There should be price scanner sections around (I've never seen a TRU without, but I'm willing to bet that there are a few around). With as YMMV as the clearances are now, I'd try to check the price somehow beforehand.. one game may have dropped, but another may have not.
At least at my TRU, they have their price scanners outside of the game section, and you can't leave the game section holding anything or the alarms go off, so if you want to know the price of anything you have to ask. It's annoying. Interestingly, though, they have a bunch of games sitting in the clearance section outside the game section, and those you can scan.

same here BUT none of the workers will check prices. They said the price is what it says on the game. IF you ask for a price check they will say

NO THE PRICE IS WHAT IS ON THE GAME

and it doesnt help to complain to a manager cause they say the same thing.

Sounds like those workers would love for an enterprising CAG to rearrange and distribute their PS2 section among all other console games, eh? ;)

Nothing better than finding PS2 Tomb Raider Legend three cases behind X360 Kameo.

A) Bring a UPC sheet. or;
B) Take them anyway and ignore the sensors. If they won't provide customer service, do it yourself. I set off sensors at a few stores, TRU is one of them, because of something in my wallet I've never quite narrowed down. It's not a big deal, no one even cares, least of all me.
FYI - FF:IV rang up 16.xx at the Omaha TRU.
Yeah, I was there at 10AM on Monday.... :( Don't waste your time going to the Oakview one or Council Bluffs, its the same thing. They didn't drop any. :(

If anyone is really desperate for Street Fighter:AA, I might be able to head back to TRU in the next few days (or at least by this weekend) to grab the rest of the copies they had. I know at least two more were there, also marked at $10.98. I can sell for like $16 shipped. PM me if you're interested.

Just tell them you want to buy it, and if the price comes up more than you thought say you heard it was on clearance but don't want it for the higher price. That's what I would do/have done if I saw on CAG a price drop that isn't shown on the shelf tags. I've found they are much less likely to get upset than if you "bug" them for a price check.

Or just buy it, then return it the next day or so. I've done that, yeah I don't usually like to bother them on pricechecks either unless there happens to be no tag on the item.

Yea, I do this all the time - I get the added joy of making them have to call over a manager to void the transaction, thereby tying up the register, because they wanted to be a dick and not do a simple price check.

I worked retail, a price check takes all of two seconds, and I'd much rather do one of those than have to call for a manager to do a void, which could take around 5 minutes and at that time, other customers are getting pissed.

I ask for a price check first, if they refuse, I tell them I want to buy it, if it comes up cheaper they look stupid and usually get this idiot look on their face, if it comes up the same, well, the joke is still on them.

No offense, but buying something just to get a price check on it sounds like a terrible idea. If the employees can't be bothered to do their jobs, it's not my problem.

Well you can just take the item to the register and when it doesn't ring up the price you want, just say you don't want the item. Usually they don't have problem with that. Mostly I don't have problem with them price checking either....

It's out of your way but don't bother with the Huntington Station one if you're looking for Amped 3. None of the new prices are marked as of yet on the games and they're all out of Amped 3, both on the shelf and behind the counter.

However, there are copies of SFAA though, if that piqued your interest any.

i can confirm that the prices are YMMV. i went to 2 TRU and saw Suikoden V, 1 has it for $14.98, the other $27.98. I did show my receipt and was able to PM the price from the other store, but the lady said she would only do it once. She also did mention that the prices are localized so your TRU may not have the prices shown. anyways, I was able to grab these:

Suikoden V - $14.98
Tales of Phantasia - $6.48
Final Fantasy IV - $6.48
Me & My katamari - $8.48

and 3 GB Micro leather cases for .70 cents ea. There are also a few more games that had probably went down, but like I said YMMV since all stores do not have the same markdowns. I also saw Devil May Cry 3 (non-gh though) for $10. I would have bought it but i wanted the GH since it had extra features.

:bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy: !!

Amped 3, adjusted from $33.98 to $8.48!

Apparently there are two places TRU can pull prices from. I watched the lady look it up on a webpage and told me the right price of $8.48, but a different TRU associate punched numbers off of the receipt into her register and got a price of $33.98. Don't know if this helps, but good luck.

got DS Pac Pix for $6.48 in Twin Cities MN.

Also got PS2 Component Cables for $7 and DS Polaris for $5(from older clearances).

scored again tonight, went to the totowa, nj TRU and found 1 copy of katamari psp for $9.49. they had jade empire for xbx but the stupid scaner didnt work so i didnt bother. also saw Suikoden V there but it was $27.98.

same with the Wayne, NJ TRU also $27.98 (for Suikoden V). oh well. but they still had other old clearances like arc the lad for ps2 for $7.50, suikoden tactics, and metal slug 4 & 5 for xbx for $8.96! didnt grab one though.

but, i managed to grab like 5 of those limited edition DDR supernova/ultramix4 soundtrack sampler discs for .01 each. sweet.

My tru had nothing, really good left.
The best game was pac pix,I passed.
Still too much
Yeah,I'm a cheap bastard

not sure if it's from the past clearance or not, but the TRU I went to had Summon Knight for GBA for $12.48. i'll probably give it another drop before i pick it up.

