Select FYE stores are clearing out their video game stuff

Apparently some F.Y.E is clearing out all their games. All games and hardware is now being sold at 30% off. And I mean EVERYTHING!

I talked to the employee there and she said that they are clearing out a majority of their stores of their video game stock and only carry video games in a few FYE locations.

The selection was okay, i picked up table tennis at $14, NHL 2007 at $20 and Gunstar Super Heros at $7.
I went in today to buy singstar pop, as I thought it was a good deal for $25 with the mics. Unfortunately, the manager decided that is was hardware. Ha. Singstar for $45 is not such a hot deal, so I just left.
I got it for 25.00
Is Halo 3 50% off?
I went there today hoping so. They told me it was regular price. But I figure it depends on who you ask. I'm sure someone who isn't paying close attention would sell to you for $30 considering the signs say "all games $50 off." I'm gonna try again tomorrow since they had a few copies left.

I got Tony Hawk 8 on 360 for $15 instead. It rang up at $25 but the tag said $30 so they adjusted it. I assume they could do the same for Halo 3.

I stoped by local FYE today. I saw saint row sticker price $50. It should be MSRP $30... i wonder every FYE stores markdown $15 after 50% off or $25 after $50 off... Most of the games i saw old FULL MSRP price sticker & it scared me... so i walked off the store w/o buy anything.

Just grab stuff and have it price checked. Chances are, if it should be cheaper, it probably is. They just haven't updated the price tag.
No joy at Berkley, MI. Everything is full price.
Nearest one to us is the Macomb Mall location in Roseville. No PSP stuff, very limited DS stuff, *gobs* of PS2 stuff, and some XBox and Gamecube stuff. I suppose there was some PS3 and X360 as well, but I wasn't really looking for those. Next nearest is the Port Huron store.

Yeah, and to add to this Spectrobes was 19.99 on the site, but marked 29.99 in the store. The cashier rang it up for 14.99 and I told her the site had it for 19.99, so it should make it 9.99. She scanned it again and adjusted it. I dunno if Spectrobes was still 29.99 in the store and she just manually adjusted it or if they have to check, but it wouldn't hurt to check the prices on the store and argue the price if it doesn't come up right.
I got it for 25.00
I went back in later to try a different employee, and I couldn't find it anywhere. I bet the silly manager who said it was hardware bought it for himself.

Bah. I wasn't going to buy anything else there anyway, but now there is probably no way I am buying anything from then unless it makes them lose money.
I think the store at the North Riverside mall is clearing out games and accessories.
I don't think that's close to where I am... I tried the Dundee Mall, who shipped all their games to the big mall in Schaumburg (woodfield?).

The evening of the halo 3 launch, I had some time to kill, so I found my way to that mall. The only deals they had on games there were three games 7.99 and under for $20. The bins with those signs had no games under 7.99. Everything was at least 12.99 and up. I asked the girl about it, she said they just threw anything used into the bins. =\

I made another trip to FYE to pick a few accessories. I ended up leaving with a 360 wireless headset and a silver PS2 controller for a little under $45.

I might go pick up a few more 360 controllers and a few 3/1 month XBL cards later this week if they are still there.

headsets were only ringing up 30% off for me (45~), what about you?

the FYE in the Vancouver Mall (Washington, not BC) has an official GH Wireless controller still, saw it not 30 minutes ago. I didn't have the cash on me or else I would have grabbed it. $59.99, and the sign says "all accessories 50% off". The sale continues until the 4th according to the people working there.

Just tried to get Halo 3 for $30. They told me that and Madden 08 are excluded from the sale. Guess I'll have to wait until 2014 when MS puts it on Platinum Hits.

I picked up Pokemon Diamond for $17.50, Nintendogs for $15.00 (got my niece and nephew covered for Xmas!), Capcom Classics mini mix GBA for $5.00 (nes version of Bionic Commando), and all three Black Box non-GH versions of Sly Cooper for $10 a piece. I picked all these up at the Redmond WA store, and there was still a fair bit of ds and ps2 games (tons of pokemon pearl, diamond, and fire red). As well, I noticed a Xbox 360 wired controller for $20.00 and a wireless for $25.00...probably should have picked up the latter. They also had a few 360 headsets left. My listed prices were after 50% discount, btw.

I finally stoped at 2 FYE stores which both had the 50% off today and got a good haul... I was also told at one store that the 50% off is supposed to end next Thursday as well but he wasn't too sure as the 30% didn't really end when it was going to originally either. I was also told that after this clearance thing is all said and done they are shipping off unsold games to other FYE stores that are going to continue carrying games.

First store (Phillipsburg Mall - Phillipsburg, NJ)

PS2 games, etc.
Yakuza $15
Maximo vs Army of Zin $7.50 (couldn't find that anywhere, even used until now ^.^)
Black PS2 controller $12.50

DS games...
Mario Hoops 3 on 3 $15
Elite Beat Agents $15
Touch Detective $15

Second store (Palmer Park Mall - Easton PA)

DS game..
Mario vs DK 2 March of the Minis $15

PS2 games...
Max Payne 2 $5
The X Files: Resist or Serve $10
Mega Man X Command Mission $7.50

Good deals if I do say so myself. I think Touch Detective was on sale or something at GameCrazy (right?) but I couldn't find it back then.. OT but sadly I had no luck at Sears due to a severe lack of any customer service. I did manage to get a GBA to GCN cable at EBGames for $1.79 though. ^.^

I didn't think much about this clearance until I read that someone picked up the HD DVD drive for the 360 for 50% off. So I went to the FYE website, used the store locator and started making some calls. If a store was having the clearance sale they told me immediately, so I just asked if they had what I was looking for. One store out of three that had the sale had a 120 GB hard drive and HD DVD drive for the 360. One three hour round trip later and I had both for 50% off. I couldn't find any wireless headsets though, but I guess I shouldn't get greedy. Now I just have to figure out a way to hide this from my wife.

