SoulCalibur IV - (10.17.08) - Vader/Yoda DLC set to release on 10/23 [400 points]

I'll try, but I really suck. Will there be a round-robin round?

I have a question about the Tower levels that require an attack throw. What is the easiest way to do an attack throw (not A/B+G).

Siegfried's 1+B is pretty good and is what I used. I love easy ring outs with that move. :D

I just played a guy online who just stood there and mashed A the whole time... It was kind of funny. I'd move away, and he'd slowly walk towards me swinging his sword.

I had a guy who just verticaled on me last night. Sidestep and move in, one of my easiest matches. And he was a lvl 18 with a 60%+ ratio. I was wondering how he go so far just using that. It could have been a friend playing on his account though, but hey, I wouldnt let my friends play a ranked game on my acct -_-

So I played Cassie for about an hour today in different modes and am loving her. So much fun.

So how are all you CAS freaks getting all your gold?

Is anyone else really bummed that we can't make characters that use the guests' weapons?

Man online sucks. First it takes me like 50 tries of "session is full" to finally get a ranked match going. Then once i get a match, all these guys do is little bitch moves over and over. Its really annoying. Not one bit fun.

I always have the "session full" message, so I just create my own session. The longest I've had to wait for someone to join is about 30 seconds.
I agree, Ranked Matches are a pain in the ass with all of the mashers who spam moves to win. The easiest way I've figured to beat them is to just use low attacks. For some reason they just cannot figure how to block low. There's nothing as satisfying as beating some scrub online with my Kylie Minogue CAS (Who has Cassandra's weapon) by attacking low.

I noticed that the dark knight cape gives you extra health. I gave it to Maxi and now he has full health and a small percentage of blue too. Are there any other clothing items to up someones health?

Also i think the max character level is 20. But what does each level do? Does it make them stronger, or what?

I don't think lvl 20 makes them stronger, though it is required for one of the honors I believe...oh and it probably tells others you like SCO a bit much (j/k)

Isnt the max level 9? And its so your char can use higher level bonus feats, or whatever you call them. Like the HP Drain, or Auto Impact, etc.

Go down in the tower, usually nets some change when you get down pretty deep, but ive only made it to the 16th floor so far, tomorrow, ill hit 20 i know

As for guest weapons, yes, I was very disappointed to learn that Shura used Cervantes move set and then you couldnt use her katanas, it feels like they have ab it of a longer reach than cervies weps, could just be me though.

I have that happen all the time. I try to do some combos but all they do is just one or 2 moves over and over. Dont know why but I just cant get away from them when they do this stuff. I have lost almost 40 times and only one about 6. I'm also not that good but still I just see one or maybe 2 attacks. Gets old.

I have fun some times but not much. I think they should have made it match you with someone of the same level or winning %. I'm at level 4 and have played people in the 20s+ or with 70% wins and I have less then 15% wins.

Also I was called a bitch and a $$$ today. I tend to use the apprentice online seeing how I know more of his combos then I do the others. So in one game i did the lighting attack and only one person stayed in it for every hit. They ended up calling me a $$$. Then I end up playing someone that was also playing the apprentice. I tended to use what combos I remember and could do. It was mostly the force combos. I ended up winning and get a message. I'm thinking it might be good match or a friend request. No it was them saying "WAY TO PLAY LIKE A BITCH." Now I do not see the point in this at all.

I know people don't like when someone uses the apprentice however they used him also. I wasn't button mashing and never did the same move over and over. I did however try a combo atleast 3 times. If it didn't work I tried some other move that i remembered. I may or may have not went back to the other one that I tried. Point is I did try to mix things up. So is playing as the apprentice and trying to mix up combos and using the force powers when able to playing like a "bitch"?

Lately, it seems like the guys Im getting matched with, who have super high ratios, like 100/15, quit when I enter their room. At first I thought they just turned off their system or quit playing, but they're still on playing online 5 minuetes later =P Anyone else running into boosters lately?

It's insanely easy to beat those people. I'm not saying this to offend you, since we all started somewhere, but they do those tactics because they work on scrubs. Use your 8-way run, learn your character's range, notice the recovery time of the attacks, etc.