Picked up amped 3 with all the focus coming from this thread. I have to say the game is pretty awesome, this would be worth a $20-30 purchase even but its great at less than 10.

Did you have Suikoden V scanned? I bought one at 14.98 at either Wayne or East Hanover, cant remember which. Wherever I got it from had a handful of copies though.

Also, wtf is the deal with them fighting you on price checks lately. Do they NOT want me to shop there? I love their face when they refuse to price check it, and then when I offer to buy it, it rings up well below the tagged price.

I saw this as well - I'm pretty sure it is this same drop, just not common or noticed by other CAG's ;). I was going to mention it but it didn't seem worthwhile but since you brought it up I figured I'd confirm it.

It was $7.98 at Fred Meyer a few months ago (too bad I bought it for $30 at EB :bomb:).

I couldn't find Amped 3 at the one store I checked out. Didn't someone claim they could look up other store's inventory? I asked and the guy said no way no how could he do that (of course, he could have offered to call the closest store and didn't). He did price check stuff for me with no hassle though ;).

Yeah im sure the one in Wayne had it for 28 cause the guy there was very helpful. He tried to find Me and My katamari for awhile but no luck. i might go back there to have them call east hanover (dunno if i wanna drive that far)

It depends. If that game is out of that store's inventory, you can't look it up without the SKN #. And you need the SKN # to search another store's inventory.

Yo, I got suikoden tactics for 10 bucks there today. Its still goin on somewhat, there were a few xbox 360 games on sale and a few useless ds and gba games.

my local TRU still have AMP 3 (XBOX 360) or Me & my Katamari (PSP). If anyone wanted you can get sealed Suikoden 5 for trade. (1 for 1 trade).

picked up suikoden V for 13.98. they also had tales of legendia for i think 13.98 and suikoden tactics for 10, and i was close to picking those up, but decided not to. dont recall seeing anything else on that list....

Picked up PDZ:LE today for $12.98. Nothing else on this list was available.

I loved the look on the cashiers face as I asked for a price check and it came out to only $12.98. Her jaw almost dropped. Funny shit.

cool, my local TRU has had almost 20 copies of pac-pix sitting around at the $20 point forever and i've been waiting for them to finally drop to something reasonable

Picked up pac pix for $6.48, Zoo Keeper for $4, Kinetics for $17, and Amped 3 for $8.48.
Tried to get another Pac Pix (bought the last one) at another TRU which had it for $13. I tried to get it price matched (even showed the lady the reciept from the other TRU 30 minutes ago) but she wouldn't let me. :wall:
My Girlfriend and I both thank you OP.

I went to one of the TRU in Knoxville, TN today. They had about 10 copies of SFA:A, but they rang up as $20.98. However, Suikioden V rang up as $15.98.

picked up pac-pix and a copy of lumines that must've been hiding from one of the older clearances at the asheville, nc TRU. they still had 1 or 2 of each and at least 4 copies of gunstar super heroes left.

also met a girl there that might be a CAG, she said she was on her way to kmart and eb afterwards

Damn I wish my TRU had Pac-Pix. That was the only game I really wanted to get from this clearance, but no luck on that.

Thanks OP! Picked up Pac-Pix for $6.48, which will be worth it.

The Gunstar Super Heroes they had were all of the front lane versions, and all were priced at $9.99, unfortunately. Meh. Big deal...I already own that one.

Me and My Katamari was marked at $19.99, but I didn't have them scan it.

Also, all the $.60 and $.70 GBMicro accessories that were there before are now gone. Destroyed, they tell me.

Reports from two S.C. area locations.

The Greenville, SC TRU was pretty much cleaned out. Was looking for Amped 3 and Gunstar GBA but I could find neither. They did still have FFIV though, but I didn't want it.

The Anderson store on the other hand was well stocked with good clearance games. I picked up Amped for the $8 price (was marked $33) and there was still one copy left. They also had Gun and PDO as well still un-marked in the 360 section, although I already have those games. I also picked up a couple of PSP games for $13 each. They still had a ton of cheap PSP and GBA games, amongst others. They were in a special wall section close to the counter and lock-ups in the front. The lady that checked me out was very good about doing price checks for me and I tried to be very appreciative. No Gunstar, though.

you should have.. most have luck with it. i've been able to check it at 3 locations for different prices, but closer to each other nonetheless. $8.98, $9.49 and $9.99. go back before its gone :)

To satisfy my curiosity regarding this, I went back today after church (this particular TRU is only 2 miles away from my church, so I didn't make a special trip or anything). Marked price: $19.99. Scanned price: $16.98.

Now, I haven't even played the original Katamari Damarcy or whatever it is, and I understand that the MAMK game is substandard due to the limited controls provided by the PSP. But still, had it been in the neighborhood of what I paid for Pac-Pix $6.48 plus tax), I'd have picked it up.

They also had Drill Dozer for the GBA for $9.99, if anyone cares.

On a side note, none of the front lane Gunstar Super Heroes have sold at $9.99 since yesterday, which is a shame. Worth far more than that, IMHO.

Well, the controls are strange, it's true. And it's funny, because it really doesn't have anything to do with the PSP hardware, as far as I can tell. They could have easily used a different control scheme. Still, it's a great game and it's not *that* hard to get used to the controls.
