So who is lining up for the "second launch" of the XBOX 360?

I have a final on Monday, I work until 10:30 on Saturday night and have to work another 8 hour shift on Sunday starting at 2. I was considering lining up until I realized I have more important things to do :whistle2:(

Almost the same as me, I work from 9am to 7pm on Saturday then 11am to 7pm on Sunday, I won't even get to play the damn thing if I even get one.

Priorities with kids these days are all messed up !! Study for your final in line overnight and call in sick on Sunday - you call yourself a gamer !!! :) LOL
I know you guys are busting my balls, its ok...I've taken a rather unpopular stance on this. I just find it kinda sad that people would stand in the bitter cold all night long just to maybe get an xbox 360.

Its just a dumb console. Lets face it, your gamecube...your PS2...your xbox...the ones you have in your house RIGHT NOW...those are the former HOT systems. And yet now, you can't be bothered...no, now you guys gotta stand in line in winter to get the next HOT thing.

Me, I'm just playing some old Xbox/PS2 games I haven't touched, enjoying them, and waiting until I can walk into a Best Buy at 2:34pm on a Saturday Afternoon and just buy a frickin system and a few games right off the shelf. Screw this waiting in line stuff.

For what...to play PGR3 or Perfect Dark? I dont think so.........plenty of good alternatives to those games on the "last generation" systems......

Yes, we all want 360's....but I find the whole standing in line thing to be pathetic. Its like.....I mean sure, if you're totally wasted.....and doing it as a goof...what the hell, I'm all for it. But the guys who line up all serious...who want to get on TV.....its like oh brother man...gimme a break.

Like I said tho...I'm older than alot of you I'm guessing (35)......my time is worth more to me than burning an evening standing outside a store.

Personally, I figure in another 10 years there wont even be Brick and Mortar stores to stand in line in front of....as it is brick and mortar stores come and go in a span of like 5 to 10 years.....stores that used to last decades now last 3 years and close up shop. Shopping is a lost art ;)
"I've taken a rather unpopular stance on this" It’s not like this is a social issue; it's a damn videogame system. I do agree with some of your points and you make sense on some points. But, I have one question for you, why do you care if someone wants to stand out in the cold to get something they really want? I too am 35, and I have camped out for systems in the past (Xbox and Gamecube). And while won’t be camping out for the 360 (and I would get mine free, my GF is paying for it) I understand why some people do. When I camped out I had a blast. I got to meet many people that that share my love for games. It was kind of like a mini hardcore gamer convention. To people that want to camp out I say go for it.
"Madness and Hijinks"????

I hate to rain on someones parade here, but lets be frank. The only thing lining up for a videogame system says to the outside world is:

1) I dont have a job and my parents are paying for this. I'm so cool..I can't wait to go home and sit in my room and play xbox360, then go online and tell everyone how cool it was to stand there in line with everyone. (This applies to kids aged 18 to 40 by the way, including the "going to my room at my parents house" part).

2) I'm a total nerd with a job who is so obsessed with gaming that I wont ever have to worry about meeting a girl who isn't a 300lb Goth. Did you see my Nintendo Shirt? Gaming rules!

3) I live in a trailer and sell things on ebay. If I get one, I'll sell it to you in the parking lot for...uhhh...$8,000. Cuz they're hot. I also buy property with no money down..

I guess you really gotta be 15 and desperate for "anything different" in your life to want to participate in an event like this. Maybe if they had lines for the Colecovision or something I would have begged my parents to let me stand in line all night, but today the practice is just creepy.....

its like...lining up to MAYBE get a chance at a videogame system? Is there a better definition of the term "DESPERATE" or "STARVED FOR ATTENTION" anywhere in any dictionary? :)

PS: I just re-read this whole post..and its frickin harsh...so those who would flame me, go ahead..I deserve it..but...I stand by what i said :)
that said, STAY WARM tonight folks...if you live in a cold ass place like Chicago. no joke, bring a tent, layers, everything. It was about 45 degrees on 11/22 and I still came fairly close to hypothermia by the time 6am rolled around.

FYI for those who are thinking of going, I was at the Garner, NC BB this morning at 10:30 and there were already 4 people camped outside in line. From the dist list this store is supposed to get 24.
Im going to best buy 8:00 AM Sharp tommorow (52 Systems In) i feel not to many people will know. If i dont get it, I dont get it.
every body knowz man chance of u scoreing xbox360 is very slim... people gonna camp starting sat afternoon... Im not even going to try its way too cold out side and my bb only getting 24. hopefuly buy.com bundle deal works out...
Im going to best buy 8:00 AM Sharp tommorow (52 Systems In) i feel not to many people will know. If i dont get it, I dont get it.
I think that's what I'm going to do - there's just no way my tired old ass can stay out all night in line.

