Yea they had that kind of relationship in the past with regards to porting Midway's arcade games. Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 are another example of this.

And from the sounds the song, they ripped it right from the CD. Although it's better to have the whole song than repeat the same part over and over, like THQ did with Randy Orton's entrance in Wrestlemania 21. Damn, they fucked up so many entrances in that game.

Didn't notice until know, watch Orton's entrance with the 360 version. You can see the commentators arguing with each other along with swinging at fans.

WWE has released a list of upcoming DVDs. Interesting ones on there are a Four Horseman & Rise and Fall of WCW DVD sets. Although there are bound to be some crappy ones(the DX & ECW DVDs).

Oh and RVD's title match is at December to Dismember.

BTW, Taker & Khali's entrances are up on IGN. Seems like they over did it with the fog in Taker's entrance. Khali seems to have stick up his ass in his entrance, cause he's walking weird.

I'll definitely buy the Austin, Ladder match, Flair/Horsemen, Greatest Families, and Legacy of World Class sets. If the Rumble Anthology is priced reasonably, I'll buy that as well. The World Class set will really have a lot to live up to with Heroes of World Class being so revered. I hope they include the HBK-Hart ladder match from '92 on the ladder match set, but I doubt they will since the WWE.com writeup already lists the WM X one as the "first" ladder match ever.
 
I love how WWE loves to send TNA nasty letters regarding phrases regarding talent and yet they turn around and start calling Kane the "the monster" Kane.

Don't doubt that, it just seems like he has become synonmous with being the big red machine and I can't recall JR calling him a monster or at least not hearing him called a monster recently. That said, I have probably the worst memory when it comes to things that have happened in pro wrestling.

The way Teddy Long said it made me instantly think of Abyss though.
 
Alright, just saw that stuff on WWE.com before coming over here. 4 Horsemen DVD, kick ass. Plus that Royal Rumble DVD could be really good too.
 
The World Class DVD should be really good, although WWE will most definitely change all the entrance music on any matches in the set.

The Royal Rumble set should be nice, if reasonably priced. Now, whatever happened to the SummerSlam anthology they were working on... and the Best of WCW DVD sets we were promised?

Casey is on the right track. Yes, Kane has been described as a "monster" for several years, but that's not the same as what they're doing with Abyss, where the "monster" thing may as well be part of his name.

I dunno, I think it's dumb anyway. "The Monster Abyss" sounds really awkward.

I was just thihking the other day that I would like to see them put out a Horsemen DVD. It will be interesting to see if they cover the whole history or just the glory days.
 
So I'm going to my first ever wrestling show on Sunday... any tips?
It's MCW's Monster Mash show... Featuring: Samoa Joe vs. Chris Daniels. Also featuring Chris Sabin and a bunch of guys from the good local rock station. Already ordered 4 tickets... bell sounds at 6:30 so I was planning on getting there around 6... maybe get some t-shirts or something. Speaking of t-shirts, no one responded to my last post... Does shoptna.com ever have any offers like b2g1 or anything?

If the DVD is 110% Paul Roma free, I'm as giddy as a school girl.

It should be a very good set, I hope; it'shard to get excited when they have a number of other videos coming out (Royal Rumble box) that will be just as awesome.

I still wanna see more WCW videos released. They had some amazing wrestlers and wrestling matches from the early 90s until Hogan arrived (and then they had CW during Nitro's heyday).

I'm excited, the Horsemen were one of the original kickass bad guy faction. Flair & Anderson were pretty much always there, making them a little more stable (no pun intended) than The Heenan Family. Although really, we're trying to pick between classic Flair & Heenan here and that's just not possible.

Last I heard of him, he was co-hosting a radio show on ESPN 1000 in Chicago. He is just as terrible to listen to as he was to watch, trust me.

ESPN radio in general is terrible to listen to. When Mike and Mike are your premiere radio team you got a problem (both come off like pompous douchebags and seem fake). Then again I prefer Jim Rome and I know a lot of people don't like him (he may be an ass, but he makes me laugh (Friday's show was hilarious as he started playing peoples takes from 5 or so years ago just to fuck with people)

Larry was never a Horseman - he was a Dangerous Alliance member with Eaton, Austin, and Rude, but never part of the Horsemen. Jarrett was a member though, when they had five members.

I wonder how much of WWE's revenue streams rely on house shows. Because, seriously, the end of those would mean a lot less stress on the wrestlers and probably a better overall product.

The business of WWE has always intrigued me. Does anyone know a website with figures and such? It'd be an interesting read.

I don't have the time to search for their financial data, but as a publicly traded company it is available four times per year. They do a thorough job of breaking everything down and comparing it to the previous quarters' performance.

