I thought it was easy once you find the mind eyes. The first Shadow hearts have a really great story and nice storyline twist. A+++ stuff.

After seeing some of these new videos, my friend has an interesting idea. He seems to think that Johnny is somehow tied into the Romanov's. More specifically, he seems to think that Johnny could in fact be Alexei. They do look very similar, and I don't think they ever said what happened to Alexei. Depending on the date, it could very well be Alexei escaped to America, and took on the name Johnny Garland, much as what happens in Covenant with Nicolai.
i still need to finish part 1. i tried to get the good ending but i'm having problems with the stupid mask.
That's what happened to me. I got to far in the game to get the good ending.(read up on it a game faqs though) But I finished it tonight. I LOVED it! I am geting ready the start convent, in a day or too.

I still have to finish Covenant. But this looks great. I like how they're going with a Female fusion specialist this time.

NOW WHERE IS THE GREAT GAMA?!

Here's the update I promised to many months ago, my bad:

Translations of character's bios on shadowhearts.net:

Hilda - A Magical-girl lookalike. She's actually a 400 year old vampire and is a self-styled heroine. She uses magical sticks as weapons, her appearance changes depending on her calorie intake.

Mao - A giant of a man (i think he mistranslated this, Mao is a cat), He speaks with experience, having lived for many years. He uses a scalpel as a weapon and fights in drunken fist style.

Frank - A fake ninja. He uses ninja swords.... or rather a huge saw as a weapon. Speaks strange english and is a high-tension self-styled ninja.

All scans and translations are credited to the people frequenting the SH: FTNW boards on gamefaqs, especially maskrider, the guy who has been supplying the SH boards with new videos and translating the info.

I won't be updating anymore unless it's something big like say SH getting picked up for release in the N/A, so if anyone has anything new, just reply to the thread.

Wonder if these two will replace the extremly metro-sexual twins from Covenant.

More magazine scans. Thanks to maskrider for obtaining them and DarkPresence (both of gamefaqs) for hosting them.

Edna Capone - Al Capone's sister, Ricardo's love interest

SH: FTNW received 35/40 from Famitsu

6 days from the Japanese release and still no one has picked this game up. :? Hopefully in the next two months, someone will announce that they will be publishing this game (SH II came out in Feb 04 and Midway picked it up in Apr 04).

Fantasy/RPG for ages 12 and up

A new RPG in which, once again, the Judgement Ring takes center stage and will decide your success in battle. The main character, Johnny along with his 7 companions traverse America in 1929.

Oda Chobin's review

SCORE: 9
Comments: The beautiful scenery and your lovely companion Shania seem pulled straight out of a Hollywood movie. The character's dialogue, performance and the camera work are all in top-form. The judgement ring is smoother than ever and the combo system has become more powerful. This time around your enemies are more fearsome but don't worry, the many battles are still quite enjoyable. I also really like the strong and quirky characters.

Score: 10

Comments: What a surprise! This game's just too much fun! There's been a lot of playing around to create a blend of reality and fantasy trickles down into the world that makes up the end result. Better jokes, a tweaked gameplay system and characters you really get a feel for and are enjoyable to play. There are also many more options for customization reflecting the growth of the series but for those worried about the judgement ring, don't sweat it. A masterpiece!

Sentouin Maruko

SCORE: 8
Comments: Each character's personality is developed in this episode through events that come in thick batches. With the war over the tempo has changed pace from the last two games and it's a nice change. Serious in places and silly in others, I think people will prefer this installment over the others not only the unique world and story development. The events are a bit over-long but thankfully they're all quite easy to understand

Daicho Keigawa

SCORE: 8
Comments: pretty much exactly the same as the previous entry in the series, with weaving of subtle gags into a serious game-world but, at it's core is a basic orthodox RPG. The battle system continues to bring into play things like attributes and fluctuating forms while intoducing a high battle stock guage that's raised the bar. But I think the frequent movies stuck in all over the place are a bit too much for some less patient players to swallow.

fuckin sweet! Someone please pick up this game! Thanks for the updates.

I just beat Koudelka and I'm about to start on Shadow Hearts, and I have to mention how impressed I am with the progression of this series. If anything can become the next Final Fantasy, this could be it. I imagine someone will pick this up soon--hopefully I can have Covenant finished by the time it gets here ;-).

I found this funny:

"Curiously, Shania's Fusion transformations involve her clothes falling off every single time...something the male shape shifters featured in the previous games didn't seem to require. It's perhaps a little out of place -- the Roaring Twenties were known for bathtub gin, not hot coffee."

