Skylanders - Toys brought to life, Cross-platform Connectivity *Giants Out Now*
What is my best bet to get one of these, they don't seem to be retailer exclusive so I know eBay sales will tank super fast so I am not interested in picking up more than one for myself.
I sold mine within 5 minutes of listing it for a B.I.N. of $29.99 with $5.00 S&H. I watched a few auctions that ended right before mine and I thought $29.99 was a good B.I.N. price. There was one that ended for $36.00 and a couple that were in the mid $20 range right around the same time.
Found a Scarlet Ninjini at one of my local Gamestops today kind of jive that they are charging $15.99 for it. I ended up picking up two one for my son and maybe one to e-bay to help offset the cost. I also picked up a series two Hex to get over $40.00 and got two more of the minis since my son already has a complete set I might throw those on e-bay also.
Didn't the mini sidekicks promo end earlier this year or something like that? Or is this some new promo at GS.

They brought them back, same four guys but this time you get one with only a $19.98 purchase. Last time they ran the promo you didn't get one till you spent over $29.99 on them.

I was just in the Walmart next to work and noticed they completely re-did the Skylanders section. It's now much bigger and they had a huge section of pegs with signs for SKYL 6PK CHRCTR AST $7.96. I'm not sure what these are going to be for. I also saw a store memo that was posted about expanding certain "franchise" areas, including Skylanders, so this looks like it's a chain wide thing. I also noticed that they finally put a price tag sticker on the shelf for the Adventure packs so maybe they will keep coming (though maybe that's just been my local WMs being lazy and not putting them up earlier). Any ideas what the $7.96 pegs are for? I did notice that they had a couple of old SSA figures that haven't been there before. I thought maybe someone returned them, but one of them still had a plastic sleeve on it, as if it just came out of the case. Could they be getting SSA figures back in? I included a pic of the peg sticker.

Just found on another forum that Walmart is indeed getting SSA figures and that's what this section is for. Seems to be the same stuff, except people have been able to find Wham Shells (also VooDoods, but I see him at TRU all the time). Since it seems SSA stuff is coming back, what do you think of the chance of other rare stuff reappearing?

I doubt we will see any Boomer's I read on aother forum that his "mold" take off-line. Whatever the ell that means.

I see 3 of the 4 Adventure packs all the time at my local Wal-Mart ad Sam's Club. Ad they seem to always get re-stocked whenever they sell out. The only one I dont ever see is the Darklight Crypt one but other people have found some of those in other areas at Targets recently.
Hmm. I wonder if I should sell my darklight crypt now or wait a little while longer.
Sealed ones that I have been looking at on E-Bay have been going for the $110 to $125 range if not more.

I know. I wouldn't want to be holding it if there is a restock, but the value has almost doubled in the last month.

I bought it to play, but haven't gotten to it yet. Why is it so valuable?

Its the only way to get "Ghost Roaster" and unlike the "Dragons Peak" set which is the only way to get "Sunburn" this set does not seem to have any reprints.

I can leave my house and be back in an hour with at least 2-3 each of the other three sets.

Okay, so I was really into Skylanders for a while, but my interest died off with the release of Giants. Now I'm looking into getting Giants and I only really have one question: Do I need a Giant of every type to do everything in the game? Like, are there Giant gates for each element?

To open up every part of the game, you need one Skylander of each element and, at least, one giant. You don't need all 8 giants to open everything. To be honest, when my son and I play, we hardly use a giant. Just when there are places where giants are needed. Since we've pretty much opened up all those places, we don't use them much at all. The giants were my son's favorite characters, and he was excited about finally getting all of them for his birthday, but they're just so slow they're not fun to play with. That, of course, is my opinion, but just saying that if you don't care about collecting them, then just having the included Tree Rex should be enough. And if you're looking at getting Giants, I think the $35 price at TRU next week is a good time to get in on it.

Thanks! I already have one of every element, so I'm good to go there! Yeah, the $35 price from TRU next week is really great, but unless the deal's online I probably won't be able to partake.

Check Targets in your area. Mine is clearancing Spyro's Adventure starter sets and Giants portal owners packs. I picked up the SSA starter for $20.98.

Any chance someone has Giants for xbox that would want to trade it for PS3? I kind of regret getting it on PS3.

