went to a couple who still were running the sale
I was thinking of checking FYE today, but if the sale is over, I won't worry about making a trip there.
The Lafayette FYE is pretty much cleared out, they still have some stuff in boxes, I think I saw F1 for the ps3 for half off though, which made it 30 bucks or so.

They still have some things I'm considering picking up, but I gotta make up my mind soon.

Everything was still 50% off there.