Unleash Hillary!

Haven't been around for much, cos of moving and settling in and all, but I thought I should pop in to share some news.

XSEED games, a company headed by former Square-Enix president, Jun Iwasaki has announced that they will publish SH: FTNW.

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/652/652300p1.html

September 20, 2005 - Brand new videogame publisher XSEED Games (headed up by former Square Enix president Jun Iwasaki) has announced that it will be bringing Wild ARMs 4 and Shadow Hearts: From the New World to North American retailers in the first quarter of 2006. They're the first two titles for the fledgling publisher, whose overarching goal is to properly translate and release Japanese-based titles that should appeal to a hungry U.S. market.

"We are extremely excited to launch XSEED Games with these two quality role-playing games," said Jun Iwasaki, president, XSEED Games. "Our extensive past experience working with some of the highest quality titles in the industry has really honed our ability to spot the best in interactive entertainment. These two titles are the first of what the XSEED Games label will come to represent in bringing great entertainment to the U.S. audience. We expect both Wild ARMs 4 and Shadow Hearts to not only appeal to the existing fans of the series but also attract newcomers."

Shadow Hearts 3 has some interesting character designs...
For the unfamiliar, Shadow Hearts: From the New World is the third game in the Shadow Hearts series and is the direct follow-up to IGN's PlayStation 2 RPG of the year from 2004. Released in Japan this past June, From the New World follows new hero Johnny Garland as he joins an investigation to track down a dangerous criminal during the U.S.' Great Depression. Players can expect new adjustments to the Judgment Ring combat system (like option to execute a combo command with a second character or performing two different actions in one turn), and an all-new cast of supporting NPCs and environments previously unseen in the series before.

...Then again, so does Wild ARMs 4.
Wild ARMs 4, on the other hand, tells the story of a teenage boy who has grown up in a large sphere floating thousands of feet above the surface named Jude Maverick. When the take begins, Jude's homeland is attacked by invaders from the sky, and with help from three other teenage heroes, he sets off to stop the war of Filgaia and embrace his destiny to be something greater. The game's brand new "Accelerator" ability will allow players to manipulate time, and the high-end production values consist of cel-shaded graphics and complete voice-overs during cutscenes.

We'll have more on both of these games fairly soon (including a video interview with XSEED CEO Jun Iwasaki held last month) and have also updated the media pages for both games to celebrate the announcement.

Luckily I held off importing it. :D

One concern I have is that it will be released right aroudn the time the PS3 is released. As such it will be the last few games on the PS2 and won't get as much interest, like Dragon Warrior VII, Tales of Destiny II, Hoshigami etc.

I hope it sells better this time around and rewards XSEED for taking the risk.

Oh man, this is seriously a dream come true. I loved the first 2 SH games. Shadow Hearts 2 is by far my favorite RPG of all time. I can't wait for From the New World to get here!

Awesome news.

I doubt the PS3 will come out next spring after the no show @ Tokyo Game Show.

Damn it seem like you guys are hardcore about this game. I play the first one and thought it have a very good storyline. Battles are okay it get boring after awhile.

wassup with that new character holding the girl, looks like he would come from some FF game Tidus look-alike anyone?

Doesn't look too much like Tidus, IMO.

I'm more concerned with that girl wearing butt-floss. And I thought Karen's outfit was provocative.
Bump this topic up for release Tuesday/Wednesday of this week. Can't wait to go pick it up.
I'm looking forward to it as well, but I'm going to wait until next week; see if BB or CC puts in on sale.

Just placed my order for it on EBGames.com, since I want it tommorrow, and overnight shipping with EB usually gets me my games on the day they ship. Spent $51.30, but well worth it.

Battles get boring? Uh, no, the Shadow Hearts battle engine only gets BETTER as you progress.

Yeah. I ordered mine with overnight shipping from Gamestop when they offerred the original SH with it, so hopefully it'll be at my house tomorrow night and I can go pick it up Wednesday after my lab is done at 12:30.

I've seriously tempted to pick this up at full retail. I haven't bought a game at full price since Makai Kingdom. Shadow Hearts 2 was one of the better RPGs I've played and it's hard to resist getting this too. I might just go ahead and get it since I already got my tax refund.

I've posted this in another thread somewhere, but:

:D

Anyway, I'm getting mine off Amazon.com, I have some credit there. It should arrive by this weekend, hopefully I get done with Grandia II by then.
