So..How would you rate the Wii?

Spades22

CAGiversary!
So from all you've played so far, how do you like the console? Do you like the Wiimote controller better than the standard ones? From all the consoles you've gotten at launch, how much do you enjoy this one compared to the others?

Well so far it's been good. Not feeling so much the internet use of it. The connection takes awhile, but it's the first day. It could very well be overwhelmed right now.

Other then that.. it's great.

But.. we all gotta give it like a GOOD week. Have plenty of time to try all the games we got and have a fair/honest opinion of them and the system overall.

Only played it so far for maybe 5 hours today (since I came in at 2am lol) so.. can't say TOO much yet. Rayman is a blast, though
How can you objectively rate a console after owning it after owning it for a matter of hours?
I'm gonna lean towards no.
First impressions?, yeah.

Well I guess I was just talking about myself then, since I usually know what I like when it comes to video games within the first few hours. I guess we're all different though. Also I'm pretty anxious to find out what everyone thought about it. Anyway I'm glad someone likes Rayman, that was actually my 2nd most wanted game besides Zelda before release.

Console alone... just the actual machine. Construction, menus, options, etc? 10 out of 10. Easily.

My buddy and I played with the stupid photo channel puzzle mode for 20 minutes and had genuine fun.

Red Steel is Okay, GT Pro is Meh and Wii Sports is fun. So the games have yet to be proven.

The system, though, is top notch.

Ya I'm kinda glad I didn't get one, I can first see what everyone thinks of the game sthen pick out the cream of the crop =P

Wii hardware?: Nice, small, sleek.
Wii games: Zelda. I mean, that's all I really need to say.

So far? fucking good way to spend $250. Especially Sony's $250.

Red Steel is pretty hard to get used to. After I got better it got more fun, but it's still kinda hard because you can't find cover that often when there's a big room of bad guys tryin' to kill you. Although being able to walk up to someone and just smack them in the head with your sword, that's awesome. Along with flipping tables for cover.

Edit: But it's still a blast and will be even more once I get used to it. Wii Sports it's pretty sweet too. Deffinatly worth camping out the 12 hours.

Ya oh I was kinda also hoping when I made this to relate how fun you find playing games RIGHT AT LAUNCH, meaning initial impression, compared to how you felt when you got the GC or N64, or PS2 or w/e at launch.

The Wii60 combo is really going to rock the holiday. So far I have had more fun with my Wii for less then a day then I have had with the PS3 since the 17th. Tennis Owns all. My only gripe is that component cables are impossible to find "instore" and extra remotes and good accessories are hard to find right now. Funny they made all those controller protectors and not enough controls. BB ran out of Zeldas? WTF! 8 out of 10 for launch
lol =/ you can return it can't you?
yea but that doesn't mean i get a replacement lol

waiting on nintendo support... hopefully it doesn't take an hour to connect to someone damn system from hell

I'd rate it, but I can't connect it to my TV until I get the component cables in the mail...

The lowest I can go on my TV is an S-Video connection, and those are backordered through February.

I'd rate it 9/10 in aesthetics, though. Nice lookin white brick sitting under my TV.

So far, so great--Wii Sports has completely shocked me with how good it is, plus Zelda is great as well. Haven't got into Monkey Ball that much, yet.

So far, I'd rate it a 9.5/10

nintendo tech support is great.. i have to go to someone elses house who owns a wii and test my system out to see if its the adapter or my system thats busted lol

Man loving the reviews at least they aren't like "Wii sports sucks, controller is way worse than the GC" etc. Anyway if I were you I'd just return it and maybe they have an extra in the back. I wouldn't want to repair and keep a system that is broken already!

yea already called walmart and they don't have any to exchange mine with... dunno if a raincheck would be faster than nintendo's idea lol

I was surprised my Uncl liked the Wii!

Specifically Wii bowling but !

So I like this console even more now....they really are getting non gamers into the game...

I'm liking the Wii so far, but I must admit some mild dissapointment with the control. I've been playing on a 13 inch screen that is only about 3 feet away from my bed, so that probably effects it somewhat. But I've only played a half hour of Wii sports and 1.5 hours of Zelda (just got my sword), so it's hard for me to judge based on that.

I actually got my girlfriend to play a videogame and like it since the original NES when she was little. I can't believe it! I think Nintendo has a winner in its hands...we tried Zelda, Wii Sports, Red Steel (that one was hard to figure out), and Monkey Ball. Graphics aren't that great (compared to PS3/Xbox 360) but boy is it fun, so who cares! :D

As far as the interface, the controller, and the games, I give it a 10.

I love it. Amazing. Feels as innovative and new as N64 felt, and that's huge.

I wish it was complete, though...with the online aspects ready for launch.

Great system. I have played a couple of hours of Zelda. I would have spent all day with my Wii like I planned, but I wanted to spend some time with my family. My mom and I picked up my Wii and had breakfast before picking it up. Had lunch out with my dad and went and saw the new Bond flick. Great movie. I am going to hang out with a friend in a bit I think, but I might just spend some QT with Zelda. All in all, it is fantastic and I can't wait to get more play time in on it.

It was a little weird having to actually be careful of the friend next to me when playing boxing, I almost got knocked out for real because he was making such wide swings. I wish the Dashboard was a tad faster, like sometines when it flashes back to a dim channel menu and it takes a bit to load them.

I played Wii Sports for a couple of hours today at a friend's and it was great. The best part, I think, is that we actually PLAYED for nearly the whole time. The learning curve was nearly non-existant, which is something they were aiming to do and excelled at.

Spades: Yes, they're 4 player except for Boxing and Baseball.

