SoulCalibur IV - (10.17.08) - Vader/Yoda DLC set to release on 10/23 [400 points]
Did anyone buy the soundtrack pack? Or even better, did anyone just buy a few individual tracks? I'm wondering how the alternate soundtrack setup works. Assuming they release SC2 and 3 packs later on, it would be cool if you could put together a greatest-hits-style custom soundtrack.
It's tempting, but I have all the SC soundtracks on my computer aside from SC2
Are they quitting mid-match or at the pre-match screen? I'm just glad that I've been pretty lucky with not encountering that many disconnectors.
Im getting a handful of both. I'd rather them quit pre match, but I just got 3 quitters in a row quitting mid-match. It varies too, I just fought a guy and we both had 2 wins, I got him down to about 33% hp, myself at 90%, and he quits. Or you just have your "about to lose 3 rounds in a row" people too. Come on, if your record isnt honestly earned, why even play? I wonder if they do get a L on their records, since I've notced that I dont get a W.

I think that people who are disconnected on should get a win on their record. Theoretically, the other person disconnected because they were going to lose (Unless it was an actual connection error, but that's pretty rare), so the disconnectee should theoretically get the win. If for some reason it's an actual connection error, well, I guess it's only one loss, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal.
As it stands the only punishment to disconnectors is a point penalty, but no loss added to the user's record. I could be wrong. Could anyone confirm/correct?

I had someone disconnect on me once that I almost got the achievement for knocking off all of their armor and the one for 2 wins in arow on live. I had one more hit till I had won.

Online is starting to get old. Like someone else said online is getting bad now. I run into the same fighters over and over. Then all they do is spam one or 2 moves. I played someone that used The Apprentice that actually to me knew how to use him. It was not the same move over and over and I didn't mind getting my ass kicked. However the next guy that used him only did one move once he was able to do it.

Also I don't know if it is the lag or the stick i'm using but I will try to move around and it is just so slow or does not even move at all. I'm using the ex2(i think that is it) stick. Do the sticks tend to go out and not respond well? I would think it is my playing yet it is all the time online and not that often in single player but it does happen at times.

Nah, if you're in a connection below 4 or 5, you're screwed. Just play with friends online. You won't know frustration until you play DRO with lag and eat Lili flipkicks all day long.

Maxi is awesome, but i hate when he gets into that mode where he likes to flip the nunchucks around. If he does that and the enemy side steps then im a sitting duck looking in the wrong direction, and its damn hard to get him to look the other way before getting hit. Most of the time i die because he is looking the wrong direction and someone Ring Out's me.

Any tips on going against Voldo in room 32? I can get to him with full power, and then he just blocks everything, and kills me. Its such bullshit, i cant stand this.

EDIT.....:bomb::bomb::bomb: Wow so i got to level 32 again against voldo full power. Then i creamed his ass. One guy left to beat, so i start kicking his ass, and when i got his life down to a sliver, he goes fucking invincible on my ass and kills me. What a fucking joke.

I just played a special ranked match and saw that they had 50% move health and had the blue over half of their bar. I know you can do this in CAS and is only used in single player and in a special online game. I was just wondering what you had to do to get this in the CAS. Everyone that I make has less then a full bar of health or at best a full bar.

I think the dark knight cape gives you more power. I would really like to know what items give more power too. It would make tower of souls a little bit easier.

EDIT...actually i took off the cape and he had more blue power. So i dont really know what gives a person more power.

When in character creation mode, on the right hand side, you can see what kind of effect an item has (Which again only matters in Story, ToS, VS Special and Online Special). And depending on how many points you were allotted in the 5 categories, you can pick different skills for you character (HP Drain is one of the best). Oh and you're best making your character an armored beast if you want to survive any modes with the Special effects on.

Otherwise you may end up with a character with below 100% health and all that fun jazz.

Oh and barely a week into the game's release and most in my community has dropped the game. I need to move to Texas.

Well level 32 is impossible. Even with a maxi with 195% health + an A rated HP gainer , and i get to the last guy with at least a full bar or more of health left. He blocks everything, and gets these unguardable combos on you, and you have no chance. Its really pissing my off to no end. Since the tower of souls is like the only thing i have left to do. If this is one of those games that are made for experts to complete only then i mise well trade this shit in. Its really a shame too, i want to like this game, but it seems like when i want to play it, there really is nothing to do. I can only go through story mode on medium or hard so many times. Online sucks. And Tower of souls are for experts only.

EDIT: Just tried level 32 again, and i had full health when i got to the last guy, 195% full. Things were going well till he hit me off the platform for a ring out. SERIOUSLY!!! :(

I'm totally skipping the Tower, as all I've heard is that it's super frustrating, and since I already have 29 honors (And am about to get the 30th), I'll get all of the CAS parts. Is there anything unlocked exclusively in the tower? I don't want to be missing any stages.
I know it may sound odd, but I've also started writing messages to people online whom I've either had good matches with or people who have cool CAS's. Since a good and non-asshole player is a rarity, I feel like they should be acknowledged.

A few things that can help you with stance punishers for Maxi!

1. Guard. Its kinda slow to break the stance a bunch of times but it can knock your opponent off balance if you do it midstring to break the dancy stuff and then enter with a quick poke.