Do you not have a TRU near you? I also forgot about the $10 coupons from McDonalds (I think I thew all mine away since I already had the game). It would make it $25. The promo is over, but you may be able to call around to see if they might still have some in the back. I was looking for Kaos afterwards so a friend of mine asked at one of the McDonalds and they just gave him a few of the Skylanders toys (too bad none of them were Kaos). So it might be possible to get one. Even if they charge you for the toy, it's still worth it for the coupon.

My Target had 5 Scarlet Ninjinis this morning, all out back, but a very helpful employee brought them out. I picked up one, and two other Skylanders for my niece and nephew to take advantage of the B2G1 sale. They also had the first game for 360 on clearance for $35.

Nope! Don't have a TRU anywhere near me. I was able to get a printout of the coupon and use it on a portal pack in-store, though.
Anyone have the dpci for the Scarlet Ninjini? Guy couldn't find them and wasn't up for looking.
My receipt has 207001148. Is that the right number?

My son has some birthday money, so I might take him to TRU, today, to see if there's anything he wants. He wants Scarlet Ninjini, but I'm not worried about him getting it since he already has regular Ninjini and I'd rather him get some different characters. We didn't have time, yesterday, to go. I'm wondering if we should wait, though. Lately, there seems to be some added deals at the end of the week that stack (i.e. gift cards or the $14.99 3-packs a couple of weeks ago). I'm also hearing that Wham Shells have been popping up at Wal-Mart, and their new SSA display has me curious what might eventually appear. Has anyone had luck with price matching at TRU for the first item and still get the 60% off the 2nd? Though I'm not sure of their pm policies, as the deals I want to pm are on Best Buy's website and not in an ad.

This seems to be the dedicated Skylanders thread so I'm posting my questions here.

I've been avoiding these but got the original game from Target clearance for $30 and Giants from TRU with coupon for $25. Great bday gifts for my son. If he wants to buy more, they will probably be used ones cause most stores around here have the same figs and I won't let him blow all his savings.

Do all sealed figures come with cards and also codes?
Does the card have any purpose?
What does the code do? Something online? Is it worthwhile?
Do you need one of each "element" to do everything in both games?
Another adult told me that if you have all the Giants that it unlocks something, maybe a level ?(I'm doubting this info)
I would expect better sales on figs towards the x-mas season, is this correct? I remember someone clearancing series 1 when Giants was out.
Are there any dedicated skylanders websites/forums that have real value/help, not just wish lists and surveys?

Thanks for the help.

All figures come with the card, a bar code, and a sticker (for use on the "did you buy all of them?" map in the starter set). The cards are used to upload your characters to the iOS games and the internet sites. They are both pretty pointless.

You do need one of each element to do EVERYTHING in the games, but the game only requires the starter set. You can get all of the trophies/achievements with the starter kit.

No point in having all of the giants (from my knowledge). You do get an XP bonus if you meet certain in game watermarks (based on figure registration).

The sales are pretty regular, and there doesn't seem to be a real reason to wait for Xmas. The new game will be out, and things will get chaotic again.

The codes are now primarily used for the iOS games. Honestly, I have put way more time into Battlegrounds and Lost Islands than I have the console games. I would be very sad if the codes were absent as you wouldn't be able to use them on those games without buying the iOS portal.

I thought you could also get the web codes by putting the character on the console portal and hitting select and it would be on his stats page.

As far as I can tell, that's incorrect. I have several figures where we've lost the webcodes. I have none for the ones that came with the Giants Starter Set. I'm not sure if we lost them or if they got thrown away with the box. I haven't been able to find the webcode option in Giants. Maybe I'm missing it, though. I saw it in SSA, but I have heard that the webcode it gives you in game is useless and isn't the same as there aren't enough characters in the code. Can someone correct me on this? I haven't tried. And if it's only in the SSA game, then that doesn't do me any good for characters only in Giants (especially my Tree Rex that I don't have a card for). There used to be a way to do it in the online game by hooking your portal to the PC, downloading the drivers, then importing them into the game. I couldn't ever get that to work. I created an account just to do that, and the game would never recognize my portal. Windows would see it and say the drivers were installed, but the game would keep saying it wasn't installed. It kept trying to reinstall the drivers and restarting my computer. I eventually gave up. I meant to go back to it when I had the time and see if I could find support, but they took it down before I could do it. As far as I know, there's currently no way of getting the codes unless you have the cards.

