Smash Bros. Brawl Controller preference poll

couldnt say considering ive only been playing it about an hour. i know how the cube controller feels from melee, im using the classic right now.
I like the Classic Controller. Just barely more than the Wavebird.
Guess I'll give the CC a try then. I've been using a Wavebird.

I didn't buy a CC last night (though I should've). So I'm playing with Wii Remote and Nunchuck. Gets the job done, but I'll change to a CC sooner or later.

I'm using the CC and can't get used to the analog stick. I always play fighters using the d-pad. I've been trying to figure out if there's a way to make it so that the d-pad is used for movement...

i thought you could just swap it in the control scheme page.. hmm, i'll have to try it tomorrow.
The Wiimote setup isn't bad. But then again I never owned SSBM.
I hear ya. I never owned a gamecube so I'm resorting to the wiimote setup or the CC if I get one (probably will).
The Wiimote setup isn't bad. But then again I never owned SSBM.
Same. I couldn't wrap my head around the Wiimote + Nunchuk control scheme though, so just Wiimote for now. I'll try out a Wavebird or CC sometime later.

Well, I didn't like Melee because I didn't like the GameCube controller vs. the N64 controller. I haven't bothered using just the Wiimote, but I started off with the Wiimote/Nunchuck combo, it was alright, but I'd rather go with a gamepad, so I switched to the Classic Controller which I like the best. My only problem is I tend to press x or y when I intend to hit a or b.

Right now Gamecube controller, tried classic but I really don't want to relearn controls... I like the classic though.

I really NEED a wavebird though... *sigh*

I played with the CC and the GC and so far GC wins. Maybe adjusting the CC a little will change my mind, but I'm just really used to the GC setup.

Right now the Wavebird, but after I clear SSE and unlock every character, I will try the CC. I have looked at the Wiimote + Nunchuck but for me it feels too awkward to really get used to (I am used to playing fighters with either a stick or a nice d-pad controller and this is neither).

I prefer the classic controller but it doesn't rumble =/. Playing with the Wiimote and nunchuck isn't as awkward as I thought it would be, I actually like that too.

The classic's analog is ass, so I am really hoping I can use the d pad. The wiimote sideways feels like garbage.
Otherwise I will definately use the wavebird. I am a smash bros version so this is going to be fun.

My buddy brought over GC controllers yesterday and I didn't use one. I felt mor comfortable using the Wiimote + Nunchuck setup. I'll be getting a CC this weekend when I am home for Spring Break to see the difference, but I do enjoy the W&N quite a bit.

I love the classic but the dpad and analog cant be switched, so that killed it for me since the analog is just out of range for me to be comfortable.

Wiimote/chuck combo is pretty good too. i expected it to be just something for the inexperienced to use, but it works well and i spent a while the first night playing that way.

But..I settled back in with my wavebird, and now use it and only it basically. i could see myself trying to get used to the CC, but not until much later on.

I actually tried the Wiimote + Nunchuck and I think it works pretty good except for one thing. That would be the motion controls they added into it. If I could turn those off I'd be golden using it, which I'll check for when I get home. It's been so long since I last played melee it feels pretty awkward using my gamecube controller, but I need to reconfigure it for my preference if I am to use it.

I won't bother using the classic controller. The thing is too tiny for me to hold without my hands hurting after half an hour no matter which way I hold it.

right now I'm more comfortable with the nunchuck and wiimote setup. I found that its just as responsive as my two knockoff wavebirds from gamestop and just as comfortable in my hand really. I'll probably try to classic controller and my wavebird again before I make a final choice. I'm relatively new to the series so I don't have a "feel" for any one controler yet.

I don't have a GC troller im gonna grab one, but I been using the wiimote cause thats all i have that I like I don't really like the nunchuck but ill give it a try later. But the wiimote is really good I just have to get used to blocking/parry/side steppin with the trigger button which is going along pretty good with the wiicondom on .

Umm I'm using the same controls and I don't need to use any kind of motion to control anything in the game so what are you talking about? o_O

I clicked on one option on in the Wiimote + Nunchuck which may of triggered the motion sensing since I didn't know what it was. I thought it was used for smash balls but after playing it I'm not so sure it is. I will be turning it off later and trying without it to see if that was the problem I was having.

Was pretty annoying when I had an itch or something my character would flip halfway across the screen. :p

Ohhh you don't need any of that a direction and A or a direction and B give you all your normal moves just like the GC. Throws use A+B etc I'm about 90% certain you need 0 waggle to play it with a nunchuck and wiimote setup :).

Yeah I know you don't need to use it to perform moves and I didn't while it is/was on my configuration. It's just annoying since I move the controller while normally playing and it interferes with my playing.

yeah I could see that, I would be annoyed if I sneezed or something and my guy jumped off the side of the board. Mind you I'd probably laugh as well but I'd still turn it off after ^_^.

I tried it using the Wiimote and then classic controller. I really didn't like the wiimote because you have to use up to jump (I'd rather use the button) and theres no smash stick.

wavebird/GC controller is the only way to play this game in my opinion. I tried briefly with the classic controller and it was better but still not as good as the GC controller

With the Wii-mote/nunchuck setup, there's a button to jump and I never had any motion controls on with that setup.

I've only tried the Wavebird thus far due to a long history with SSBM. I doubt anyone could get me to try anything else.

So far I've tried all four, like GC the best, wiimote and classic are tied and nunchuck+wiimote still getting used too.

Anyone using a thrustmaster? Picked one up at CC and it's actually pretty good. The rumble is the strongest I've felt in any controller and the button placements aren't bad (GC has the best button placements for this game, i think).

DAMN just looked on Ebay and used Wavebirds are closing for like $50+ right now! I got luckily and actually found one today for $19.99. I had been planning on buying a regular GC controller for $15.... I think i'll go back tomorrow and buy the other 2 and throw them to the idiots on Ebay. :D