I don't see anything wrong with camping out for the system if you really want one. I got one on release day because I dropped $20 deposit on it the first day they were available for preorder. I didn't know if I would get it, but just in case, I didn't want to be standing out in the cold. I didn't have to rush to the store to get mine, I just strolled in on release day after I got out of work.

The really sad thing is that I haven't even played it that much. With a new house and Christmas, I've probably put 10 hours on it, tops. Maybe I should have sold it.

Anyway, the point is that I learned my lesson to always preorder with Zelda OOT. I couldn't find one when it released and it pissed me off to no end. I finally got one 3-4 weeks after release and I spend many days looking before I found it.

Just preorder the damn thing next time and you won't be worrying about camping out. Preorders are generally refundable, if you change your mind.

I stopped by Best Buy this morning, and there are already about 5 people waiting in line for a 360. I picked up FF IV and I'm going back later to stand in line.

I'll be making an early trip out the the BB here to see if I can grab one for a co-worker so her son has something under the Christmas tree.

Edit:
Regarding Zelda OOT preorder, I never did it cause I was at college. It came out right near thanksgiving though, so I got up at like 5am and headed out to the nearest WalMart and managed to score one. Came home, played for like an hour, and crashed. :)

Down here in Orange Park, FL, the weather report says it'll be raining all through Sunday afternoon. (Downpour's already started.) Fun.
I'm 31 and I disagree with you although I see your point. I think it's a fun experience and you get to meet other huge nerds that share a common interest. Plus, you can turn around and eBay it for twice what you paid and then use the money to get a "free" one in the spring. :D
There are 6 guys lined up at my Best Buy today..none of them look like gamers I'd like to meet, and when I walked by they were huddled around a laptop checking the prices on EBAY. Great....6 more unitsw ill be on sale tomorrow by 9am I'm sure.

Assholes.....

I just find it amusing.

Plus, its fun to ridicule that which we dont embrace ourselves...its the American way :)

I have no real problem with people standing in line cuz they want one.....I just hate knowning that probably every one of them is going to go on ebay.

AMEN BRUDDAH! :D

Seriously, enjoy yourselves.....still....if youre in a line...you're a dork.. :)

Actually no, you've just got a LOT of free time and some messed up priorities if you don't :)

I agree..its gonna be cold....most places....so enjoy. And if you rush home to put your system on ebay for a quick holiday sale tomorrow at 10am, I hope you slip on the ice and break a hip. :)

Good Luck!

Wow - it says that the store here is supposed to get 28 units - too bad I went earlier today and there was already a line (at 2pm) - There was one guy sitting in a chair right outside the main door with a poster board saying Xbox 360 line starts here - Best of luck to all those that will be waiting in line - but my biggest question is how is bestbuy going to get a new shipment on Sunday? None of the carriers (UPS, FEDEX, etc) deliver on Sunday?

 that comment was directed at you ;-) meh, I dunno. if you live in bumblefuck anywhere, chances are there is nothing better to do. either wait for an xbox or get drunk. well, you can do both.

I just wanna play hexic, man, that's ALL I WANT! but since I'm not willing to submit to hypothermia and frostbite, I have to wait until february. it's just not fair :p

I'm going by my BB in a few to spend a giftcard, I wonder if people have started lining up yet....

They probably already have them in. They just aren't selling them until Sunday.

The funny thing is that the Best Buy probably already has them at the store. I work at my local one and I asked when they were supposed to come in and he told me that they were already somewhere in the store, but didn't know where they were. The only thing he did know was that they did come off the truck, and that was yesterday.

My Best Buy has a vault and I was told they kept all the 360s in their until they were put out on the 22nd. What I want to know is after this shipment when is the next supposed to come in?

Good luck to everyone that wants one!

I checked out the situation at the Orange Park Best Buy around 6:30pm when I helped my friend get some networking equipment, and I'm surprised there was already about 20 people there, so that's half of the stock spoken for. The downpour here seriously sucks and isn't supposed to let up until tomorrow afternoon. I only saw one tent. Plus there's a group of three or four under one of those overhead tents in chairs with a tarp over them all. The people in the front of the line were just sitting there in chairs with a coat over them and an umbrella. And in the middle, there was a group of four teenagers huddled under a single regular-sized umbrella.

Boo Hoo, cry me a river. If you're too broke to afford Ebay prices, then get off your ass and wait in line for one. Instead you choose to complain about both. You call those people waiting in line dorks...can you say "hater"?

Don't hate the players, hate the game.

Don't be mad you're gonna have to wait longer than you would like for a 360.

At 4 p.m. today there were 16 people already lined up outside the BB on Route 22 in north jersey. I'm 100% positive it's a mob scene right now. I was going to drive by around midnight but I don't think I'll even bother.

