Okay, so I just called the toll-free number and just got off the phone with a lady named Ashley. She told me that from the information they had, ALL Game Crazy stores were to begin the liquidation today. I told her that I had heard of some not starting today because they hadn't had their stock shipped out yet, and she said that if that was the case, they would be given until Monday to start. So basically, if your store has everything they need shipped out and you know it, go today. If they don't have everything shipped out and you know it, go Monday.

If you're back to square one because you don't know how your store's shipping is going/went, hop aboard and join the club. :/
 
I just drove about a half hour to check out the GC near me and the clerk said that the sale does not start until Monday. This sort of ticked me off since I wasted time and gas to get there, but to be honest, there was NOTHING worth buying anyways.
The store that I went to was in Washington Township, MI.
 
I Just called my local one that is closeing he said that it starts monday because they don't have anything to sell. Go figure. Basically they are shipping out the good stuff like the op said.

They should have just sold the in store stock I believe that would generated more traffic because of the excitement. I now
believe all I will see is refurbed and stuff no one was buying anyway. Bummer
Thats gamecrazy for you. For a minute I was excited.
 
For the long term survival of Gamecrazy, shipping out the good stuff is probably the way to go. Reading the joystiq comments however, it sounds like inevitably all locs will close.
 
Okay. This is getting ridiculous. So I called the Murfreesboro, TN location (the closest to my house) and was told their liquidation doesn't begin until Monday. Alright, that's cool. I have a couple other options, as I'm a bit busy Monday. So I called Hendersonville, TN. No answer. Okay, whatever. I'll call back in 15 minutes. So... Last option is Brentwood, TN. I call them. I ask the guy who picked up the phone if their sale starts today. He says yes. THANK GOD. So I tell him about my predicament, and how a bunch of other stores hadn't started because everything hadn't been shipped out yet.

Then he tells me they hadn't gotten everything shipped out. He should probably call the manager and get back with me.

So if you were planning on going to Brentwood, TN for the sale today and they decided to wait until Monday to start the liquidation... *Whistles innocently*
 
I'm disappointed in the new news that's come out recently, but I'm still going to try the GC by me that's closing since it's on my way to the library anyway. Oh well. What really sucks is that I found out that this store is closing, even though it has always consistently been one of the best ones in the city in terms of merchandise, customer service, sales, etc. Well, I guess sales must have slacked off or GC is mismanaged and run by idiots closing off the wrong stores. I'm going to have to buy all my games online soon, what with seeing as Gamestop is going to be the only store left.

This "liquidation" sounds like/has written CompUSA and CC all over it.
 
Well, according to the Joystiq list my nearest one (Wheaton, MD) is closing. I never really frequented it that much, but maybe I'll go out there today and check it out.
 
I just contacted my local store and he said that their store as well as all the ones in the area for sure are not starting the sale until Monday. He also claimed it was a company wide announcement, but as you all seem to be finding out, this may or may not be true. YMMV I guess. As far as MN stores go, you're better off waiting until Monday it seems.

liquidations are total rip offs, especially at the beginning

on top of that there is not going to be any good product either

30% off is nothing, do the math

save your time and gas and just call to find out whats left and when the sales starting, i doubt things are going to FLY off the shelves

LOL! I called the guy in Brentwood back, and he said she hadn't been returning his calls... He guessed she "was really mad at the company, probably wasn't even up yet, and probably wouldn't come into work today." XP Guess I should call him back and let him know where she is. :p
 
The one in Richmond, VA was packing up their stuff Thursday. The manager there was really cool. I would have actually bought stuff there if they weren't closing... But he said the same thing - there isn't gonna be crap left for the liquidation. Only crap will be left in the stores to clear out.
 
Like I said before, Monday is the company wide start date. It also changed, as it will no longer be a 30%/50%/80% liquidation, but rather just 30% until the 18th. Past that, it is unknown what the liquidation discount will be. Also, since the 30% off all items is a barcode that all employees must use, which I also believe is dated (I don't remember, but I can find out later today when I go to work), you wouldn't be able to get your items discounted unless if the employee manually prices stuff.
 
Oh yeah. I give up, though. The guy working at Brentwood was trying to ring things up to see if they were 30% off yet, and he said nothing yielded results. DON'T TRY TO GET THERE AT OPENING TODAY UNLESS YOU KNOW FOR A FACT THEY ARE STARTING THEIR LIQUIDATION TODAY. CALL BEFOREHAND JUST TO MAKE SURE, AS THINGS DEFINITELY COULD HAVE CHANGED SINCE YESTERDAY NIGHT.

And if your store is confirmed to start the sale today, I'd classify it as YMMV.

I called today to confirm and the store on Harshman Rd in Dayton, Ohio is closing. Liquidation starts Monday.