I assume each code is individually unique? Otherwise someone would have put lists of character codes online for everyone to use. So if we buy used figs with codes, we still can't assume that the code hasn't already been used by the previous owner.

If you have the fig codes, you do not need a portal to play iOS games?
The iOS games have no impact on the figs or stats for the PS3 game right? (maybe through a Activision account or something)

Can anyone recommend good Skylanders websites? I'm surprised by the lack of important info on the sites I've found.

Thanks to all that answered my previous questions.
Was able to PM the TRU deal at Walmart so I got the exclusive 3DS Starter park with the Glow in the Dark Cynder.
I'm jealous. Every Wal-Mart I went to said that they'll only price match with a physical ad. Unfortunately, for the last couple of years, every Toys R Us in the area stopped making printed ads. I'd have loved to get two exclusive characters and a copy of the game for that price.

On a side note, I think it's funny that I've seen more Scarlet Ninjinies than I have Regular Ninjini and Jade Flashwing combined.

Yes. Each code is unique. However, you are able to use the same code on multiple devices and games. It has been up for debate as to how many, though. I'm pretty sure at least once per game (for now, there are only 3 games for the iOS that use them). So you can use the same code for each game. I know you can use the same code on, at least, 2 devices. My wife and I play Lost Islands and have used the same codes on both of our phones. Some have tested and seemed to get more than that, but not sure of the limit. So if you buy a used figure with the web code, you can probably use the code even if they've used it before.

As for other sites, I've only found one (darkspyro.net). It has info on every Spyro and Skylander game, including a list of all the existing figures and packs. The forums are fairly helpful, too, but I believe there are a lot of kids on there posting, but sometimes they can know more than anyone. :)

Now that Activision has added the cloud saving feature they also have added authentication to the codes as well. You can still use the same code across three different games but you can only use it on one account each. They won't deactivate codes that have been used on multiple devices, but it is now one and done. However you can still use the portal to add the character and that seems to be separate from the web code. This is why I was always under the impression there was no web code associated with each physical figure.

My wife and I have been able to use the same codes on each of our devices, just in the last couple of weeks after my son got a bunch of Skylanders for his birthday.

I finally found a Jade Flashwing on amazon new for 12.99, got it. But I have yet to see a scarlett or a regular ninjini anywhere.

So I guess I was wrong. I tried adding some to my phone that my wife had, but they wouldn't work. Not sure if it just changed. My wife may have just recently signed up for Activate. I logged her off and was able to reuse codes I had used on mine. She lost all her progress since joining activate. So if you don't care to do the social stuff or backing your progress in the cloud, you can use codes multiple times.

Any of you guys have any idea what this 360 lot of Skylanders would be worth on the eBay market, as a seller, not a buyer?

Giants starter pack, new without the package:

1)Giants game still sealed

2)Portal

3)Glow in the Dark Cynder

4)Jet-Vac

5)Tree Rex

The rest of these all are Series 1, once again, new without the package

Whirlwind

Sonic Boom

Hex

Dino Rang

Double Trouble

Stealth Elf

Drobot

Stump Smash

Bash

Everything has the codes, stickers, etc., whatever they came with new.

Honestly, you may get $50 if you are lucky. The Dino Rang is the sorta rare figure. If you sold that one on its own and then the bundle you would likely make out better.

I would be willing to take a few of those series one guys off of you interested in any trades? I have some blu-rays some older 360 games and some other crap around.

Whirlwind
Hex
Double Trouble
Stealth Elf
Drobot
Bash

Hurray!!!

Another 56 characters coming, and who knows how many variants. Even with sales, I'm thinking another $500 on this version. I have never spent so much on a franchise. I thought it was bad when I spent over $300 on Street Fighter with fight sticks, updates, DLC and such. I will easily be over $1000 spent early on into the Swap Force chase.

Molten Hot Dog may be back! I was at a Walmart, last night, and they had several of them in stock. I was actually surprised. I was looking at something else and my son said, "Look, it's Molten Hot Dog." I though he was confused at first, but then I walked over to the Skylanders section and there they were. Even though I already had one, the idea that I just found a bunch after being so hard to find made me want to buy more, for some reason. Sad that the Skylander hunt has made it an instinct to purchase hard to find ones (I already had to turn down the instinct to buy a Scarlet Ninjini, even though I only have the regular version, and another Ninjini that I found later).

