SoulCalibur IV - (10.17.08) - Vader/Yoda DLC set to release on 10/23 [400 points]

Well, at this point I'm just hoping the PS3 version doesn't suffer from any sub-360 graphics and that online goes smoothly. I've heard a few early adopters on the 360 say the lag can be really bad. Hopefully by launch (or shortly after) they sort things out.

Yeah, and in the video there is one point where Vader's head is following Yoda from up to down....very convincing. I doubt that a fake would've been so thorough.

yea that's one of the worst parts about buying it at launch; not knowing which system it will be best on. I'm buying it for both then im going to watch Beyond3D's "
Neverending Upscaling/Resolutions/AA etc Thread #3 and Frame Rate Analysis Thread. Im guessing XBL will have the best online since PS3 is using P2P too and XBL has the best matchmaking in the industry atm; but Namco might surprise us so who knows.
 
Oh poor Darth Vader. He was getting whooped by Yoda. Now we know what would had happened had he come out of hiding in the movie. I hope there is exclusive dlc for the ps3 then like Kratos. I still see people asking how Kratos fights when he is not even in the game.

I got the strategy guide. Its pretty funny how darth vader came in. Darth Vader sensed a disturbance and found a dimensional rift and so came into another dimension. Then he sensed the presence of the soul swords. He wants to acquire them to truly be the lord of the universe. Yoda went after Vader and the apprentice went in first to investigate. Angol fear has the oddest of stories. Its a pity the guide doesn't have pictures of the cas stuff but it brings enough content to satisfy.
 
The real question isn't when it was going to happen. The real question is how much is it going to cost. I'd wager that Bandai Namco charges at least $5 for Yoda/Vader.

Actually, I've heard either up to 100, or as many as your hard drive will allow. Either way, I'm happy. :)
 
I'm pretty sure I'm getting the PS3 version. If only because Futureshop is giving away a Soul Calibur 4 Skin for the PS3 with it. And, the 360 version comes with a hat that says "PWN3GE". LOL.
I don't really mind paying $60 for it.

supposedly it's SCII outfits for all main characters, but nothing is confirmed. SCII outfits are going to be DLC pretty soon, but nobody knows if it's for the LE or not.
 
Good on Vader. V, VI Yoda is cool, but that prequels Yoda in the game needs to GO. And none of my friends are getting the PS3 version, so bring me Vader... even if he does use that lightsaber like a baseball bat half the time.

That Vader outta the ring throw ala chucking the Emperor into the core is priceless!

I expect this game to have a lot of DLC, not exclusive in any way, for both platforms, whether it be characters, costumes, stages, etc. Everything is going to be put out via DLC, and it could possibly put the game at over $200 after all the DLC.

That kinda scares me. It could end up like Katamari, where there wasn't that much so I didn't feel bad....or it could end up like AC6

I have a feeling they're going for another...what's that japanese game with lolis that sold millions in DLC? That one, they wanna recreate it elsewhere.
 
yeah, but stuff like that is probably not gonna fly outside of Japan. Did AC6 work out for them? Not to mention there's been worse....those unlock keys in the EA games come to mind.

They said the upcoming DLC will range free~$15, correct? I sure hope the costume packs aren't on the high end of that.
 
how do you preform a Critical Finish I -press all the button when their in red nothing happens, and what are the style levels for ?

If I'm not mistaken, you need them in the red, but you also must have broken off a piece of their armor. From the videos, it looks like you just need one more hit on a block after those conditions are met,and time slows down for you to input the Crit Finish.
 
I had a question about Tower of Lost Souls. I see there are like 60 levels to it. What happens when you lose a fight? Do you have to start all over again from level 1 or can you just start off from the last level you beat?

For critical finish all you need to do is have their soul gauge flashing red... then when you attack them (special moves do this better, not strings), if they block, they should be guard crushed/pushed back.

Just input A+B+K+G and you'll critical finish them. You have a lot of time. About 120 or so frames to input.

DLC seems so cheap. I'd understand if they were adding this stuff a year after, but it's as if they're making you pay for stuff that should have been in the game in the first place. Total crap.
 
I am so excited! Even if the online is shit the CAS will keep me plenty busy. I love me some dress-up. Looks like I'll be able to remake my Final Fantasy fighters from SCIII but more accurate hopefully. That Altair is really cool.

If they could have $100+ of DLC in AC6 and lots of it in Idolmaster, they will most likely have tons in SCIV, in order to nickel and dime everyone.
