So, people actually get naked and shower together in certain places?

A friend of mine that did some time a couple years back told me about showering in prison.

He had of course heard the "don't drop the soap!" warnings and all that.
When he DID inevitably drop it, there was a tense moment in his mind, and then one of his showermates just bent over and picked it up for him saying, "Yo, lemme get that for you, son!"

The best possible ending to such a story I think, besides the Kool-Aid man suddenly bursting through the wall and leading a prison break.

There were showers in my middle school and high school, but no one ever used them, except for after school. Even though we came back from outside all stinky , no one had time to shower because as soon as we come back inside, the bell for the next class rang.
I guess you haven't seen his blogs yet.

I wonder if the Chuplayer will make a blog now with all his dolls naked in the shower taking pictures.
:applause::applause::applause:
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
I don't get this at all. We never had to shower in gym class at my schools, but people actually do this? And at other places, too?

How is this not the most awkward thing in the entire world? I don't want to be naked around a bunch of other dudes.
Its only awkward because its not normal for you.

When I was in the army was plenty of times you took a shower and saw other naked guys but for most of us it wasnt a big deal, your just naked. Now it would be awkward if we were staring at eachothers dicks licking out lips or rubbing asses together, but that didnt happen. Was little weird for me at first but got used to it quick.

We used to shower at school. Most people would leaving their swimming trunks on after swimming, but fuck it, I wanted to clean down there too. Besides, we all have the same parts, what's awkward about it?
Of course the most awkward shower moment for me was working the Woodstock concert in '94. I used to always wait till late at night to take my shower alone. So I go into the men's shower tent, undress and start my shower. Then I start to wake up n realize there's a woman standing across from me taking a shower.

I was like a deer in headlights for a moment or two. Then I think I offered to wash her back like a true perv. She just kinda smirked, finished her shower and left.:whistle2:#

Thing is, she was like a D cup and about 4-5 inches or more taller than me, so I got her chest right at eye level.;)
Crazy hippies

I never had to shower after gym in middle or high school because we didn't have time ( :bomb: half the time the ex. drill instructor would keep us past the bell). However, when I was in football, basketball and baseball I had to and it was no big deal (unless I forgot my aqua socks because the floor was :puke:). The stalls in the main school in HS had no doors, so every one would go to the modules outside even if it was the middle of winter :cold: (since they had working :hot:). Mostly because my old high school had :hot: and :cold: issues all the time because it was built just after WWII :twoguns: (previously it was a pow camp/army base/dumping ground). I can't tell you how many times I had to wear my coat all day or sweat my ass off in late May/early June.

school showers were nasty as fuck in my high school, I'd never shower in them.

even now, I'd rather leave the gym and shower in my own house then take a shower in those showers. i guess i'm a germ freak.

The first few days in seventh grade football, the all wore our shorts in the shower. By the end of the first week, everyone had gotten over it. It really isn't a big deal.

Going nude in certain places, like the gym locker room or spa, among adults doesn't really bother me.

The last gym I belonged to had a huge, really nice ladies locker room and a sauna. There were two types of showers...one big room with a bunch of shower spigots on the walls (group shower), and then a couple of enclosed stalls for the shy ones, although I rarely saw the stalls being used. Most women who used the locker room and sauna went around naked or wearing nothing but a towel, or were in a constant state of partial undress as they changed from street clothes to gym clothes and vice versa. Sometimes I think guys are more sensitive about this kind of thing than women.

Maybe more people get over this kind of thing when they mature and become adults? The last time I remember anyone making a big fuss about having to group shower was in junior high gym class (we had the option of doing showering if we wanted).
Crazy hippies
I don't think it was so much 'crazy hippies' as the fact that the ladies shower was the furthest one from the giant tent where they made bunks that we all slept on for the week of the concert.

I guess she figured it was the middle of the night and no one would mind if she was in the men's shower at 2-3am. I certainly didn't mind one bit.;)

Mind ya all of the showers they set up for us up there were clogged repeatedly and the water would back up till it was about 4-5" deep on the floor.

