I want a lot of DS games for my collection, and a bunch of GBA and GameCube games; hopefully I can find them. If I find something else for other systems I'll probably get it for CAG trading or half.com.
 
I found this site through an IGN post, and I can't wait to make a killing on this. Probably going to ebay a handful since I don't have class until late Monday so I can hit up 4 stores within half an hour of me.


On a more serious note, yes I found this site through IGN, and I can see how many of you are pissed off that people are going to be taking advantage of this and selling a lot of games. I went to the four best buys near me, and every single one of them had clear shelves. I really don't think this is a huge coincidence that a few days before the clearance is coming everything is disappearing. Obviously something is happening, they have to be remarking them or getting them ready to put them in bins.

Not to mention some people have stated that employees have told them they were pulling games. The people I talked to said they weren't. They wouldn't lie about NOT pulling them, they would lie about pulling them. Something is going on, and I really think we're going to see bins and long lines. I also find it very weird that there are none of these games to be found on the best buy website, while many other games are listed.

I sold my gamecube a while ago, and I'm looking to get 12 games to add to my collection. I'll be happy with any one of them (Chibi Robo and Fire Emblem PLEASE). Just wanted to say good luck to everyone on their hunt, and that I'm very happy to have found a site like this.
 
1) Is this going on in Canadian Best Buys aswell? I assume so, but I just wanna make sure.

2) What about Future Shops? Future Shop is owned by Best Buy, so it seems logical...
 
I can't wait to hear everyone complaining on Monday how much of a bust this was. Honestly guys, if you have ever shopped your local best buy in the last 6 months, you will know that NONE OF THE BEST BUY'S HAVE THESE TITLES or they have maybe 1 or 2 of them. The reason why NONE of them are on the website is because they do not carry it anymore. .COM is the warehouse, if the warehouse has 0 then it is not on .COM. The only titles that you will find will be in store in extremely limited quantities if they have any of the title that you are looking for at all. I hate to burst everyone's bubble but unless your best buy basically NEVER sells Videogames, at least 99% of this stuff will not be there.

Yes - many of these titles are long gone - but to say that you'll only find "1 or 2 of them"?

I found more than 40 different titles from the list, over all of the different systems, and there are many of these that were available in multiple numbers.

From taking a quick glance at the list compared to knowing what I physically have in stock at the store. My store has quite a bit of closeout videogames compared to EVERYONE ELSE in the district and company due to us being a 20k store. We don't have the traffic that the larger stores do. With that being said, we have maybe 50 titles on that entire list. Out of those 50, maybe 10 titles have more than 1 copy, if more than one, most but not all have 2 copies max. The sale truthfully will be a bust for 99.9% of people. The .01% will have success stories of finding the needle in the haystack that no employees grabbed before the sale started.
 
I just had a friend check about 15 of the games I wanted, and only 1 of them was in stock in the discrict. I think most of these games are long gone.

Generally speaking you may find 50+ titles total but in most cases, you will only find 1-2 each of those titles. Quite a few of the titles that I searched for that I wanted, no one in the district had them or the entire district had 1 copy.

I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying, just the guy who said that no one would find anything.

One of the BB's in my area started selling most of these titles for 25% off about 3 weeks ago. Smart on their part, except since you can price match for 30 days, I'll be taking advantage of that on Monday. ;)

As long as the price drop is for real, I'll be thrilled.

Otherwise, I'll be getting just over a grand back on Monday. Either way works for me at the end of the day...

Or you could be a wise guy and hide the games somewhere else in the store. My personal favorite is inside the demo washing machines. I have yet to have that fail.(Sadly enough)

I just had bad flashbacks from the last clearance BB had. I went, list of games, the ones I wanted highlighted, expecting to recieve a huge bounty. What I got? Jack.

The nearest BB was about 45 minutes away and it was a hot 100 degree day. The lady I asked for help was much more intrested in flirting with another employee and pretty much ignored me.

The only thing good I remember about making the trip was getting some old Mickey Mouse game from my youth at an EBGames.

