I can see how the deal is pretty big, but holy shit...its everywhere! This deal is worst than BF deals...Could this deal hurt CAG too? Will more ebayers and hoarders lurk on CAG all the time now because of this deal originating from CAG...I sure hope not. It's hard enough to score good deals BM already...sigh.

Hell yes.

I don't know about everyone else, but part of my love for CAGing is the whole "maybe I'll hit it big or maybe I'll bust" risk involved. It's like gambling, only really nerdy/awesome.
 
Thanks ryoga79, but I've just reiterated what others have said or are thinking. As Shrike and others have stated there is no need to bash the deal, the OP or anything in this post. Members should take pride and feel lucky they have access to this kind of info. Sometimes members put their asses on the line to post similar info. I know my haul will most likely be small, but I appreciate the OP and everyone who has contributed. I know this deal is legit because BB had the exact sale almost a year ago. If you want to whine call your mom, if you want to get the hook up and pat someone on the back for hooking your asses up then welcome and thank you for being considerate to others.

Yeah, I understand this and charging would kinda go against the true meaning of this forum, but how much longer can we keep letting others abuse, coupons, deals, info, etc that had been brought from CAGs and only intended for CAGs. I am stick of SDers taking my coupon scans that I post for CAG only and then turning around claiming that there theirs. Sick of these other forums ruing our hard work. For example, kmart clearance thread. Many CAGs get together and contribute in order to make a successful thread while others fomr other fourms sit back and buy the gams before we even step out the door!

I am not talking about a huge price, just an amount that might turn away the baddies. Now sure, a paid member could leak the info to SD or w/e, but chances are they won't. I think we all should at least consider this!

Nah. Like I said before, some people who hit all of these sales and hoard tend to have only a good idea of what to grab. Either they will grab every single thing in the store that they find on their list or they will grab the top-tier/high-resale potential items and leave the rest. Personally, the few hoarders I tend to see frequently at these sales around here end up doing the former once, maybe twice, and then never doing it again. I guess they are left with too much garbage and overstock to do anything else. The latter tend to leave some quality things behind that we still go nuts over, or use as trading fodder for other people.

Does it still suck? Oh, but of course. The potential to have an amazing sale that nobody else knows about gets slimmer and slimmer. However, there's one thing that a healthy number of long-standing CAGers understand that most newcomers and forum deal-grabbers don't, which is how to shop.

That and I have a feeling that too many people are going to end up flooding eBay with titles from these lists tomorrow, like with other major sales. I like getting a hearty chuckle from that. ;)

Except there's no risk like in gambling ;)

Edit: We still know that the best deals come here first though, so I wouldn't feel so down about this. It's obvious that CAG is becoming a respected source of sales info first for game deals, so that's good enough that we're here reaping the goods first for the most part.
 
The only thing that could keep a huge clearance such as this from becoming a disaster for most of us would be if it wasn't posted until the night before/day of the sale. That would be the best way to keep the deal CAG-exclusive for a period of time and ensure that we could get what we want before the news spread to every corner of the internet. In the future, those who report similar deals might want to consider the timing of their posts.
 
Well the guy is new, cut him some slack. If he didn't report it, someone else might've reported it anyway on another site or whatever, so it's not a big deal IMO.

Yeah, that is the bright side of all this. Ebay will get flooded with all these games, and the scalpers will be undercutting each other to try and get rid of their titles quick. Remember when Fatal Frame III was $10 at TRU...a week later on ebay, there were copies selling for $18. No, it ain't as good at finding a TRU copy for yourself, but its still a better deal than retail.

Let me just put in my two cents on a topic that has been going back and forth over here. I understand that you all are upset that deals get posted on different forums and sometimes you dont get on the deals because it is too late. People post the information and its the ones that react the fastest that get on the deal. If those are resellers (not me), then so be it. Some people make a living to feed their family by doing so, so you have to respect them for it. If one is just doing for extra money, so be it to. "it is what it is". So dont complain because you didnt get on a deal because someone else got on it. Also the issue that people dont give you credit for a copy/paste thread. Yes it is messed up, but do you want a plaque, trophy, cookies, or a medal for posting some information on a website. Yes, we all appreciate the information, but once it reaches the information wave, you really have no control over what happens to it. Your information is not copyrighted so you cant stop from people using it. I feel that sometimes people are so caught up in the glory of finding a deal that you need all the praise you can get. Dont get me wrong, I know its messed up if someone takes your information and passes it as if its theirs, but just move on and be glad that your information might be helping someone. Another issue that I have been reading alot is about people here having issues with SDers and FWers. I do agree that some of these people dont care about anyone but themselves, but there is CAGers that do the same. Not everyone is going to play by the rules and think about their fellow friends, so no need to bash other people on other forums.

