I do have to say I understand the $2/$5 mentality, there were some games I probably should've picked up (I wasn't thinking when I saw Hulk at $9.99 and didn't buy) and some I probably shouldn't have, but your sense of reality gets pretty tweaked if you're getting a good run and have a stack of 10+ games that cost $2 in your hands. ;) Games that you would've chewed your arm off to get at $20 look like overpriced ripoffs at $10 (That's FIVE crappy $2 games!! ;) )

I went back to Westwood today but it looked pretty cleared out. I saw a few random games still around but nothing too great. I wish I would've been a bit more prepared yesterday (and had I realised how cheap I'd get out I would've bought more.. ;) )

Well, note that any $9.99 games are really just $4.99 if you remembered to bring the GamePro coupons with you ;) (you mentioned the $10 off $39.99 one, but what about the much more useful, IMO, $5 off ones with no minimum limit?). Print one and go back and get it. Actually, I was glad some of the games were $9.99 as that scared off some of the resellers I think, and I was able to get a few games for $4.99. While everyone and their mother knew about the sale, I think the GamePro coupons are still a CAG secret. Shhhhh....

Edit - OK, maybe there wasn't a $5 GamePro coupon for original Xbox games (??), but there's ones for every other system for sure. I used the PSP, DS, and 360 ones yesterday when I was running around to Best Buy.
 
Evanston BB. It was one of the BB hit HARD on Sunday. Practically ALL the clearance games were gone but strangely everyone left FFXI. The shelves were FULL of them.

I tried calling the Best Buy I had that problem with, and the manager said pretty much the same thing the other manager told me.....but nicer? Knew it wasn't the same person since this time I spoke with a girl manager.

But I was also able to get her name along with the rest of the managers at the Melrose Park Best Buy and I plan on writing a letter along with calling corporate after I get off work tomorrow. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone and will let you know how everything goes.

BTW I did have the list on my Blackberry, but my eyes couldn't make out a lot of the games so I was forced to bring a list with me just in case and like most of you, I always try to hide my list just in case. Guess I wasn't very sneaky this time.

I went to that Best Buy just after opening, about 10:20 am...glad I didn't whip out my list...
 
I don't think you'll get very far with corporate but it's worth a try. I had a problem with a manager refusing to honor a Best Buy coupon (it was not a scan or printed it was from a booklet they had in the store). They basically said the manager makes the rules of the store and their decision is final. This was a few years ago and I was stupid to let it go and should have wrote back.
 
Great Thanks to the OP. This was a great birthday present for me!!!

I came out we rather well yesterday. I got to my closest BB late as I overslept and found only a few people there and I thought that the clearance hadn't started. Then a kid came up making price changes and he yelled to a buddy that the godfather was only two bucks. I turned around to find a hillbilly hoarder had already grabbed the King Kong I had seen and had a cart with a bunch of stuff. I pulled out my list and started searching then. I saw the hoarder just following the employee repricing games so I actually struck up a conversation with the employee and he actually let me look through his price stickers. I could tell it really pissed off the hoarder. It was great. I also saw that the Xport had dropped to 30 and since my xbox is dying I want to move my save files to my 360 for my bc games.

I still feel that I had a great haul with several games I really wanted and only reached for a couple. I meant to post yesterday and say that the BB in Snellville, GA and the one in Duluth, GA were mostly cleaned out although the one in Buckhead in Atlanta had several Mercenaries, Mechwarrior 2s, Onimusha 2s and Champions of Norrath.

On a side note I went across the street and got a controller pack with Burnout for Xbox for $2 at Compusa and four original Xbox live 3 month starter kits for ten each at TRU. Great game buying day! I know I'm new to the site, but if anybody wanted to trade I could pick something up for them.
 
I'm reading around here and gotta laugh at the posts that say that employees of Best Buy asked where they got this sale list from. The thing that makes me laugh is that people try to explain or make up something to justify the list they have. In plain english tell them to fuck off! It's none of there business where you got the list from and they have no right to ask. Getting a list of sale items is not a crime and there should be no explanation as to where you got it from period. I really can't stand best buy and there crap. Circuit city always did this kind of sale better and I never had a problem getting most of what I was looking for. Best buy sucks and always will.

Man, I could find nothing on Monday. I pretty much thought this clearance was a bust. I went to a different BB today, and I found copies of Monster Hunter and Pursuit Force. :)
 
I'm a bit unlucky too...
spoted few PS2 game that should have been 1.99, but store still sells them for either 9.99 or 19.99....
Did saw WA4 for 4.99...but got so unhappy about the other pricing and end up walk out of the store empty handed....
 