I won't go that far in the tournament, but hey, it gives me something to do.

Someone thought they were gonna be cheap with Hilde and I got all in that ass with Shura. Good times. He was talking trash all on the mic "Oh I know what you're on."
I am just starting to learn basically. If anyone wants to do practice matches PM me or send me a PSN message.
You sent me an invite once. Unfortunately I was already in a game with someone. I wasn't being rude or anything lol.

Yeah I figured. I just wanted to let you know I am interested in playing online.

I still dont get how to do a critical finish. Someone told me that all 3 armor pieces have to be broken off to do it. Is that true? Also when i get the persons soul gage flashing red, and i try to hit LB for the move he keeps saying "Not yet". Is there a move i need to do before hitting it? And if there is can someone tell me what it is in XBox 360 control language?

I'm 3rd in line on Goozex for the regular edition and 2nd in line for the Premium edition. If I happen to get the game before the tournament starts I'll play.

When their bar is flashing red it means it's almost time. Shortly after if they try and block too often you'll hear a loud shattering noise, and your opponent will reel back. Just hit all the face buttons ASAP.

Only once piece of armor needs to be broken. The enemy has to guard against a strong attack or GI and then you can hit LB. Your soul gage may have to be maxed as well.

As that earlier video stated, you dont need a max soul gauge, yours could be empty too. THe thing is, you usually gain more if you keep on constantly attacking though ;)

100 soul crushes..... what does this mean in english? I read somewhere that soul crushes were when you get the first hit. But that cant be because i must have over 100 of those.

I would think that mean crushing all of their soul...which probably means destroying their soul gauge to the point of a critical finish.

I bump into some people who use the same moves over and over online... and aganist my Talim, if it's someone like Raphel, I actually have a hard time getting in and hitting them. However, if it's Seig or Kilik, then it's easy breezy.

I'd suggest just... not using the quick game option. Just click custom match, and click on connections that look good. Sometimes it takes a good amount of tries, but nothing to get too frustrated with.

I've had some pretty decent matches on Xbox360, personally. People who have strong keep-away games, know their moves, and fight properly. I've actually bumped into very few 100% scrubs online.

The most annoying thing to me is that every Seig starts off with his stab, and if, for some reason, they hit, they RUN across the screen and attempt a throw. I must have seen it like... 14 times in one night or something. And then you have the slight variation, where they do his sidestepping B, and then attempt the same thing. At least I could see using the Flapjack instead being used in a decent mindgame, rushing in and going for the low throw, alternating with the high... yet, no one does the flapjack, just the same "smash you over the head twice" throw.

They can even be good players, but they still seem to ALL do that! XD

2 notes: I love Talim again (she seemed... meh in 3, to me), and Cervantes is awesome in this game, lol. Even in I rarely can land a Storm Generate anymore, thanks to his high CH uppercut... but that "reverse dragon punch sliding kick into gunshot" move is classy, so that makes up for it!

Getting in with Talim is usually an exercise in pain. I can't 1G moves online (Or they come out at awkward times) so I usually get smacked across the stage by button mashing Sieg players. And it seems everyone wants to use a character with a long weapon.

I'm liking the game, just not online.

I tried to bring Amy and Cassie into online and it's not fun at all. Considering that a lot of Cassie combos end with 4BB:A, umm, no.

So I was like, hmmm, which characters do I know have really spammable attacks? I picked Setsuka. 33B all day, I've won entire matches using just that move. Then when they get smart, add in 2A+B, 11A, and rinse with more 33B. It's also amazing how lag turns 33B 66BA into 33B 8B. I can't sidestep and punish anything, so it really does become a spam battle.

I've noticed there are a LOT of JFs in this game now, and how to do certain ones really escapes me. Amy's 6:6B and Setsuka's 214~3b:A is like... what? My hands also hurt from trying do Setsuka's 1B:B 214~3B:B 214~3b:A. 3 JFs in one combo is mind numbing.

Uh lol.

