Should I play La Pucelle or Disgaea first?

I'd play La Pucelle first, since Nippon Ichi released that one first in Japan. It's like an older version of Disgaea, and I believe the stories have nothing to do with one another.

I'll liken your decision to watching Snatch and Lock Stock out of order. Snatch is a more refined version of the formula in Lock Stock, so you'd lose some level of appreciation for Lock Stock if you watch it second.

I haven't played La Pucelle yet, but i've heard that in general Disgaea is the better of the two, so i'd play La Pucelle so you enjoy it first, then Disgaea so you wouldn't lose appreciation for it.
La Pucelle is fantastic. I haven't played Disgaea yet, but I got La Pucelle first.
I have to second that one. La Pucelle is an awesome damn game. I haven't gotten very far, but so far, it's been a lotta fun.

I'd say LaPucelle, because it's the prequel to Disgaea. La Pucelle is a little easier to understand at first, and then when you play Disgaea, you'll understand the gameplay right off the bat. I played Disgaea first, since it came out first, and originally didn't like it too much. But once I played it more, I really loved it. Once I got LaPucelle Tactics, I love that game a lot and it got me to love Disgaea even more.

I would love to get La Pucelle and check it out, but i'm lacking in the flow dept.

Oh, and what in the bloody hell is that in your sig SwtDeception?

Disgaea is more 'advanced' and complex, imho. La Pucelle is more 'approachable.'
Disgaea isn't exactly a sequel to LP, except in the fashion that most Final Fantasy games are 'sequels'; ie, they share some gameplay mechanics, but Disgaea does tweak some of them. As far as i can tell, there is no 'story' overflowing from LP to D. They do refer to some of the same places [the shop in both games is called Rosenqueen], but those are not essential to know about or notice, just little 'Hey, they used that name again' things.
I played Ch 1 of Disgaea then put it back on the shelf. I'm on Ch 4 of LP and am having a blast.
If you have them both, I would suggest playing LP first--then Disgaea might make more sense gameplay wise, and if you like Disgaea, it won't be like LP was a 'step down' after the fact.

my avatar? umm if anyone watch excel saga it's in the first episode

La Pucelle and Disgaea both rock. I got them within two days of each other and they were different (stories) except for some elements (dark worlds). Also, La Pucelle is on "sale" at Target for $20 YMMV. It may say $50 on the display but have the employee ring it up. La Pucelle is worth $50, but at $20 its a must have