The stores on Patterson in Dayton, Ohio, E Alex-Bell in Centerville, Ohio, Hiawatha in Springboro, OH, and Towne in Franklin, Ohio should all be okay. The clerk said the closest store closing is the one on N Cable Rd in Lima, Ohio, but I haven't called to confirm that.

unlike you guys, they said used games are going for 30% off so if I can find mass effect for the 360 and come out with it for about $10 then i'm happy I don't mind. you guys are expecting alot for a little. oh and the ones in the 956 area said they won't start sale until monday @ noon
 
Was at the store in Puyallup WA, and manager today said his closing store isn't even going to have the clearance sale, he has to have everything shipped out by this Friday. I'd feel bad for him if he wasn't such an asshole to customers and spend most of his time playing games instead of working.
 
Went to mine in RC, California.

They moved their opening time from 10 am to 12 pm. Peeking through the window, their game cabinets are wiped out. And probably the only newes games I saw on for sale was Bionic Commando.

Everything else was like Bad Company, Kane & Lynch, Infinite Undiscover, and some of the older games.

I was going to go check out the one on Glenside here this afternoon on my way to the Botanical Garden (2 weeks left for the butterfly exhibit). I'll report back what I find in the Richmond thread.

I don't suppose anyone has an inkling of a list of how we can put some of this together with the GS $20 trade-in bonus that ends tomorrow?

Went down to the Highland Park, MI store and they said they ARE NOT closing. I asked who was and he said that Lincoln Park was for sure (didn't ask when sale started since I'd rather go from my work in Dearborn) and possibly the 15 Mile & Utica or Mt. Clemens locations.

I heard they shipped all the games and hardware worth more than 20 bucks to other stores. You can't really get any good game if you wait until 50% off. It would be only 10 dollar games (original price 20 bucks). I don't think you can get anything really good for 20 bucks.

Actually 30% is better then nothing not to mention that it will stay 30% until final closure.
 
Location closing in Pewaukee,WI does not start liquidation until Monday.

Kinda odd you would start a liquidation sale during the week but I guess it makes it easier to do the weekly % drops when you start it on a monday nationwide

wow, I dont even remember POSTING in this topic and I got a subscription notification, good to know I guess though.

Sad though, I mean, it was only a months ago I was all phsyched to have gotten that cheap GTA IV launch special edition for like 30 bucks, I guess that odd sale was just a prelude of what was to come.

A shame too, because the guy at the store I went to said that because not as many people come out his way, they have a lot of rare games in stock.

30% was definitely something when I got my 360 at Circuit City.

It sounds like there won't be much left in the majority of stores, but what does it hurt to look?
 
I called the nearest GC before I went over there (even if its less then 4 miles from my house) and he confirmed the Washington Township store is closing and the 30% off doesn't start until Next Saturday. He said the store should be vacant by the 30th of Oct :cry:
 
Went to two GC in San Diego, CA. Both say this sale will start Monday. They aren't even taking any transactions of any sort until then... Lame

I just stopped by the one in Tempe, AZ and they said their sale wasn't starting until Monday. They didn't have much there at all. The only thing I'll be going back to check for is Devil May Cry 4 on PS3.
 
Checked out the one in Valencia, CA. Bunch of Fedex Brown Box's stacked up against the windows. Sells clerk said they are one of the ones staying open. Looked around anyway, saw Star Wars Unleashed PS3 for $14 brand new. So I picked that up.
 
Yeah, I can repeat the following for closing stores:
The 30% off sale does not start until Monday.
They will be selling only inexpensive new and used games (like below $19).
Hours will be 12-8PM.


Some other info I got from a manager. He just moved within the month from the location of a GC remaining open to one that is closing. He basically said that his fate is unsure, that he does not know if he'll have a job at another location or not -- that GC execs are intentionally keeping employees in the dark about this, probably to keep them working until the axe come down.

I can tell you this guy (from what I've seen) is a pretty good manager. The fact that he may be moved to another location means others will likely be let go at some point at locations remaining open. I do not work for GC, but I'll tell you I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable about keeping my job at whatever GC location you work. Maybe they'll expand employment at remaining locations, but I would not count on it.

Yeah- I talked to one of the guys there and he was quite cool. He was trying his best to be positive and talk the company line but it sounded like people were blindsided and no one was happy with the situation. He said that every GC in Virginia is closing so that would mean both of the Richmond ones.

The sale there doesn't start until Monday but he was in the process of still boxing stuff up. If you have credit- you probably should head in early tomorrow before they get everything shipped out. Just like everyone has been talking about in the thread- anything of value is probably heading out the door. So, if you've got more than $20 credit, you're going to be scraping together a bunch of crap unless you hurry and get what you can tomorrow.

That was the impression I was getting from the employee I talked to. Someone in the store asked him what he was going to do and he was told he was going to be reassigned to another video store but I don't think he sounded real confident and it did sound like they were being intentionally kept in the dark.