I think live events in terms of attendance are on a downturn (they've been stagnant or declining with regard to attendance numbers and income for several years now, and it's evidence of wrestling being in a "down cycle," as they often like to say). Fewer people are coming. This is why they're doing a lot more international shows; first, they sell a massively larger number of seats when in Mexico, Europe, or Japan; second, they can charge far more per seat. If you look at their overall live event revenue, it's the same (or higher?) than it's been in recent years, but the burden of making sure it stays that way is almost entirely on international events.

I think that they should hold off on ECW live events until they can get guys over. There were more "star talents" at the ROH show I went to last night than at your average ECW show. Who cares about Holly, Test, Knox, Thorn, etc? RVD, Sabu, Sandman and CM Punk? Sure. Anyone else? Not fucking interested. Stevie Richards, Shannon Moore, Matt Stryker? You better think about paying ME to watch those guys.

Evidently, Big Show's hurting physically again, so even he isn't working house shows. If you don't have a champion, you don't have a show. Meanwhile, you have four guys anyone cares about, and two dozen nobody gives a shit about. They should have held off on house shows. I'd like to see TNA start touring soon; they could do three shows per month. Simply replace their Orlando schedule with a taping every other Monday in a given city, and the monthly pay per view. I think they could pull it off logistically and financially (sorry guyver and 2Fast).

That was a fun match to see - when I was young, the video store had a WWF video with Demolition on the front, but it was (to me) clearly not the same Smash I knew (Barsow). I never did rent that tape.

The original Smash was one of the Moondogs, and evidently crowds saw through the paint and recognized him. That's the reason they switched to Darsow.

And, for the trifecta: the reason the WrestleMania DVD set is out of print. They're now releasing it with WM22 as well. I got 1-21 for $92, so I don't mind being out 1 PPV for $103. Besides, the Anthology is nice packaging, but at the same time, buying the WM22 3-disc set is nicer, IMO.

I also wonder where the hell they're planning on putting the WM22 DVD, since the box that had WM21 had that disc stuffed up in the lid.
 
You know I just finished rewatching this week's Impact and I noticed something... was that Vince Russo as one of the "security" guards during the Angle/Joe brawl or was that just me imagining things?

That might actually be Darsow, there's a debate among people who have seen it. For me it's a toss-up, as he has Darsow-esque mannerisms but seems too big.

And now for the possible "I'm an idiot" retraction....

That might actually be Darsow, there's a debate among people who have seen it. My immediate reaction was "that's not him." Now I'm not so sure.

I now want to lean towards that one on the right (from the video) actually being Darsow, but I'm not 100% positive. The nose is what seems most different to me, but the angle on the pics on the right isn't very useful. It seems like the Smash in the video should be Randy Culley, because it's obviously from very, very early in Demolition's existence (prior to WM3, announcers still talking like they are brand new, finisher different than the one they would eventually use, no entrance music yet, etc). Darsow was bald as Krusher Kruschev, so that would explain the short hair....

I don't know. It's not worth losing any sleep over. I was Smash for Halloween in 5th grade so this topic is bugging me.

I think he was, we'll know in awhile, since the encore of Impact is airing now.

Myke, your comment about oversea venues got me to thinking. Why the fuck doesn't WWE do a PPV in the UK or Japan? I liked when they did Summerslam '92 in the UK and New Year's Revolution '05 in Bahamas, since it was a change of pace(plus it was a live audience unlike them editing the taped shows overseas).
 
It'd be a logistics nightmare to run them live overseas. Either way, one place is going to be getting the pay-per-view at an godawful hour, and it's most likely going to be the live crowd because WWE doesn't want to lower their domestic buyrates any more than they've already been lowered. Back in '92 the internet wasn't the huge force that it is now, so it was much easier to have the PPV overseas.

I'm convinced it's Darsow now. Culley had the WC Fields' style "drunk nose," and the one in the video you provided didn't. The Smash in the video had a different skin tone, and a build similar to Darsow. For me, I thought it was peculiar that the Smash in the video you gave flexed his pectorals at some point in the match/after the match. Darsow did that *all the time* during interviews.

If you look, Smash had "dirt" or something on his upper arms, like the photo of Culley shows. IMO, they're covering up the one telltale sign that the Smash was definitely Darsow: the eagle tattoo he had on his left arm.

Interesting mystery. I'd complain about overanalyzing, but (1) it's what I'm known fo, and (2) it's Demolition. If we were talking about BodyDonnas, it'd be a different story.

Dunno. I think they should, and I don't think an occasional one would be a bad idea, save for one thing: the internet. They'd have to run the show at a decent time for, Britons let's say, and then play it seven hours later for us (so it's not on at noon). By then, spoilers would be posted, and ruin buyrates. They have to keep the surprise by running the show live. That's my guess anyway.
