Being 30 minutes from the nearest Best Buy here in Toledo, and considering that the Internet knows all about this and I have classes tomorrow all day, it's pretty much not worth it to go and shop for these deals. They'll end up on eBay at the normal retail price anyways.

Well if you posted multiple times Mods or other members probably got tired of hearing about it. The OP, Shrike, myself and other members have spoken on behalf of this saying it is legit. If you doubt it then don't go on Monday. Sure the likely hood of most of us scoring these titles is slim, but some are fortunate.

Also in reference to the digg.com posting of this, is it me or did Pnut_G of IGN copy verbatim what xmrblondex posted here 3 hours earlier. I mean I know FW members and others steal from this site, but at least change your list up or something.
 
If you go right when the store opens up is there any chance of getting at least like 1 game? LOL I'm hoping I get something out of this.

Please, there's been plenty of commentary about how this sale won't start until tomorrow, there's a chance that PM's/PA's won't work because they're clearance prices, possibilites that there aren't much to pick from, and the like.

If you're new to CAG, and new to this thread, please take some time to look through it and see what you can find. Yes, there's some useless crap in here, and yes, there's duplication of commentary about it, so please, take the time and look through it.

A Best Buy today had nothing, not that it was torn apart, they just didn't even have these games on the shelf any more. This "sale" is all sizzle and no steak and people are getting crazy for nothing.
 
Well no matter what, thanks OP. I have a list and I'm planning on being there at 9:50 so I'm there for opening. I don't work 'til 3 so at the very least its something for me to do. My area is pretty small and I usually can score at least a few games (I always do good at TRU sales). Good luck CAG's!
 
I'm debating going to Best Buy when they open tomorrow, but most likely I won't bother. There's some stuff I wouldn't mind getting for 2 bucks, but nothing I can't live without (because if I couldn't live without it, I'd have bought it at full price already :) )

I agree, but it's kinda of a two sided sword here.

Sure, it sucks when all these sites are just using CAG to find out deals and tarnish our good name with things like hoarding and general asshattery. But removing them could also be seen as defeating the purpose of the site, which is to help people never pay full price for their games.

Overall, getting CAG off Digg would be the best option, since alot of us do our best to help each other with deal findings and skillful tips. Most of these outside sources just link to our deals (I know that FW and SD have beaten us to punch before on deals) and create a flood of problems for the board.
 
I would like to thank any and all people that helped get this list together. I highly doubt I'll get anything... I'm in the same general area as Walrus... and I have a job to be at at 7 AM tomorrow, removing me from being at any Best Buy until around 6-7 PM.

Despite that, and the rapid proliferation of the data to all other deal sites, I'm still thankful for the information being available.

CAG is different, yes... and the deals are less fruitful and farther between, but a great deal of that has to do with changes in the industies involved just as much as it has with the growth of CAG... Games aren't bought in as heavy volume, there are less game stores that don't use new game sales as an excuse to sell overpriced used games, and many of the store that are really good for consistant deals are closing stores, or cutting back on the volume and number of SKUs carried.

Just relax. Go to it.
Go to your stores, if you get a deal, Great.
If you don't, what's lost, just a little gas money? If that's that big a concern, you shouldn't be spending your money on videogames.

In an earlier post, the OP stated that the games at his store would be in a bin/on a table tomorrow morning. Would any other BB employees happen to know if they were instructed to do so/ the same thing occurred at their location? I'm really starting to theorize if an email had gone out to pull these things. My evidence would be that there are plenty of empty tags right now for non clearance games that aren't in stock at my local store, but almost all of the clearance titles that were in stock earlier this week have disappeared. I know it's a bit of a stretch, but I'm finding it hard to believe that so many CAG's not even being able to find any of these games and the tags missing to be hard to pass off as a coincidence.

yes it is possible that they did take them off the shelves in advance to put them on tables or bins somewhere in the store on monday. its pretty much up to the manager. thats why even if you went today or yesterday to see if they had anything, you should still go tomorrow. or if you dont want to waist your time, do what i did, and ask the manager if they are putting them on tables or in bins.

Based on this, and that BB is pretty bad (or good, depending on your point of view) at keeping cheapy titles in my area in their stores, and the crap weather tomorrow... I think I'll be giving this one a pass.

Yeah. Those 3 stores are very diligent when it comes to pulling penny guides off the shelf. On some rare occasions they missed a crappy guide and I got to pick up a Superman Returns guide 2 weeks ago. I'm pretty sure no one wanted Superman Returns since it was still there after 2 weeks of being pennied out.
 
I think I'm going to CAG hell now. I dug out my copy of PSP UGnG from when it dropped to $20 and GBA Mario Tennis I bought a couple weeks ago so I can have them PA'd. And I'm returning a few games from the TRU clearance because I can get them cheaper at this sale. :whistle2:#

I would be suprised if any bb's actually have 10% of the price drop list.
And of those 10% of the games that they might have. They more then likely wont have more then 2-3copies of each game with none coming in ever again.

But its very common for BB;s to finally price drop games but already out of stock/dont carry the titles anymore in stores. = pointless.

have you opened any of them? do you have teh receipt? why would you return to TRU for an unconfirmed chance of getting them at BB?

god i hope the do the bargain bin. i'm bringing a big fucking snow shovel in case they put them in bins. or maybe i'll just pick the bin up and put the whole thing in my cart.

yea i do too. i asked the manager and he said he was thinking about it. im going tomorrow to get some stuff price arranged anyway so im gonna have a quick glance knowing i wont find anything.

and i completely wasted my god damn time going to bb today for madden 07 for psp and buying it when i find out it was a fucking typo and it was really madden 07 hall of fame addition for ps2
 
I'm telling you guys, for your own sanity, don't put too much stock into this sale.

First, $2 is a crazy price, where even a stupid soccer mom will pick up the game just cause it's cheap (the lower the price, the more likely the game will end up in some idiot's hands).

Second, none of the stores carry 95% of this!!!

I'm pissed off that I wasted my entire Sunday driving around and looking for crap. I did find SOME of the titles, but nothing really worth getting IMO.

You've been warned... (lower expectations = less disappointment!;) )
 
Last I checked, Media employees weren't instructed to set up any type of displays for the clearance. Depending on how big the rush is, this might change.

This all depends on the store obviously. Some stores could choose to set up tables, but it will be at the manager/departments discretion.
 
Man, there is too much pessimission going on here. "Oh noes! Another site found out. Now those idiots are gonna hog it all up. I might as well not go. That will teach them." It's your loss if you're not even gonna try, and that's perfectlly fine with me. I'll be at Best Buy, and even if I can only find one or two of the 70+ games I want, I'll be perfectlly happy. I just don't understand how anyone can be unhappy when a hell of a lot of great games are only two bucks.
 
I'm anxious to see if the Platinum/Greatest/Player's Choice skus are the price drops, or just the originals. Because a large number of the games on the list are Platinum/Greatest/Player's Choice and of the games I've seen, just about everyone one of them is the reprint, not the original.