Thanks to everyone who has made this deal happen and I just want to stress that I am in no way bashing CAGers, but just making some valid points for some to think about.

if CAG was a paid service, this particular clearance sale news wouldn't have broken on CAG. The OP joined CAG specifically to post the sale news. If he would have had to pay to join, he would have just gone to FW or SD or one of the other deal sites first, then someone on there who was a paid member of CAG would have come here and posted it.

Either way, being on here and buying clearance games now is a lot different than it was even 3 years ago. With all the deal sites there are now, it is near impossible to keep anything exclusive to just one site and is foolish to think that it would be possible to do so. Years past Best Buy $3.00 clearance sales have even ended up on gamespot in their news section.

My 2 cents.

I agreed - this should have been kept until sunday afternoon/night.
I suppose 24 hrs + is plenty of time for this deal to spark into a raging fire of internet gossip.

The people who have been crying need to get over it. If you get something, great. If you don't, check the trade thread for what you wanted. I won't cry about this being spread on other boards because:

1. It was bound to happen.
2. I get plenty of deals from SD that are worth way more than the deals I've pulled off here. (don't get me wrong, I've gotten plenty of good deals here too.)

And yeah, it does suck when credit is not given to the original poster, but like the guy said.. do ya want a cookie?
 
The reason why you didnt get in this deal is more likely because the game was already out of stock before the list was posted. Maybe we can start blaming people that brought games at full price and cause you to miss out on the deal.

no, because there's no rule against returning everything as long as you didn't open them and rebuy them at the clearance price right there if the store won't price adjust.

since I dont' have a printer atm, I have a handwritten list of about 65 games I'm gonna go look for in 7 hours. if I pull away with 1 or 2, I'll be very happy in all honesty. I again thank the OP and wish everyone luck tommorow.

And to hell with the "Gonna buy a shitload of stuff and put it on ebay" people. Just my opinion....

Don't know if the policy is the same or not, but there is a difference between the two.

no idea. On the list, there's maybe 3 games I want, everything else I have already or don't want so I'm not even going to try. I have work tomorrow anyway. I will go price adjust my Ghosts n Goblins sometime this week that I bought 3 weeks ago before I knew anything about the sale though. I'm pretty sure they had a few of the games on the list last weekend when I was there, but they are likely long gone now.
 
You know you can just tell them you want to change payment method (cash to credit card) and they will do a buy and return for you.

Well, it has always worked in the past. Things could have changed, of course, but I was able to do this the last time they had something like this (about a year ago). It *always* works at CC, but it seems Best Buy is a little more restrictive. I'll find out tomorrow in any case ;). But this is probably one of those deals where if you don't get it done the first time, try it again at another store or with a different clerk and it will probably work. You've got 30 days to return the games anyway.

That's the next thing I would try if the worker denied me the pricematch. Just say you want to return it and rebuy it at the clearance price (maybe the worker doesn't know what a price adjustment is or how to do it).

Here'a a tip. If you bought more than a few hundred dollars worth of games don't try price adjusting them all at once to see the look on the BB employee's face.

A real upside of CAG not recieving credit on other websites is that the community stays a little bit hidden for just another day. Next time a smaller sale is put on, and isn't posted anywhere else but CAG, those from other websites will have no clue that this website even exists and therefore will not infringe on any said deals.

Let the the big one go and still be able to enjoy the numerous small ones I say.
 
So are the games going to be on the shelves like normally or will they be in carts in the middle of aisles? I'm trying to get an idea because I'm going to be shopping for alot of games for my little brother and 2 sisters and myself so I just was wondering so I don't waste like 5 mins. when I get there today looking in the wrong area.

Figuring that Best Buy opens a couple of hours before you get to work & the fact in only takes 'one cart' guy to wipe the store clean. Plus, the fact some employees may hoard some for themselves - the worst you may do is inform the poor, unlucky saps strolling in that your sold out of clearance goods 10 mins after opening.

True. Plus, to my knowledge, I don't think we have much of those games. I can also say that I've rarely seen any employee hoard anything.

If they say, "Sorry, tough shit, kiddo". I will simply say, "Okie doke, I would like to return these games, and rebuy them". If they say, "Sorry no can do", I will say, "My daddy said he doesn't want these charges on his card, so I have to use my own cash, which I have right here".
