SingStar PS3 - General Discussion & Info - SingStar Dance now available ...

Since the fallout of the cdwow $26.99 wireless mics, I've been yearning for them.

Any recommendations on the cheapest place to pick up a pair? I'm about to have a party soon and my blue wired mic is acting up.

Well, they are all going to be fairly close in price, since most online retailers sell them for 30 pounds + shipping. Not sure about who is best on shipping, but I've heard good things about HMV and Game UK.

From a quick glance, HMV overseas shipping costs 4.50; Game UK is 4.95.

With the pound appreciating against the dollar and possible credit card fees, expect to spend around $55 on them.

Since all of my sears around here suck, I bit on Singstar Amped at Walmart. It rang up $15, which was $5 more than I wanted to pay, but oh well. I think I'm down to 3 discs I need now.
Another above average update, though the US probably won't get Depeche Mode, since the 3 existing songs in the store haven't made it over. And obviously no Queen till August.
Will we ever get Depeche Mode over here?
Will we ever get Depeche Mode over here?
Hopefully, but the US Singstore only gains 2-4 previous UK store songs each update. Also, Enjoy the Silence made the UK Singstar Legends disc but isn't on the US version.

Apparently an Amex blue card allows purchases from the Belgian store, but you should check the Singstar US forum for more info about that.

I actually looked into prepaid debit cards over here in the UK, but the activation fees were too high. It isn't really worth it for 5-10 songs.

Outside of Queen, Morrissey, and Depeche Mode, I don't think there are too many glaring differences in the catalogs. I guess Y.M.C.A. and Kung Fu Fighting?

I'm pretty sure all the PAL singstars are fine. I'll confirm that in a few days when I finally return back to the states.

If you decide to hold off, you can actually import the game for the same price if not cheaper than the $30 + shipping advertised on the video game deals section today.

o'rly? link?

If anything, I should just buy songs in the Singstore. It's probably a lot cheaper.

Since uploading my video for 'All the Small Things' by Blink-182 on Friday, it has gotten over 250 views, over 100 ratings averaging over 4 stars and I'm in the Hall of Fame for Friday as well! Yay!! :D

You didn't try to recreate the real music video in order to get all those ratings did you? :puke:

And for those asking, PS3 games are region free unless the developer locks it themselves (of which there are very few who have). So PAL SingStar games work fine anywhere in the world.

Well the two cheapest import sites are usually Dvd.co.uk and cdwow.us. You may also be able to import from Amazon uk, who subtracts VAT (which basically offsets shipping). I know someone who got the BBC version of Planet Earth this way.

Even if you imported from Game uk or HMV, it would run you about 22-23 pounds shipped to import. That is about equal to $33-$35.

Haha, no no... of course not. >_>
I used black lighting for my video... o__o

So, I'm new to Singstar and I'm REALLY interested in "Copacabana", but I don't want to buy Singstar 3 when it comes to the states, will they have the Singstar 3 songs available as DLC for 1 & 2 as well?
Hmmmm...

I find the rapping elements of Singstar to be probably some of the worst out there. The problem is that you'll be saying the right words and sound exactly like the artist, but fail to score even a "good". IMO those songs on Singstar are almost unplayable.

I see this new game being nothing more than that old "On Da Mic" game that was released for PS2, with a new coat of paint.

So PAL SingStar games work fine anywhere in the world.
I've heard of region coding namely there was a game where if you put it in an NTSC console it would show blood and the same disc in the JAP versions wouldn't. but have any games actually be region locked?
I expect massive failure. Why? Edited lyrics. Who wants to play Wal Mart music?
word. there's no way you can make a rap singstar without cursing. the clean songs noone will want. I have that problem already with Back to Black on SSV1. I'm still not sure if I'm supposed to sing in the **** or pause.. or what. If I do sing what word do they expect me to sing in there without text.

This goes even further with songs that have curse words in them that are muted. If you look at the notes you're supposed to sing, the word is definitely there, however the lyric is replaced by stars. Take a look at Fall Out Boy's "This Ain't A Scene" and Panic at the Disco's one track. If you don't sing those words there, you won't get a "cool" ranking, despite the words not being there.

This ain't a scene it's a log jam arms race... LOL

Here is this week's US update...it looks like the trend of better updates may be over for now.

Talk about anything you like, as long as it's not video game related.
Has Yes been included in a Singstar game?

Is the price still sixty dollars?

Seems fun!
Owner of a Lonely Heart is on Singstar Amped....which can easily be found on a local TRU clearance pile.

TRU also has all Singstar bundles for $10, and there is a further 20% off this week.

No need to spend $60 on this title...

This also hasn't been mentioned, but on the ESRB site there is a listing for a Singstar Sampler Pack, which contains 5 songs from Singstar Vol 3 and Pop. No info about a release date is available, but if I remember correctly the artists are Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, Rockwell + MJ, Fergie, and the Smashing Pumpkins.

There are also two more PAL releases this year, Singstar Motown and Singstar Take That.

I assume we'll get the first one, maybe later this year?

Sorry, I was referring to the PS3 bundles, which still retail for $60 in Target and Best Buy.

All PS2 Singstars are indeed $30 MSRP.

PS3 Stand-alones are $40 MSRP. The Singstar Queen for $60 on Amazon is a mistake or a bundle, since Gamestop now has it up for $40.

curses being back in this thread reminds me that I need to get PopV2 and I'm stuck in Canada. :sigh: it's not on clearance up here.

Apparently there is an update for both Singstar and V2 to add Polish language support. I can't access the singstore after this update however.

Anyone else able to?

Here is this week's update. Pretty good, but no Viva La Vida on the Coldplay pack...

Thanks again to the US Singstar forums.
Damn, come on Sony. Half these songs are on other discs.

Edit: will Euro Singstar discs work on my ps3?
EU PS3 discs will work fine.

Wish they would've had those Coldplay packs when I was buying songs a couple weeks ago. I guess I'll with with the second pack because I don't think I have any of those songs.

Anyone know where I can pickup Singstar Rocks! for cheap? It's the last singstar PS2 disc that I need. I would buy all the songs I want from the store, but I literally want the entire disc, save for 1-2 songs.

Will the US release of Singstar Queen have wireless mics?

Well, the release of Singstar Queen is a month away and bundle version is only $20 more, so I wouldn't expect wireless mics.
