Thanks, you were right! None of these games are marked at my nearest Shopko, and the electronics guy had no clue. I called beforehand to have the guy price check Phantasy Star and he couldn't find it. I suppose I should've specified that it's Phantasy with a PH and not an F.
Sometimes it baffles me at just how little communication between store and sales some store locations endure.

So I'm confused here (6th grade band fried my brain today). Do I need to price check games with a price tag on them and is this list for every Shopko? I went to two Shopkos in my area and all the games were marked $19.99 or higher except for the Special Ed. Viva Pinata which didn't have a tag. They price checked it and found it to be 9.99. I want to buy more, but it's a 20 minute drive and a session of convincing the wife to make another trip.

It is for all Shopko stores. At my store we scanned all of the games and threw them in a speed table, but I'm sure most other stores don't have them tagged at all. Since they are on sale and not clearance, there really isn't an easy way to tag them with their current price so you'll have to get an employee to scan the games for you.
 
The store that had a ton of those games doesn't have a scanner for public use so i had to ask for help. It was like I was asking for a lung. Without scanning he said "it's $19.99." and I asked if he would scan it anyway to make sure and then made a funny face and told me the $9.99 price. Guess I'm going back to Shopko.

I went to my Shopko today and noticed they did not have a bin for anything. There was a guy working in electronics and he would scan games for me and I got God Hand (PS2) and Just Cause (360). Its kind of lame that they didnt have stuff marked. I will take them back to get a price match on them after the 20th.

Went back to mine in SPFLD, IL today and nabbed PS3-Ridge Racer, 360-Tomb Raider Legend & Elite Beat Agents for $32.76 or so. AWESOME deal I have now bought 4 games in 2 days and will be going back tomorrow to see if they put anything else out as they didnt have these yesterday when I went out & got Untold Legends.
 
Well, I didn't find Dead Rising at either of our Shopkos, but I did pick up quite a few games. Not only that, but one of the Shopkos had a shitload of games in a bin with a big "$9.99" sign on top of it. My girlfriend took pictures on her phone and I'm going to look through and try my best to post the lot of 'em.

Price labelling is an essential concept to cagers.

The simple reality is that most every retail chain uses computers nowadays. Prices are based not on price tags, but on the item in their system retrieved by scanning the UPC label. So basically the prices of products at most every retail store is what the UPC and the store's computer system says it is. Afterall, you cannot expect your employees always to be on the ball or to go through hundreds (if not thousands) of items everyday to keep them current.

That being said, some retail chains have pricing that goes universal to all their stores, while some chains do some tweaking of those prices across their stores. Stores like Circuit City, Best Buy, and Gamestop hold to universal price changes for the most part. Stores like K-Mart, Sears, Target, Toys R Us, and Walmart tend to use usually universal price changes, but often tweak prices more or less based on attributes of individual locations like stock and store performance.

In the case of Shopko, it's a tweaked universal system that is almost just like the one at Sears. Everything is universal except in some cases certain clearance prices will be +/- $.10-$10. In the case of this $9.99 sale on many of the clearance games, these games and that price will be universal to all stores.

Familiarize yourself with games you want from this post and get those ones regardless of what the price tag says as it should ring up at $9.99. If you find a game probably at least 6 months old that you think might be on sale, get a price check for it and don't just let them say it's the price that the label says it is.

I had this price checked at 2 Shopko's and it was priced at $9.99.
Although I did find Breakdown (Xbox) on clearance for $0.99.
And let me tell everyone I had NBA Street Homecourt (360) price scanned at 3 Shopko's and it's ringing up at $29.99 everywhere.

There are 3 of these in Omaha area and I've only gone to 2 of them. I'm only listing 360 games since that was what I was after. Store on 84th had Saints Row, Viva Pinata and Bionicle Heroes. Picked up Viva and left the others there for someone else. Just got back from the 90th and Fort st. Shopko and picked up Star Trek, DOA4 and Lord of the Rings: Battle For Middle Earth 2. They also had some of the sports games, Tomb Raider, Dynasty Warriors, Enchanted Arms, Bomberman, Test Drive Unlimited and Superman. I may drive over and check out the other one in the area later tonight or just call and see if they have the others that I'm looking for.
 
Saints Row (Platinum Hits 360) did not ring up at the sale price.
Tony Hawk Underground 2 (Xbox) is $0.99, yet the Super Platinum Hits edition rings up at $9.99 - which is really stupid - it's the SAME game!
I hit all 4 Shopko's in Madison, WI within the past few days and the selection varied widely. Only one had a bin marked specifically for $9.99 games. Lots of price checking just to be on the safe side, but it definitely made up for the Circuit City clearance bust. The two CC's in Madison, Wis. had jack and squat.
 
I just dropped by there after work today and picked up

Sonic the Hedgehog for the PS3

And all were at advertised prices of 9.99, 9.99 and 0.99!!!!
 
I was able to stop at a different Shopko today and found some of the standard games (alas no Dead Rising) but I got Enchanted Arms and Prey. I think some games on this list are going to be very YMMV . . . so I can add a few comments:

I picked up a Ghoulies/Corvette double pack but it rang up $9.99 instead of .99 (I may return it)

This store had Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance GBA on clearance and it rang up 2.79. Also I found Valkyrie Profile 2 PS2 for $9.99 and they had Antigrav with Eyetoy camera marked on the shelf at $11.xx but it actually rang up at $4.79 (got the only one).

Also, I saw a shelf tag for Gradius V for $6.89 but I couldn't find a copy . . . drat!

Unfortunately I didn't have much time to really dig . . . I had to get to my inlaws to watch the Packers win . . . GO PACK GO!