But that wasn't the worst problem we faced by the end of the week there. Apparently they forgot to get the porto-crapper people in there on a regular basis at both the concert site(green mud from all of the rain and the overflowing porto-potties=:puke:)and the worker's camp, since it would seem people had to become contortionists to take a crap in those.

One was actually filled OVER the top of the seat by about 2-2.5 feet and someone took to sticking a tampon into the top of the stinkin' pile like a flag atop Mt. Shitpile.:puke:
Man, that sounds pretty nasty. :puke:
You should've seen the people rolling around in the mud at the concert site. It was kind of nauseating watching people rolling around in that green mud.

The day after the concert was pretty nice though. It was really sunny, which was drying up that nasty mud. There were chicks still walking around topless looking for their friends. Fun times.;)

It's really too bad that the next Woodstock concert in 1999 at the 30th anniversary of the original got ruined by the fuckin' idiots who had to sort of riot at the end of it.

Then again, I'm shocked no one rioted at the '94 one, since they were gouging like crazy for everything. That's why I was glad I was one of the employees, since I got to eat for free, even at the overpriced food tents.:D;)

What was funny was 'Nobody Beats The Wiz' had a big long retail tent set up there. It was such a commercial venture by comparison to the original it was kinda sickening.
I sometimes took a shower if I had time because there would always be someone who walks during the jogs we did and we only would have a couple minutes to change and get to the bus.I was on the wrestling team too and we had to take a shower or else we would get ringworm. Why would you get ringworm?
It is a sentiment shared throughout the military community as is evident by the questionnaire sent out to us.
Yeah, it's said the military is so full of homophobes.

But such ignorance is high in under-educated folk and the ranks of the military that used shared showers etc. are going to be mostly high school graduates and GED folks.

I respect them immensely for the sacrifices they make, but I wish ignorance (as reflected in the survey you note) wasn't so prevalent in the military and society in general.

I don't blame you on that one. Yes, commercialism ruined Woodstock no doubt about that.

I don't see the big deal either.
As far as don't ask don't tell thing you are already showering with gay men if it is lifted at least you will know who to avoid. Been in the military 14 years and honestly if they can do their job well, I will be happy to work with them.

Hypocritical, maybe just a little bit?

I graduated from High School about a year ago. 3-4 years ago in my Freshman and Sophomore year when I use to take gym we had showers, but no one used them except the football players. In middle school we only had one shower and it was never used. My guess is that in North Carolina most of the parents get scared easily of there kids taking showers in public schools? That and we did not have enough time between changing classes.

Your posts reek of elitism.
Hey, OP, how did you get the idea to post a thread about showering in public?
I was actually reading about don't ask don't tell being repealed.

guess was no big deal to me not only did we shower on gym, i was in sports showered after that and then there was the 30second drill in basic training. you had to have your whole squad showered and out in under 30 seconds you had soap on before you even hit water. was was more awkward was when a femal drill sargant came in and informed us all that 2 in another company next building over had crabs at same time. people afraid to take a shit after that
Wrestling mats are nasty as fuck, especially if they're not cleaned right.
So make sure they're cleaned right. But how do wrestling mats get ringworm? I did my fair share of rolling around in dirt and mud as a kid, and I never got ringworm.

isn't this really a "size of penis" discussion? i mean come on, the only thing that keeps people for being naked is the penis right? so i guess the op has a small penis.
I was actually reading about don't ask don't tell being repealed.
Yeah, because they tried letting idiots with no education (ie: drop-outs and criminals) join and that didn't work out so well. They'd just get people that would wash out of boot camp or way too many people that would never escalate in rank. An army of PFCs.

