Not only is Pirates coming to the PSP in the US 1/22/07, but it's also coming out at $30. Is anyone else out there picking that up like I am? I've always wanted to play Pirates, but I never game on my PC and never snagged the Xbox version.

Normally I don't play turn-based strategy games or sims, but Pirates is one of the best games I've ever played. Its addicting, you always want to just capture one more ship or take over one more town or go to one more ball. Everyone needs to play this game and give your $ to Sid Meier.

I loved the game on the Xbox. If the PSP version is close to it, and it seems like it will be, I'll definitely be picking it up. It's such an addicting game.

Pirates is one of my favorite games of all time. I was able to get the Xbox version for 9.99. Best 10 dollars I've ever spent on a game.

Love this game, bought the limited edition for the PC. Damn Sid Meier owns me, making me always buy his great games.

Did anyone expect that the PSP could handle games like this? This is a great thing, I hope more high caliber titles like this make it over.

once they started porting psp games to the ps2 i figured the psp could handle ANYTHING. hell they announced oblivion for it.

Is there anything new in this version? Personally, I played the xbox version so much that I don't think I really want to get back into it again.

Great game. This along with several other games and the new PS1 downloading ability have made me finally consider getting a PSP.

Best part of the game? Messing up the dancing. I don't know why, but that amuses me tremendously.
I'll confirm this tonight since I'm going to get it. I hope it's true.
I went to EB and they didnt get it in today.

if this game is only $20 bucks definately gonna have to pick it up...Come on does anyone have any word about it how it is load times etc...

I wasn't gonna bite at $30, but for $20 , I'm in. My EB didn't get it in today either. I swear they are getting more like Gamerush.

Everywhere else has it listed at 29.99 bones.

If I order it from ebgames and they actually screwed up the price, they would have to notify me right? I might give it a shot.

Yeah, we didn't get it in today. Between not getting this or Hotel Dusk I'm getting quite annoyed... Last I checked we were a game store. There's no reason stores like Best Buy should be getting this stuff before us. I'd like to use my employee discount, but if I can find it somewhere else tomorrow I'm buying it.

doesn't eb/gs have this thing where if you preorder it and it's not in you get $5 off? i remember this happened when my eb didn't have freaking gears of war when it was supposed to be in. i was so pissed i didn't even want the discount.

That might have just been at the manager's discretion rather than a corporate policy or something.

If you pre-order a game and they don't have it in on the release date, they should be forced to give you more than just 5 bucks, thats why you pre-order the freaking thing...... God I gotta quit buying stuff from gamestop, if they didn't have it listed at 19.99 I wouldn't have. If only SELECT managers are going to do the right thing and give you something extra for giving them your business even after they screw up, I think they really need to re-think their customer service. They just keep getting sloppier and sloppier.

Anyway back to the game, how is it?

That was a special case where corporate decided that. They did that because Gears was such a huge game. No one gives a fuck about Pirates unfortunately.

Anyway I just ordered the game online. I'll let you know how it is.

I got it today, and it's a perfect port. It plays just like it did on the other platforms, though I haven't tried treasure searching and dancing which is supposed to be tweaked in this one.

I had forgotten how addcting this game is. I see a lot of late nights with the PSP T.T

Sometimes Bad weather plays a role. You know if there is a blizzard around any of the major shipping hubs shipments will get delayed...But this being the age of there is no excuse people must die in order to get me my game when you said I would have it I guess thats not good enough.

Damn, gonna have to hit up my local GS for this Friday. It will be nice to have a reason to turn on my PSP once again (haven't in a few months). I've never played Pirates in any form before, but it sounds interesting.

But thats beside the point..... If you take pre-orders for games and don't deliver on the release date, reguardless of the reason (Truck breaks down, building blows up, etc...) You as a nationwide company that respects its customers, and is thankful for their business, should offer a small discount as to compensate for the inconveince. Otherwise people start to take their business elsewhere. I know that a 5 dollar gamestop credit isn't going to break their bank account, and it would help gamstops PR. Examples would be like Costco with their return policy. Everyone praises them and goes straight to them to buy their Xbox360 because they know if it breaks Costco will take care of them. It's just good business to take care of your customers, I guess some of their managers realize this and take care of people... I think gamestop is getting sloppy because their mother corp. is buying out all the competition.

But back to the subject, I'm glad Pirates plays great, add another quality game to the PSP line up. (I wish they could find a way to port other Sid Meirer's games to other platforms. I still can't find my copy of Alpha Centauri for PC and I would love to play that game again. I don't know if they could get it to work right on the PSP though...maybe I should check amazon for another copy...)

According to the website, this will be the LAST day of the $19.99 deal and it should go back up to $29.99 so grab it soon if you've been wanting it at the lower price.

Strange, I was kind of regretting my purchase at EB as I saw it at Gamecrazy for $19.99 tonight (1/31). I was thinking maybe it had a universal drop (or post release adjustment to generate more sales). It could have been mistagged at GC or they might have done it to match EB/GS though. I dunno. If it goes up to $29.99 everywhere I will definitely feel better about getting it though (otherwise I'm sure it would be even cheaper soon enough).

Just curious, though, where on the web site do you see it saying anything about this deal? I simply see it available for $19.99 with no comments about anything changing.

We are a bit confused now because in the ad, it says one week only but on the site it says:

"Price drop - Old price:$29.99 | Save $10.00"

So... I guess we'll see what happens after today but it wouldn't be the first time the company has made mistakes like this.

I wonder, if you take the coupon in, will it kick off another $10 off if the actual price is $19.99? So instead it'll be $9.99. *Actually there isn't any code or anything so... Something is fishy.

Ah, I see, in the weekly ad. There doesn't appear to be a coupon for that though - it just says "One Week Only! $19.99 Regularly $29.99" with no coupon code on that section. So probably highly unlikely you can get it for $9.99, though kudos to you if you do!

Damn it too hell should have bought it when it was 20 now its back to 30 figures that i get paid this week....me = pissed/idiot

I seem to get an odd kind of bug where any specialists (Cooks, Quartermasters, etc) carry over to new games...

Anyone else noticed this?

EB has it used for $17.99 though. So while the new price went back up the used price didnt. Picked it up Friday for that price. Haven't tried it out yet, but hoping its good.

Got it in the mail and I'm not disappointed. It's actually really fun. It's very simple but addictive. I recommend it to anyone.

I concur. I think what makes it such a great game is the pacing. You are always doing something different; sailing, dueling, talking, dancing, managing. And it all goes by so quickly. It's a very exciting game. It's almost like a Grand Theft Carribean.