San Andreas for ps2 is pretty YMMV

I went back to Santana row BB today to see if I could pick up San Andreas, but the employees there gave me crap about not being in their system (rightly so since it's the greatest hits version lol), and none of the employees I talked with knew about the sale. I handed them the SKU and everything too, and the department guy entered it and saw it for $1.99. However his senior at the register said nope, 19.99 in the system, 19.99 for you. Come on though BB, if there's a greatest hits version it's very highly possible that it's already phased out the original versions, so BB's just jerkin people around.

Anyway after gettin crap from the SR BB, I headed up to the Milpitas BB on the way home and the employees there were cool about it. One of them said "yea it's on sale, I'm fairly certain I saw it on the list." I gave myself a high five in my head and walked out the door with SA for $2.15 lol

so yea....good luck getting people to mark down your SA, even though it's the only version of the game they have, aside from the GTA trilogy pack.


Other than that I didn't find anything else from the list I wrote up
 
I'm sorry if this was already said somewhere, but I can't go through 94 pages... do the prices on the games in the store actually say $1.99 or whatever, or do you only find out at the register what's on sale?
 
I had a friend growing up who was born Feb 29th, and our teacher told her that was impossible. It was a little thing called a leap year.....

not that we're in one...but still....

No, she had regular birthdays during regular years on either Feb 28th or the 1st of March. I remember our 5th grade teacher yelling at her about there not being a Feb 29th and I had to point out that she was born in 1980, which is a leap year.

I went to Bestbuy on Monday at 2pm. Nothing. Kid that did the price drops said he didnt find one game to drop lol. My Bestbuy is in the 2nd biggest mail in NY state so...
 
Wow, I REALLY lucked out today. I didn't get a chance to go yesterday so I figured I wouldn't have much hope of finding anything, but my Bestbuy still had a decent selection of clearance games (well, as decent as you can expect for it being the second day of a clearance this widespread). I managed to snag the very last copy of several games I had really been hoping to get, most notably:

Megaman Maverick Hunter X ($10)
Daxter ($10)
Valkyrie Profile Lenneth ($10)

As well as a bunch of other somewhat-less-desired-but-still-wanted games, such as The Warriors ($5, Xbox), True Crime Streets of New York CE ($5, Xbox), Trapt ($10), and Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers ($5, PS2 but I wish I could've gotten it for the Xbox). On top of that...I was a true Cheap Ass Gamer and actually used the Gamepro $5 off coupons (only used it on one game for each system though, didn't really want to risk asking the person to scan every game individually or coming back repeatedly). All in all, I'm grateful for what I found, even if it was only a small portion of what I had wanted.

Although I also got some games I wasn't sure about and after reading reviews am not sure if I want to keep, particularly Romancing Saga. I thought it would be a nice entry for me into the Saga series and figured it would be good coming from SquareEnix, but after reading reviews it sounds a bit...not for me. I'll probably just return it and leave it for someone else, although maybe I should see if another CAG wants to exchange it for anything. They had several more copies of the game left anyway.

Apparently there are new ones that expire end of April (don't have my issue yet so can't confirm, but no reason to doubt this).

I was able to snag Splinter Cell: CT (ps2), Wild Arms 4, DBZ: B3, Drill Dozer (GBA) from the Deer Park & Arlington Heights stores in IL. I did see some other games on the list but nothing worth picking up (trapt, enthusia, american chopper).

The Cool Springs store was cleared out before I got there at lunchtime on Monday. They had one copy each of Siren and Bad Boys for PS2, and I took the Siren. I checked Hickory Hollow Monday evening after work, but found nothing.

I had much better luck at Mt. Juliet last night after work. No 360 or DS games, though. There were a few copies of Mario Power Tennis for GBA, and two copies of Soul Calibur II for Cube. I got one copy of Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins for PSP, and left the other. I got the last 2006 Fifa World Cup for PSP. There were several of each of the following games, a few of which I took one of, some of which I didn't take any:

Alpine = a couple of PSP games Dead to Rights, like 4-5 copies of some baseball game and some cop game that you jump from the top of your cars.(can't remember it's name)

I left them. Didn't see anything else. Although I did manage to pick up the last copy of X3 for the PC for $6 as they had that on clearance as well.(if you like Elite it is worth checking out.)