2. Wavering light! Do this, do it alot. (B+K during any stance except the regular one I think). Does an auto guard impact dealie for the duration of its purple glow, and when that hits you do the B,B,A move and when they flip over and your back is facing them finish them off mid flight with a B+K flashy turnaround attack.

3. Soul loop 3...or something. During any stance dancing animation, you can press and hold A+K and Maxi will go into an animation that auto guard impacts when the enemy hits you, leaving them open for punishment after. Just be careful with the timing window for their vulnerability after the impact.

You can utilize these to interrupt the long strings that Maxi has to keep your opponent on their toes, or to catch anyone trying to catch you in some of the longer animations.

There's also a whole bunch of fakes that are really useful, in particular the ones after or during some of the charge attacks, but I can't remember them off the top of my head and they can get pretty complicated.

There you go!

Well i finally made it past level 32. I made a new maxi with 200% health, and better offense/defense. I got to the last guy with 200% life left, and barely beat him.

It kind of annoys me that after i do a throw, i have to wait for maxi to finish his nunchuck animation for me to go for another move. If i do it too soon, it wont work. I like to do the Down, Forward X move to spin the nunchuck under the opponents feet.

I tried the next level 33-35 and lost.

I found 46 to be the biggest pain. Had to Critical Finish them both since they block heavily and have a gigantic supply of HP.

So in CAS the first part that asks about if you attack alot, defend alot, have heavy armor or lite armor; is that point less? I thought it might have something to do with the extra health on the health bar.

What you select will make the character have those attributes from items. For instance if you choose Maximum HP the auto generated character will have 200% or as much HP as possible from different item/weapon combinations, almost disregarding the other 2. If you choose Attack Focus, attack will be the main focus but it won't try to go as far as 200% and will try to keep a balance of HP and Defence. I found that it works okay but for making your own super characters you should do it yourself to find the right balance.
So in CAS the first part that asks about if you attack alot, defend alot, have heavy armor or lite armor; is that point less? I thought it might have something to do with the extra health on the health bar.
The first part that ask questions, leads to the kind of clothing, weapon, and items you get put onto the randomly generated character.

Also, when choosing if your character is good, evil, or neutral, that seriously matters with the "alignment" special skill. Since it boost stats VS people of opposite alignment, it means you could make a high ATK character with an opposing alignment to another, and totally DESTROY your opponents in just a few hits.

When putting on items, pay attention to the numbers at the right. Of those 3 red bars, the top is Atk %, 2nd Defense %, 3rd HP%. Each item adds or subtracts from these %s. Of course, Achieving 200% in any of these starts means you'll have twice as much of these stats as a normal character in the game. So combine something like 200% ATK with Alignment, Appeal (does more damage VS opposite sex characters, less against same sex), or skills like Hyper Mode or, what's it called, something like Start Boost (lets you begin matches with increased Stats)... combine skills like that, and you'll be overwhelmingly powerful!

And of course, make sure to change your weapons if you need to. Soul Calibur/Edges generally give the highest ATK, and Joke weapons seem to have much lower ATK, but give high HP.

I'm annoyed at the tower because I have to make some really ugly and busted modifications to my characters just so that they can have high stats -_-;

My Amy looks kinda cool though and Cassie is just Valkyrie'd out with the Goddess set, but my Setsuka is uh... um... yeah. And armor breaks are kinda whack too, they just remove your custom armor instead of damaging it like the normal costume.

236:B.

Yeah, making good looking customs for TOLS can be hard. That's why I've replicated some of mine (You can copy and past them!) to make "tower viable" versions with armor and monacles and such, and "public consumption" versions that actually look cool / like their inspirations. My Tower Mitsuru (Persona 3) has odd armor and a Monacle, my online Mitsuru has no oddball frills, and just looks about like herself.
haha 66B for asty is hella nerfed.

lost priority AND it doesnt hit crouching opponents.

that shit is supposed to be MID man
yeah, first char I played when opening the game was Asty and the first move I did was 66B and I immediately was like "WTF????!!"!??!?!"!"!""!?!!?

i like how setsuka's natural combo 1A:A:A, the last A is a guard break. but it doesn't come out if they guard the second hit.

um. alright. a guard break that only comes out when they get hit by the two hits before that...

i really really really really really like ashlotte's backthrow.
i really really really really really like ashlotte's backthrow.
Looks even more painful when Astaroth does it.

Funny bit with Ashlotte is the invisible arm extension on the B throw.

Total shot in the dark here, but is anyone with the PS3 LE DLC willing to share it (If possible)? I have Beats(The PSP PSN game) and the SC4 DLC pack that was just released.
I just made it to floors 36-38. I got to level 38, but ran out of time. The opponents dont seem that hard, its just that time is not on your side.
level 40 and beyond is the bitch.

Im wonder, how would you know what alignment people are? When playing people online, is there really a way to tell, since they just choose their character and it jumps to a fight screen.

I think the only way you could tell is if people make characters that obviously look good or evil. I try to do that with mine; good guys will be marked good, evil people of games and all marked evil. But I don't think there is any real way to tell, such as a bar or icon, unfortunately.

So, I'm murdering this guy in a match and just when the first round is over and I get an honor he disconnects. As if that wasn't enough, he then ims me on psn to tell me that I'm a cheap asshole.

lol wth?