Edit: Luckly they build a new Best Buy which is only about 20 minutes away. Still, though I will be going in hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
 
I don't mind picking up some of what I find if I find anything at all to ship out to others as well. The least I can do since us CAG's are getting screwed over with this deal being posted all over the net.
 
tuesday will be the day we'll find these titles marked down? can I just go buy everything tomorrow I want then take it back and get all my cash back when it's on clearance so I've got fo' sho' copies?

i went today and bought 5 games i didnt want in hopes of getting the discount later in the week and trying to sell them somewhere else. you guys are getting all bummed out cuz you cant find your games on the list...you are missing the point here...this is a clearance..and its not an ad scan we are looking at, its a price list. If you call the best buy you can find out if they have the game or not. my place had nothing i wanted...but who knows, maybe some of you will get lucky.

btw: any recomendations on where to sell them? I have a feeling gamespot/eb games will not buy them as new, and just take them as used (since they didnt get them fresh themselves)...but there is a music store that buys/sells games i was thinking of hitting up.

Back when I was really active on this board, this would have been looked at as extreme hoarding, something we condemn FW and SD for w/every "awesome find" we get on here. I guess people have have gotten more tolerable of this act, lately...
 
Didn't find anything I was looking for when scouting today. I'm really not that sure about them pulling all this stuff though. Most of these titles I have not seen on the shelf in months. Good luck to everyone though

I used to frown on it heavily too but, since the last few deals I've been to around here, where FEW people are in on any of these deals unless it's a major system release or something of the ilk, I've seen FW and SD people raid the store as if it was on fire or there was a riot going on outside.

So while I don't like that some people are buying mountains of titles in hopes of price-matching them, I can sort of forgive it since a good number of us here are gamers and these games will hit some loving homes.

But I'm an optimist at heart. I'm also a sucker.

Orrimarko will end up offering them to CAGs first. Plenty of past behavior on his part of doing that, so I'm not worried about him picking up multiple copies of the games.
 
Ok I really don't want to search through 26 pages here.. but I have a question. If I pick up a few games tomorrow (Sunday)..and I bring in my receipt on Monday...will they honor and price correct them..?

During the TRU sale, I bought some highly sought after titles just to sell for cost to fellow CAGs.

For the games that I bought multiples of, I can assure you that one is for me, and the others to trade for games that I can't find.

I only trade with folks from this site, so I think of it as helping each other out.

I don't feel that this is what you would call "hoarding".

How do you guys price match if there aren't any games left and it's not advertised? You just go up and say I have a feeling that the price dropped since I bought it yesterday?

There are quite a number of games on the list that I'd easily pick up three copies if not more of (one for me, one for each brother, one for the foster kids next door).

Not that I won't also pick up for CAGs. I've got my list of what folks are looking for, and if it's there, I'll pick it up.


But now, time for sleepies. Gotta teach Sunday School tomorrow and then off to scope out other Best Buys.

Second off, you should know something about the social mentality here.

We do not buy games for profit.

WE DO NOT BUY GAMES FOR PROFIT.

Buying things to sell someplace else is almost universally looked down upon. (The few times that it isn't is in case a game is easily found for the clerance price or absolute crap. I'm sure people abused the Red Ninja clearance last year, but that was accepted as it fitted both criteria.)

We are here for one reason. We are, as a whole, addicted to videogames. We want to play everything under the sun and more. We just want to play more videogames for our dollar.

This is why people regularly buy a shitton of clearanced games and then offer them up to people here for price+shipping+gas. It's not a money making system. It's simply because we know if we do it, others will do it for us.

In short:

Don't be a douche and buy games you dont want to make money.

Good lord, how did I miss this thread?? The title is so unassuming ("small drops I've noticed") that I guess I skipped right over it until I was finally bored enough to check it out :lol:.

Edit - my highlighter pen nearly ran dry marking up the games from the list that I want to get. Too bad I won't find any of them :cry:. I'm not even looking for (just) the hot stuff. Yeah, Oblivion CE would be awesome, but I'm looking for the licensed stuff mostly - the Shreks and Chicken Littles, etc. I figure I have a better chance of finding those, anyway.

guys, if you are thinking of hiding some games (which i will be doing), you better watch out. if you do it suspicously enough (ex. you walk around the store with 30 games in ur hand), the cameras and people will follow you and you can get kicked out of the store.

First of all, thanks BK or whoever started this.

2nd is price match CONFIRMED? Is it 100% certain?

Looks like my deployment just got a heck of alot easier with a pile o' games to play....