Yeah, the whole time I was driving I kept worrying that some donkey was going to waltz into that store and steal my cag deal right before I got there. I guess going to church last week paid off.

By the way, anybody hoping to get the HD DVD drive and the 5 free movies rebate needs to buy the drive TODAY Sept. 30, 2007. The rebate only works for purchases made by the 30th. Good luck.

The FYE on route 44 in Raynham, MA is closing. There's still a crapload of PS2/Xbox stuff (even new original Xbox Forza bundles), some PS3 games about maybe 10-15 360 games. No Wii/Gamecube. An okay amount of DS left. Lots of GBA games behind the counter. Tons of kid games.

Stumbled on a FYE with this sale yesterday, it had been mostly picked over though. No new releases at all; there were a few promising used games but no 50% on the used games. :(

Probably should've picked up the 360 wired controller (would've bought a wireless if they had it) and 360 play & charge kit, and possibly the wireless PS2 guitar they had (no price marked but 50% = $30). Oh well.

Just checked in with the FYE at the mall (Huntsville, Al). Lots of PS2 video games that are 50%, few Xbox 360, and a good chunk of DS games. Since I stalked up on DS games for Xmas presents, I got a few PS2 games. Needless to say my christmas shopping is done for my sister. She has...about 10 games she's going to get for Xmas. :)

Sorry if this has been asked before, but are there promotional materials in the stores that are having this clearance? If not, how do you know they're having it?

should be stickers of the price slashed down on the games. The one I went to had the games on a seperate table with a banner & sign saying they were 50% off. If not, it won't hurt to ask.

The two stores I visited had signs posted at the video games section, and eventhough one store still had the 30% off signs up, the prices were 50% off in the system. You can always save time and money by calling your local stores and asking...if they aren't doing the clearance, the employees won't have a clue what you are talking about.

Have people been able to combine the Backstage Pass 10% off with the 50% off clearance games?

Also, I've never played online on the PS2 or Xbox. I have a quick dumb question: is it still possible to play online PS2 or Xbox games (without buying a subscription) or have the game makers shut most of the free game servers down due to these 2 consoles becoming old?

Xbox live requires a subscription and PS2 is up to the game developer. EA shuts down all their old stuff regardless of platform. On top of that you have to deal with only a few people playing whatever game it is.

Backstage pass still works but it takes 10% off the already 50% off price, not the original price.

Heres my list of games I've bought at my local Fye for 50% off.

Ratchet and Clank size matters - $20
Yakuza - $15
Medal of Honor European Assault - $10
Black - $10
Xenosaga 2 - $5
Timesplitters 3 - $5
Beyond good and evil - $5
Onimusha 2 - $5
Dragon ball Z budakai 2 - $5

I think I'll go back again just to see if I missed anything good.

Last time I visited the store, the employee there told me this sale was going to end tomorrow, Oct. 4. I'd like to hope that they would just increase the discount again. So let's keep each other informed of what's going on at our local stores and see what happens.

I was first told Oct. 4th, but when I returned I was told by my store it had been extended to Oct. 11th. It's not a big deal since I already bought the handful of games I wanted from their very limited selection. There might be other good games there I don't know, but I don't have time to read tons of reviews.

Went to my FYE yesterday, and they are not clearing out thier games. I can't imagine they get that much business for anything as they are in the far corner of the mall ...... oh well. I was hoping to pick up another (or a couple) of 360 wireless controllers.

I talked to two different stores today. One said that the sale would go on until all their stock was sold. The other said until the 11TH, which is odd since they told me it was ending today last week. I think we may be able to see drop soon to 70% or something seeing as its been a couple of weeks since the drop from 30% to 50%.

Well, a few days ago I whined on here about a manager only offering 10% off on Singstar pop with mics, then buying it himself. I went in again today and found it. I watched that guy leave on his break, and the person who was still in the store gave it to me for 50% off.

Just visited the Tanglewood area FYE store in Roanoke, VA. PS3 is almost wiped out; PS2/360/Gamecube are all hit pretty hard. Surprisingly though, they still had an excellent DS selection -- lots of 1st party titles left on the shelf.

I picked up..... after 55% off (50% then 10% Backstage)

2x Pokemon Pearl ~$15
2x Pokemon Diamond ~$15
Resident Evil 4 PS2 $9
God of War PS2 $9
NBA Street 2 PS2 $4
Altelier Iris 3 $18
Mario Kart DS $15
New Super Mario Bros $15
Big Brain Academy DS $9

Ah, nicely done. Color me impressed. :applause:

nice haul, were all the ds games factory sealed? i ran into a few obvious reseals but for the most part nothing but good stuff

At the FYE at the vancouver mall (shoppingtown - quite possibly the worse name for a mall I've ever heard). I picked up sly 3 for $10. (50% from $19)

That's also the name of a mall up in Syracuse area, as I hit there a couple times when I was up there for an auto auction. I haven't been up there again lately, but I nabbed about 5-6 copies of the Oblivion guide up there the last time, as well as a couple non-LE God Of War II guides.

I gotta hit there again sometime soon, since they did a crappy job of yanking stuff @ the GS up there.

Only certain stores are running the clearance and they have signs up in the video game section, some stores have signs at the entrance.

Anyone in the local NYC area that has been to an FYI that is having these sales. Seems like there is none in this area that is offering this up.

I'm out of luck too. I hate this cursed town. Sears doesn't have any of the clearance stuff, neither does FYE, Target or Kmart here. I'm gonna burn this town to the ground for being full of nickel and dimers.