I think MS really screwed up this launch considering there are so many available systems in JPN but none here where they are wanted. I also don't think this is an artificial shortage because they could leak another million consoles right now and they would still sell out so why not just release them if they are already manufactured?

stopped by bb to get some stuff. already about 8 people in line and it's a whopping 14 degrees currently in chicago.

About 25 degress out at 7:00 PM here and there are a couple tents and families outside my BB. I was really excited about this, but there's no fucking way I'm gonna wait 12+ hours in near zero temperatures just to buy a toy. Looks like I'll just keep working on my backlog.

was at Roland Height, CA bestbuy today..at 1PM and there must hae been 20 people inline already some of them have their kids with them.. i was like whoa! :)

Ok here this it's pretty good. I checked BB at about 4:30 and there was about 10 people. Not too bad but here is the kicker. A Truck with 360's was headed to Cranberry,PA and got Hi-Jacked. So all the 360's headed for Cranberry all got stolen. So the Erie,PA store had to ship half of what they are getting to the Cranberry store since every has to have a 20 Min. People at the Erie store who know they were getting 47 are gonna be pissed when they find out they only have 23. I'm glad i'm not one of those people. I'm sure a riot will happen. I'll keep ya updated.

EDIT: Also as of 10:30 pm there are about 45 people in line waiting.

No one in line at my local Best Buy a few hours ago. I went in and talked to my friend that works at BB, and he said that people were in line and had set up tents, but mall security made them leave.
I usually don't frequent fw, but these guys are think they are gonna make a years salary off a console launch.

Fat wallet is CAGs evil twin brother.
BWAHAHA! I HAVE 76 360s COMING IN TODAY! THEY'RE ALL GOING TO FLEABAY! or maybe I'll wait at BB at 9am when people are walking out dejectedly and pray on them when they're most vulnerable!
Thanks to the storm (now with lightning shaped marshmallows!), I called off my campout and instead helped my aforementioned friend set up his home network and reformat his old computer. I also tried out 2-player co-op WLK for the first time and feel that it's a chore compared to having total freedom of mobility when you have sole control of the Katamari.

Well, best wishes to everyone else braving their respective weather situations.

At 9om, stopped by BB to see what's up....with a 360 premium in my trunk from EB Games earlier in the day.

Saw first in line was a former student of mine....he had been #1 on the EB games preorder list, but they had "lost his order!"

As a current Employee of the Month at Gamestop, he had already purchased every launch title and all the accessories.

By the time I left there, the line was already 30 people long, for 38 systems. Headed there now to bring him warm clothes.

Wow this is sad. Premium systems are selling a few hundred extra on eBay right now it seems, but people are waiting twenty hours early just for a systems second batch? F that. I rather spend the extra three hundred then die due to frostbite. Wow.

Looks like buying the bundle off Circuit City was a good deal after all, or any bundle for that matter.

I didn't check my local BB to see if people were lining up, but I'm sure theres quite a few already at the one on the turnpike considering It's one of the most popular BB's in Connecticut.

No, Fat Wallet is an actual company that makes , at our last discussion, at LEAST a million per year, they have actual offices, steady streams of revenue, a bunch of people on the pay roll and CAG has.....just Cheapy and some tech guys and no real ads so no really huge incoming monies.

i was going home from sawtelle and drove by the pico bestbuy here in Los Angeles. I'd say at least 30-40 people there waiting at 1030 at night.

I was at the newington BB today in the afternoon...there were already 4 or 5 guys set up in their winter gear. I'll bet every one was heading to EBAY this morning.

Someday I'll get my premium system for $400 bucks....and happy I will be.
No extra controller, no games I dont way, no ebay fees or scalpers....patience.

I drove by the 2 Best Buys in Wilmington, DE both had about 50 or 60 people waiting in line as of 2am and the tents were up for long winter night. Each site was originally expecting 42 consoles but they got 47 a piece including crappy core systems.

I also drove to Walmart for the heck of it and they said they are not getting anymore 360s till after Christmas. Then I drove to a best buy Springfield, PA where they had a trash can on fire to keep warm and there was at least 50 people there. Looks like I will get the console in 2006. At least there will me more games around by then. Well, off to bed. I look forward to all the cool stories about the invidual pickups.

wow, didn't realize it was such a huge business...

went to best buy around 7-8pm the 17th, in the brownsville, tx location - everyone was clueless, no body outside so I decided to go home since I didn't want to waste my time if they didn't have any.

Decided to go to best buy around 7am after staying up all night, and lo'and'behold a line is there... After everything is said and done I was #38 out of 36 :(

Woe is me

Well I stood out in the weather and sleet and got one from BB.
Ppl were buying the vouchers for 400 each. Yipe I had to see and hear it myself.