And speaking of finding hard to find Skylanders, another place you might check for Skylanders is Kohls. My parents had gotten their hands on a bunch of $10 off any $10 or more purchase coupons, so my wife and I went to see what clothes we can find on clearance. I walked back to the toy section (which is usually small and tucked away in the kids clothes) and found Hex (which has recently been hard to find) and Bash. I also picked up the Ignitor, Chill, and Zook 3-pack. My son was needing Zook, and I hadn't seen it around. Their regular prices are a little higher ($12.99 for the singles and $32.99 for the 3-pack), but they tend to run sales. The singles were $10.39 after a 20% off sale. If you have a Kohls card, you might get an even bigger discount. With my $10 coupons, I ended up, after tax, paying 41 cents for each of the Hex and Bash, and then I applied a 30% off coupon for using a Kohls credit card plus the $10 coupon to get the 3-pack for around $12. Of course, I was lucky to get those $10 coupons, but it still might be a place to find some of the harder to find figures, and if they're on sale, there not much more than regular prices elsewhere.

OOO I'll have to check there. Mine didn't sell them when I first started collecting around X-Mas.

So now I have a total of 6 Trigger Happys. I had the original that came with the game then bought 2 Legendary ones when they were on sale at toys r us for 4.99 and I needed to buy one more to get a 5 dollar gift card back so I got another one of those. I think I am just going to let guest who come over use those if they want to play with me.
I've been debating on picking up a Legendary Trigger Happy from toysrus.com. My son already had a S2 Trigger Happy, then got a S1 when he got Spyro's Adventure. After finding out I can order from toysrus.com in the store and get free shipping, I've thought about waiting for a deal (like this week's buy 1 get 1 for 99 cents) and picking it up, as the in-store stock is usually pretty lame, and the website doesn't usually have single characters outside the legendary figures (I guess since those are the only ones that come in their own case) or figures that are warming the pegs at the store. But does he really need another Trigger Happy?

With that said, the B1G1 for 99 cents promotion is pretty good, but there isn't another figure I really want in the SSA line (which is what the sale is for). I had hoped there was a way to mix buying a Giants figure and getting the SSA figure for 99 cents, but it doesn't work. I wonder how much I could get for a Legendary Trigger Happy. I could buy 2 for $11, then sell one. If I just come out even, it might be worth it. It looks like they're going for around $10-$15 on eBay w/ free shipping, but by the time I pay the shipping charges, it might not be worth dealing with.

Also thought about doing the same with Legendary Stealth Elf. My son already has a S1 Stealth Elf, but the head broke off. It still works, but I've thought about getting him another Stealth Elf. Why not Legendary?

Anybody planning on going to GameStop's Skylander Festival on Saturday?

http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/events/UltimateSkylandersFestival/

My brother just showed it to me in the hopes that I can take him. $10 for battle packs is pretty enticing.
Those battle packs have my interest. My son needs Chop Chop & Zap, so these would be a great time to get them, since they are the only way (that I know of) to get them without paying secondary market prices on S1 versions. I was hoping I could price match at Best Buy, since I have RZ certificates. There isn't an ad, but they may take it off their website. But if Gamestop is offering free sidekicks with any Skylanders toy purchase, I would assume that would include the battle packs. I might have to break down and get them there. If they don't have the sidekicks, I will probably try to price match at Best Buy. There are several Gamestops in my area, so I have to decide if it's worth it to drive around, if I have to, if the one near my house doesn't have what I want (I'm already pretty sure they don't have the golden cannon exclusive, or didn't when I last looked).

I'll be there to get the Polar Whirlwind. The fact they are advertising those, Scarlet Ninjinis, $10 battle packs, and $40 starter packs has me a bit worried I may need to get there kind of early. I refuse to wait any more than about 30 min for this so if there are a string of people outside I'm out.

I had no interest in getting regular Shroomboom back when the game first came out and found lots of people piecing out the pack on eBay and were selling Chop Chop for $5-$7. At $10 for the whole pack you may as well get that, but getting series 2 Chop Chop and series 2 Zap is pretty cheap through eBay. You are correct that they are the only two figures besides Tree Rex that did not get a single character release. Interestingly they released Shroomboom and Hot Dog in battle packs, single packs, and even other triple packs.
