SNES Classic Discussion Thread

Why does everyone want the U.K. one? It's so ugly compared to the U.S. one. Controllers look great but the deck itself looks really dated with the gray on gray color scheme. Not looking to troll just curious.

I think the opposite is true but to each their own

I think it's more aesthetically pleasing. The US one has always looked cheap to me, even before the yellowing of the originals. The only benefit was purple buttons & the easy to remove pins to make it region free.

Thanks. Would they charge in yen or USD? Just wondering which card I should use in case of foreign transaction fees.
they charge what currency you select. so if you see USD those are the prices of the exchange rate. last time I ordered there was no foreign transaction fees on debit card. cc not sure

Probably going to kick myself for not ordering a UK model, since I'm sure the US one will sell out in the time it takes to refresh a page once they go live. So nervous about missing this thing.

Missed this whole thing until late last night. If I had ordered on amazon.uk I would be done now.

Exactly, no one calling or torturing staff is buying a 4K TV when they pick up the Mini, or anything else unless it's "N" related.

Completely agree, as most of these places are making peanuts from a device like this, and considering how the phones get tied up for days, weeks, and months. I'm sure if given the chance, they would opt not to even carry something like this, as it's not really benefiting the business at all, and only creates more work, that probably just cuts in to the funds already being made, due to all the extra work involved.
That's incorrect, there is significant profit in these. State of the art hardware does have small margins that require add on sales, but this has no add on sales, particularly since they are including the second controller this time. The hardware is dirt cheap to make for Nintendo, and the licenses aren't much since they own most of them anyways. There is significant profit to be made from the Classic consoles.

They LOVE items that have a 100% sell-through with zero shelf time like this. If you were to get a candid response from an executive about the hassle the employees face, it would be "That's what we pay them for", they aren't putting in extra hours for this - they aren't working while people are shivering in tents outside. So they have to deal with unreasonable customers on this, most of them don't take this personally - they just laugh at the grown ass man that was borderline in tears or the soccer mom that insisted not getting one was going to ruin their kid's childhood about not getting a videogame in the breakroom later.

I imported the Super Famicom when it was first released, and I loved everything about it. I even thought the box was beyond cool. Then enter NoA, and that horror that was the SNES.

So if for some reason I ever bought one of these, it would for sure be the UK or Japanese versions, as I just never liked the US look, colors, design or anything about it(outside of the games being in English of course).

So for this morning's entertainment I went to Gamefaqs Switch board page. Had a good laugh reading all of the millennials bitching and spouting how scalpers and Nintendo limiting stock is why we need socialism and government intervention instead of capitalism (albeit we don't have a true free market economy). Literally all because they don't think it's "fair" they won't 100% get a flipping plastic emulation toy (not that I'm not sitting here with tabs open myself lol). Entitled bastards.

Yeah, personally I think Nintendo should auction off each one to the most worthy capitalist. That's fair.

Always feel bad for the employees during times like this.  I just make sure to treat them respectfully, ask them how their day is going, use my manners, and talk to them like people.  There are a lot of jerks out there and a couple of them can ruin someone's day quickly.  Retail is a thankless job so make sure to take the time to thank the workers, if they aren't rude to you of course.

It's a different listing and it's cheaper than yesterday.

Yesterday's order came out to 71.61 pounds
Today's order came out to 63.28 pounds

My total on this second UK order was cheaper too. Yesterday was $91 USD. Today was $85 USD.

I chose a different shipping this time, too - I went with AmazonGlobal Shipping. Yesterday I went with Standard Shipping.

(I am not keeping both of these, I am canceling both as soon as I can snag a US preorder.)

How do I keep missing the Amazon UK stuff? Damn it. GAME cancelled the preorder that my British person made as well. I'm not doing well so far.
