Yeah, it was a tax break originally meant for farmers so they could deduct farm equipment like tractors and stuff but if you were savvy enough, you could've seen it. I'm fortunate that I have that mentality in which I always look for loopholes so I can get what I want legally. Even though they've since closed the loophole there's still other structured loopholes that exist that will compensate for it. That's why I never bother griping about how the economy is good or bad or blaming them on the current adminstration. I made good chunks during clinton and I do the same with bush. It's all about being adaptable. The only person that really concerns me is Alan Greenspan and whoever else takes his place once he steps down from the FED (if he hasn't already).
Ph34r Alan Greenspan! :)

I think my parents got free long dstance since we'd need it, so it wouldn't hurt anything. I thought 801 was a Phoenix AC, but I see it's a Salt Lake City, Utah AC.

OK, that's not so bad. I was thinking like Hong Kong or some crap like that.
In regards to tax laws and money, my savvy is limited. I do have a 401k but that is all in regards to investing.
401k's are good but consider other investment vehicles such as Roth IRAs or VUL (variable universal life insurance). The Roths I'm not too familiar with so I let my advisor deal with that but from what I'm told there's a lot of benefits to it. The VUL is a good tax blanket in that any money you put in will be tax deferred essentially forever and you can use it as a pass through for many investments such as real estate, etc.

Another thing you might want to look into is real estate investment. Everyone's gungho about it now but I've been in this industry for quite some time before the uproar and such. It's easier to deal with market changes unlike the volatility of stocks and more growth than mutual funds at better interest rates.

A 3rd option would be setting up a business - preferably a C corporation or an LLC. It will depend on the regional business laws which will determine which is good for you.

I think the 3rd option is the best since it allows you to do many things. Using your home as a business you can deduct weird things:

dog as security
cat as pet control
children's allowance as employee wages
lunch at McDonalds as business expense
etc.

There's some 300 plus deductions you can potentially make (if you take the effort to find'em) legally as long as you have everything documented (receipts, meeting logs, etc. For example, say you and your wife take the kids to McDonalds and the total ends up being around $20. While at Mickey D's you and your wife (as partners in an homebased LLC) discuss what you want to invest both of your earnings in. This would count as a business meeting since you're discussing legitimate business that concerns the welfare of your company (your LLC). Thusly, you can consider the money paid for lunch as a business expense. Your wife takes out her logbook and log the time and place of your discussion and you keep the receipt as evidence this took place. At the end of the fiscal year, you take the logbook along with the receipt to your company accountant (which may also be you or your wife) to justify all the expenses and then you fill out the appropriate company filings.

Whether or not he's serious...

If you guys want me to stop, just say so. I just type in caps and act stupid for my own amusement. If you want my continuous smarter side, say the words.

I just got quoted in my friends speach for class president next year, he said=
"In the words of the great (my name) 'Dude, you should run for president, that would be freaking awesome!"

I hope he wins.
I didn't vote for him though, the other candidate is a really hot girl.

Of course I'm not serious, I'm hardly ever serious on here. If I ignored everyone I threatened with an ignore, I'd have like 5 more people on my list. :) It doesn't bother me at all. I just like to bring some humor, though it never seems that good, when you bring your gay side out.

That seems familiar. Whenever I try and bring humor into a situation, people think I'm gay... Odd.

Anybody else think the Beach Boys are a bunch of talentless hacks?

After exploring into guitar legend Chuck Berrys greatest hits, I realized the beachboys used basically everything from his songs...

They also hung out with charles manson, so you know theres something wrong
Send some of that this way.
Why, still haven't showered? ;)

I was out at ultimate electronics looking at hdtvs (30% off and all). When I got in the truck to leave the temp read 91. By the time I got home it was 63.

Naw, I took one when I got back from school. We could use a cool off and I love thunderstorms, one downside of the desert.
Crazy desert which is Kansas... It's gone from low 90's to 73 now.
It's gone from 90 to 97 to 94 since earlier today.

Yeah, well you don't have to live there.

But you're welcome to visit. Just keep the young boys at home (or at least exercise a bit of discretion). ;)