To a point...you dont want to be too big or too small because either one would draw stares
Maybe there's a difference in opinion amongst Air Force and Army people then. Most people in the Army that I know (also at 10 years of service but I'm still active) do not want the Don't Ask don't tell policy to be lifted.
As for your comment about looking down having some random dude blowing you, of course that doesn't happen. Yet it is uncomfortable and wrong to have to take a shower in an open bay with a person that could potentially be sexually interested in you. Would all girls feel comfortable with guys showering with them? Of course not, and that's what it boils down to. There's a seperation between men and women in shower facilities for a reason. Since nobody has a real solution about this they sent out a questionnaire on people's thoughts. I'm glad they at least ask us for our feedback.
Newsflash, you've probably showered with gay men before and didn't even know it, genius. With all the training, all the macho attitude, folks like you you get all squirmy at even the idea of this. You can handle being shot at, having bombs exploding all around you, but the idea that a guy might be checking you out is just too much to handle. Army strong indeed.

I've never denied that that possibility existed of me having showered with gay men, but if the don't ask don't tell policy is lifted, I will not want to shower with anyone who is openly gay. It just adds an extra layer of awkwardness that I don't care for. If given a choice to shower with only straight men or a mixture of straight and gay men what would you pick? With the current regulation ignorance is bliss and thus there's no added level of awkwardness. I still insist that most females would not want to shower with men if they had the choice, and how is this any different?

you say you respect the military, yet you are putting yourself on a pedestal compared to us. What makes you better than us?

gay or not, i have no problem with it. I care about accomplishing the mission, and obviously if they can complete it, they can.
I personally don't care whether don't ask, don't tell gets revoked, but I care about how the military is going to change because of it. Anyone who thinks that the regulation is just going to get changed and that's the end of it, is out of their mind. Thus the survey is put out to find out what kind of areas are going to effected (in people's opinions-not necessarily factual) with the change.
you say you respect the military, yet you are putting yourself on a pedestal compared to us. What makes you better than us?
I didn't mean to imply that at all.

Was just saying the military has lower levels of education than many other professions, and those are highly correlated with ignorance in the form of homophobia etc.

Add in the type A personalities, machismo etc. that goes along with being drawn to military careers etc. and that's why you have more resistance to things like working with gays than you do in say law firms or higher education etc.

I don't feel I'm better than military. I have family in the military. I feel I'm better than the homophobes who don't want to serve along side gays though. Intolerance is about the only thing I look down on people for.

Like I said, my gym is full of gays as midtown Atlanta has a very large gay population. Hell, Atlanta was recently voted the "gayest" city in the US in some article I saw in the local paper.

Doesn't bother me at all. Showering with guys is showering with guys. We all have the same parts.

Yep, easy enough for anyone on here that knows me to figure out anyway since it's the only Atlanta area school with a program in my field (which I've stated many times before). Will be the only one in the state that grants Ph D in my field starting this fall as well.

It's not a great university overall by any stretch of the imagination, but solid and rising program in my field. I had little interest in going to a tier 1 school after seeing during grad school at a top program how even full professors at tier 1 schools slave away and have no life. Add in personal reasons for moving to Atlanta and it was an easy choice for me. So it's not a pride thing that makes me not like to mention where I work.

I made the mistake of being specific about where I worked on another forum (a college sports board) and ended up with a couple losers finding my work e-mail and spamming it so I try to be a bit more cautious about personal info on forums. Ironically, over the same thing. A couple douches were upset over being called out as homophobes and spammed my e-mail with anti-gay rhetoric.

Ya, because I made a statement regarding my opinion on the issue. I was just wondering where your attitude of elitism came from.
Personally, I think "don't ask don't tell" is an idiotic policy, and should be repelled, but thanks for telling me my opinion!

Huh? I never said anything about your opinion, much less told you what your opinion was. You quoted a post of mine that was responding to Wolve11 with the elitism thing. Other than that I never said anything to you in the thread before now.

If you just meant my last post, I wasn't implying anything about your opinion. Just reflecting on the irony of the issue of where I work coming up, since the last time it came back to bite me on a forum was from a thread on pretty much the same topic. But I don't really fear the same thing here as CAG as a lot less douchebaggy than that sports board was/is.
