So, I as a seller lost 60+ bucks on the Amazon marketplace...
I'm not sure why we give ebay all our money. It's too bad we don't have a better selling/trading system on CAG.

CAG marketplace is in beta now
CAG marketplace is in beta now
Man, I'm really behind on CAG news... this is the first I've heard of CAG marketplace.
is CAG marketplace gonna take my money? or is it fee free?
It'd be nice if it was free, but I'd be ok paying a small fee if it works well.
Man, I'm really behind on CAG news... this is the first I've heard of CAG marketplace.
Don't feel bad - I just read about it myself the other day on another web site .
Why even bother replying? They're never gonna buy it anyway. And if they do, they're gonna be pains in the asses. I prefer that those people NOT buy my item. Don't need the headache.
If someone did this to me, I would add them to my block list, you don't need these people bidding on your items because they will likely cause you trouble and if your selling games or electronics you will have hundreds of other people interested in your item so no worries about blocking just one person.
Aint that the truth. My biggest complaint now about Ebay is the idiots that bitch about shipping. I'll sell $30 items for like $8, then my shipping will be like $1-$2 above what the actual shipping is (so say it costs $3 to ship an item, I may set my cost at $4 or $5).

I get the people that complain and say "I know what shipping costs, and that's not it. I want it for $3." They don't take into account that even with the shipping, they're saving like $20 as it is. This has become all too common on Ebay IMO. WAY to many people on there who want something for nothing.
Just send via PayPal shipping and use the hide shipping cost option, I've never gotten anyone complain.

I've never lost a PayPal dispute since becoming a powerseller. ebay will do anything for you if you call the hotline and bitch. I realized a game was resealed and had already left positive feedback and he had sig confirmation and I won the dispute.

Never had a problem on amazon yet, I get sig con on anything over $20 but no one has even filed a claim or anything.

I will never sell on Amazon because of all the problems sellers have. 15% commission plus a 99 cents transaction fee and not a big shipping credit? Forget that, when you have to use signature confirmation as well.

For EBay, I use DC on all items sold, anything over $50 gets signature confirmation as I'm not willing to take any chances even though they only require it for $250+ sales.

I also hate how Half charges the buyer $3.49 shipping and you only get $2.89 back. The seller should get the full shipping cost back.

I sold a textbook for $.01 + $2.99 shipping. After Amazon's cut and shipping I think I lost a buck. Then the buyer says he doesn't need it and wants to return it. I'm like "yeah, $5 restock fee" I never heard from him again.

Well, I think there's the catch 22 right there. I've had, literally hundreds of transactions with no problems until these two which occured so quickly after each other. I think using sig confirmation is excessive for a 20 dollar item-- I've sent out a couple of hundred dollar items and didn't do that. Stupid on my part perhaps since I can see the merit in using sig confirmation on that.

But say on these hundreds of transactions (for sake of arguement, we'll say 200 and, oh, 150 of those are 20 and above) and I'm paying a 1.75 on each sale. That's a couple hundred bucks I'm spending so I can avoid getting screwed, but in reality I only got screwed out of around 65 bucks. So it isn't cost effective to do sig confirmation in that manner. So by not doing sig confirmation, I actually lost less money. Which is good. But I still got fucked over which still pisses me off.

I'd rather sell on Ebay strictly since I've heard more success stores of DC working then not working.

damn OP, that sux alot. Alot of shifty bastards out there that'll do some grimey shit like that. never happened to me but i sold on ebay only a handful of times and i don't plan on doing it again after reading this. So easy to do..just take the shit and say u never got it? and they take your word for it? damn.

Well that story is keeping me from ever selling on Amazon.

I've only had one negative feedback on Ebay because the guy claimed he never received the item even though he never once e-mailed me about it. I only found out about it via the negative feedback.

I sold an item on Half.com and a few weeks later the buyer said she never got it and asked where it was. When I mentioned delivery confirmation, she shut up and I never heard back from her.

Amazon has surpassed eGay in the seller fail department I think. I only use either of them as a last resort and it pains me every time. CL ftw if at all possible.

yeah I used to sell, this season is so much better and relaxed. Less money but its not worth it.

I used to sell older PC games and an occasional Video game or other item.. I moved to Amazon and so far had been good, but I still sell on ebay or amazon once in a while.

I picked up some jaybird bluetooth phones at target a few months back for like 35 and dropped them on amazon for like 80. They sold two days later and after fees I made like 25 or something. Other than that one off stuff I wont do it. I still use amazon for the simplicity of listing.

I have been burned a few times on ebay and they dont back you as a seller.

On ebay I describe any flaws with the item in detail, so if something happens its right there in the auction description. I also have a picture that I take myself and I never use a stock picture. The scammers are probably more likely to hit your auction if your just one of those people who lists a game and doesn't even write a description and uses a stock photo.

On ebay the listing fees are very very cheap, they had a couple half off days recently and I was doing auctions for 13 cents and 18 cents, and amazon charges .99 unless you have their monthly membership. The FV fees are on par with amazon or less, and I just think its the cost of doing business. I don't do BIN auctions for games so I don't get hosed on the fees, I just put it up for the price I want it to sell for and I usually get one or more bids which negates the advantage of using BIN. If I were to open a store in a mall or something I would have to pay rent and I would probably get next to no business since there is no way that an independent game/toy store is going to get any business around here not to mention I would have to sit there all day and hope that someone would buy my stuff that I would probably have to price higher than Target/Walmart in order to afford the store.

Always use DC and you should be fine, and if your using insurance you have to use DC as well because apparently insurance is not enough, you need that DC number. If a buyer questions a package and you come back with the DC number and a good response they will usually leave you alone.