T6 death combos take skill and are very situational (rage/wall distance/character size). How can WS B~G repeat over and over remind you of that? One is brainless the other occurs based on a player's skill.

WS B over and over is too easy.

So yea, Ivy is my main now.

Word.

I'm not offended. I guess you could say I'm still a scrub. I need to learn the combos and different things still. I'm just sick of all the one hit wonders out there that use the one attack over and over and over. Now that I think about it I shouldn't say that I'm a scrub. To me the scrubs are the ones that do this.

Ivy Infinite...alas

Reminds me of the bad ol' days when people discovered raged death combos were a dime a dozen when T6 first dropped.
Well thats going to be nice once people start doing that online.

I don't know what you just said kid but your special. Everytime I read the terms JF, 6:6B I have no clue what people are talking about.

I'm also now seeing people using lower attacks and staying on the ground. I played against someone using the lizard guy and all he did was stay on the ground. I had to use low attacks and it was about as bad as playing against yoda. I know I wont have the issues when I get better but damn people are cheap and get pissed when someone actually tries to play with out being cheap.

Hey everyone, I just started playing SC4 online, PSN meSchnitzel. I've been playing SC since the Dreamcast, and I have to say that I find Vader to be pretty balanced.
The apprentice is fast and cheap, but Vader seems right in line with other fighting styles and power in the game.

I took a good couple days to learn Vader and get him through story on easy and hard, and then arcade, and I would say that I kept about a 50% win ratio, based on the skill of the other player. And I have to say that it is pretty fun playing with his force moves, as anyone else I have played against usually just spams triangle.

Hell I love this game, I hope the LE stuff becomes available on PSN soon.

Nah, it's more along the lines of once one bad thing was discovered, the floodgates opened to more stupid stuff being found. That's not the case yet but it's possible.

Well in T6, it's at least consistent as every character can do big damage. In SC IV you can't say the same, yet at least.

So far SC IV is more balanced than SC III, but I think the only reason for that is because they nerfed almost every good move from before.

*uses ivy*

Ivy doesn't even need WS B infinite, her normal SWD WS B can lead to like 90-100 damage as is.

+ she has the best unblockable in the game now.

wow... I played online again... man is it sad to watch how people play. Nobody seems like they want to learn to do more than 2 moves... sad. it makes me depressed >_>

Yea, I watched my friend play online when I went to his house... People are really starting to PLAY TO WIN AT ANY COST online now lol. Looks so annoying with lag.

without lag it's more sad because at least with lag you think it's messing them up, so you can give them credit... but then you see them with no lag and it makes babies cry.

I would use more than 2 moves but all my followups are weird.

Example with Setsuka:
If I hit 33B, I would go straight to my combo of bA 33B. I can't do that online, because the bA will come out way late. I can't even connect 66BA consistently. So I what I do, I follow up with another 33B and go straight to oki with 11A, 2A+B, 33B and throws.

I can't sidestep BB chains because it comes out too slow. Although I'm pretty sure blocked BB is negative frames, I can't do anything back because of lag. The only thing I can hope for is backdashing and using high speed high range moves like 66BA and 33B. GI, forget about it.

So you can imagine; online, the game is really limited and becomes a game of who can spam ranged attacks fast. It's why Kilik and Mitsu are so good online, they have tremendous range and fast attacks to go along with them. It really feels like it's missing half the game.

Did anyone buy the soundtrack pack? Or even better, did anyone just buy a few individual tracks? I'm wondering how the alternate soundtrack setup works. Assuming they release SC2 and 3 packs later on, it would be cool if you could put together a greatest-hits-style custom soundtrack.

I can usually handle spammers online, but I can't fucking stand it when the game is lagging horribly and they use the same move over and over again. The only thing I can do is block it indefinitely, because if I try anything else, my move takes like 2 seconds to actually come out, and I've been hit by then.

I'm encountering more quitters every day now. Its not just boosters with 100W 10L records, but increasingly with average 25W 25L records too.

Are they quitting mid-match or at the pre-match screen? I'm just glad that I've been pretty lucky with not encountering that many disconnectors.