So far it's looking ok, but the controller definately takes some time to get used to.

I have noticed that it got WAY easier to control COD3 between my first and second times trying it. So if that's a sign as to how quickly you can pick it up, it shall kick all sorts of ass for days to come.

I sure hope Nintendo is planning to bring out a version of Mario Kart for the Wii with online play. That would be amazing.

Ya Mario Kart, Smash bros...hopefully its good they have games that would make the best online play ever.

Very impressed..

the channels interface is just about perfect, the only thing that bugs me is the slight loading times when switching between some menus.

My internet connection worked perfectly after setting it up the first time, the updates were slow, but I'm sure Nintendo's servers are being hammered.

After less than 2 hours playing with the machine, I don't even think about the Wii Remote anymore unless Zelda tells me to point it at the screen. I love this thing.. Rayman is hilarious and fun and I love the mechanics in Zelda so far.. sword slashes feel good, aiming feels exactly how I thought it would.. i don't find it hard to control the reticle and keep it steady.

The hardest things I've encountered so far are syncing controllers for the first time (the first additional controller I bought, that is..) and changing the horizontal field of view while aiming in Zelda.

My favorite aspects:

It is intuitive

Freedom of movement and position.. I like not having my hands locked onto a piece of stationary plastic, the two controller parts make it very easy to relax while playing.

The on-screen keyboard couldn't be any better, I'm already able to type well with it after 30 minutes of use

Looking forward to playing with it more.. maybe I'll pick up Red Steel tomorrow for something different.. so far I've got Zelda, Rayman and Madden.. haven't played Madden yet, but I will tomorrow.

Got my system and it's enjoy it's time in the closet for Christmas time :whistle2:( I was happy to find out that I can use the gamecube controllers to play the N64 games when you download them.

It's like a DS Lite but its a home console. Very slick looking. Everything ran smooth out of the box including the internet update. I played Wii sports for a little while and I was amazed at how much fun it actually was. I wasn't sure after reviews. Started on Zelda...crushing my expectations....simply amazing. For me this little box screams NEXT GEN.

Dang awesome. I never bought a DS lite cause I'm not one for portable systems and small screens, I usually hook up my home console to a tv on long trips. But this sounds better than I thought thats for sure.

Its hard to judge based on just today because of the shock value and the hype. But if I had to I would say AWESOME. Right out of the box playing Wii Sports I was blown away at the awesome design and was surprised at the natural feeling controls. I got the 360 on launch day and didn't play it all day like this, even though I play it A LOT now. I just think its the new arcade type feel that keeps me in awe. I would say there is a crap load of potential for great games that I'm sure will be coming soon. So as of now, 10 out of 10.

man you guys are all lucky. i still have to find some way to pick it up. my copies of zelda and trauma center are lonely without a wii to play on. so has anyone purchased trauma center yet? if anyone has i would like to know how difficult or how fun it is. already i can tell my first impressions will be satisfied....man waiting hurts.

I got Wii Sports (of course) and Zelda. Wii Sports was a lot of fun and felt really natural with the controller, but all of the sports games got kind of repetitive. Overall I'd say it's good as a demo for the controller, but not as a full-fledged game, so it's a good thing it comes with the console. If I wanted to show the Wii to someone who never plays games I'd use this.

While I was playing Wii Sports, I was getting really excited about the potential for bringing in new gamers. If all Wii games were this easy to pick up and learn, it would be great. Unfortunately this didn't happen. I started playing Zelda and it feels mostly like playing any other game with a "regular" controller. Stick for moving, B button does this, A button does that, etc. I personally didn't have a problem with this, but only because I play a lot of video games. A new gamer who had fun with Wii Sports is not going to immediately feel comfortable with Zelda.

BTW, Wii Sports's graphics are as I expected, simple but crisp. No real complaints there. Zelda's graphics on the other hand just suck. Not that anybody plays Zelda for the graphics, but I was really disappointed. It was worse than most of the original Xbox's launch titles.

Anyway, my overall conclusion is that the Wii will sell like crazy, and it's a good deal compared to the 360 and the PS3. If you're an experienced gamer who plays a lot of shooters though, for example, you will prefer a 360 or a PS3.

I'm amazed at how much people have turned on Zelda's graphics. When they released that trailer 2.5 year ago at E3 people were blown away and doubting that it could be done on a current gen console and actually play like that at 60 frame per second. Granted the game is a GC port and thus can't be compared to other Wii titles (and especially not PS3/360 titles), I'd say it looks pretty damn good. It probably ties with RE4 in terms of the best the cube can offer anyway.

The only not nice thing I can say about the graphics is that for my money, I'd say Okami is the best looking game out today and that's for a 6 year old system. So while TP is no Okami, it's still a very pretty game.

Hell, I would say it was almost worth the $250 EVEN IF IT DIDN'T PLAY GAMES. Making the Mii's, playing around with the Photo Channel, and the future capability of surfing the net - that alone makes it nearly worth the price. (Had something like this come out 3-4 years ago at that price as just a TV web-browser with the added features of photo viewing, etc, I would have gotten one for $250). Oh wait, it plays Gamecube games and these new-fangled Wii games, AND you can download older games to play on it as well? I see no feasible reason for a gamer not to own this system.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pretty sure if I saw that video 2.5 years ago and it looked like it does today, I would not have been impressed. Kind of a random comparison, but I remember playing Splinter Cell a year before that.

Man am I glad to hear it's a port from the GC, I did not know that. That's good news because hopefully games meant only for the Wii will look better.

BTW what's with the loading time between every single different area? I seriously couldn't believe that was happening, I thought we were done with that shit when GTA3 came out, wasn't that five years ago?