Yeesh, WTF is up with amazon's rates anyway? It's NOT 15% plus $.99 per item, check it:

I just sold a brand new Super Mario Galaxy:

Buyer's Price: $44.99
Shipping Credit: $3.99
Amazon Commission: $-9.09
Your Earnings: $39.89

Ummmm, 15% of $44.99 is $6.75 ($6.7485 actually). Plus the $.99 fee = $7.75

So why are they taking out an extra $1.34? Even if I threw the $3.99 for shipping and handling on top and took 15% of the total, it would work out to $8.34, NOT $9.09. I haven't been combing over their results too carefully, nor have I been verifying their deposits to my account. I guess that had better change posthaste.

EDIT: I just reconciled the deposits against the records of game sales, and the deposits are in line.

However, I'm not sure why they're taking such a big chunk of the selling price...

DOH! Just figured it all out. I didn't realize there was a FINAL CLOSING FEE as well! It's $1.35 per video game. This must have been added after I started selling, because that is ridiculous.

So they take $.99 per item ("per transaction fee"), 15% of the selling price of the item, and a variable closing fee, for video games it's $1.35. Holy Christ.

Man, ripoff city! And if some scammer hoses you, they won't even back you up.

Amazon collects fees only when your item sells. At that time, Amazon collects your sales price and shipping costs from the buyer, deducts a commission of 6 to 15 percent of the sales price, a per-transaction fee of $0.99, and a variable closing fee. The $0.99 per-transaction fee is waived for Pro Merchant Subscribers.
Basically the scammers can take your money on Amazon or ebay. I just hope for the best and the really big ticket items, i ship via UPS.

People are so lame/shady.

It's quite sad really.

I just think that in the end, they'll get anally raped in hell.

fuck em.
Hey, don't forget, some people actually like that kind of stuff.

Amazon charges 1.35 on top of the 15% and the .99 for video games as a "closing Fee".

Sorry to double post, but I created a thread (with the help of many CAGs) to keep a list of addresses and ebay IDs of known repeat "scammers". I strongly suggest you guys check out the list in the 1st post before you ship out anything game related.

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=189537

If you guys have a name to add, just post it in the thread and if they do more than 1 chargeback, we will add them to the OP as repeat "scammers".

I've realized, Amazon is a bunch of wankers.
Now I recently got my account suspended...and I don't feel like going through a week of sucking up again to get it back up. Okay, whatever.

Why was it suspended this time?
-I meet all the standards except this... I canceled an order. Report to them about how the guy is a scammer. He was one of the names listed on our fraud list here. He leaves negative rep. And my pre-fullfillment rate for short term hit 5%...I only shipped 20 something orders. So it was at 5% instead of the 2.5.

I got suspended for that.

I find it amusing that they side with the buyers so much when really. You drive off one good seller. You'll lose far more money than driving off a dozen crappy buyers.

I don't use Amazon anymore for selling (except textbooks), Ebay's fees are lower and im more likely to get feedback.

I almost got fucked over the very first time I started selling. Had 2 PS3 controllers to sell. One sold, shipped it out (with no DC#). Surprise surprise, one week later I get the buyer contacting me about them not getting it. So I swallow my pride and ship out the other one I had with priority shipping and a DC#. 2 days later he tells me that they got the first one because it shipped to the wrong apartment number. Pain in the ass, but at least he was honest and shipped the second one back unopened.

Similar but crappy seller-

Wife orders a textbook off amazon. It never shows and class is about to start. We have waited and contact the seller. No reply. File with amazon for credit. They credit me. All went as planned. The item shows up one day with a postmark 6 weeks after it was supposed to have shipped. Books back cover is tore in half. I've already been credited and wasn't gonna do a damn thing. Well, I get a typical followup from amazon. I reply and say we already have a bookas we needed it for class. Tell them I'll be glad to ship it back but not without prepaid label. I never heard back from anyone on it. Talk about a lazy seller. Not to mention the book was listed as NEW but had the tear. If the seller had paid to ship it back it would have been worth it. $40 used book. Now I will be selling it. LOL
day on another web site .
yeah vinny is behind the times. i wonder which other website that is
How often can I scam people on eBay and Amazon before my account is closedl?
Well Amazon only lets you do 5 A to Z claims...so I guess 5? :)
Well Amazon only lets you do 5 A to Z claims...so I guess 5? :)
5 if they make it to claims, lots of sellers on amazon try to avoid A to Z so scammers actually can scam a lot more than 5 times on a single account.

Before you create a new account

Well, in case anyone wants an update:

I've been banned from selling on Amazon. All over two transactions where I didn't want to willingly give the buyers their money. Although Drfriel (GameDealDaily.com) made an arrangement with me for him to sell on my account, and racked up some negatives and claims, I don't think that had anything to do with my banning because I never got a warning through email about getting banned last Christmas when DrFriel was using the account. After the first claim, they emailed me saying that my quality numbers were low and I may get banned.

I can appeal. Which I guess I may do.

EDIT: It never fucking ends. I got a third email saying from someone else saying that they didn't receive their item. I swear, they must read one feedback from someone who scammed me saying they didn't receive their order and say "Why not me too?"

Why would you let someone else sell on your account? Doesn't seem surprising that they racked up negative and claims if they had to resort to using a different account.

Because of the money-making opportunity. And true to their word, I got paid (made about 1000 bucks for him using the account for two months) I never lost any money, just got my feedback percentage down to 95%.

And like I said, I didn't have any issues with losing my account until the Christmas scammers came after me. I got nothing but positives for a year. I'm going to have to look up to see how many claims you can have because it's looking like I'm about to have three in one month, and that may have been enough to get me banned anyway, especially considering no one seems to leave positive feedback to help out my percentage.
