Spikeout Battle Street to be rare?

That is so crazy I was really doubting the OP with the title of this post, but now I am starting to see it might be coming true. Untill yesterday it was the #1 Xbox seller at EB and now the dont have it online. Just Crazy.

Thank god I pre-ordered my copy, I've never doubted teamxbox when it comes to news, and this shows. I actually pre-ordered two copies just incase a situation like this would happen, and so far It's happenin'. Ebay has a whopping two copies up for bid, and it seems it will already be going for $40 + S&H, and most people are already asking around for it. I guess I'll check my local B&M EBs to see how many copies they have left, but I heard most stores were only getting two copies.

You people are all worrying for nothing. It was said that it would be EBgames exclusive for a short time, and in small quantity, for a test run. Then Sega would release it everywhere later, in quantities determined by how fast the inital run sold.

This is actually a smart move by Sega. They'll avoid having excess stock this way.

Maybe it would be rare. Check out what they said in the 1up.com review:

"But when the first five minutes of a game is nearly identical to the last five minutes, it's easy to see why Sega made such limited numbers of an obviously arcade-born game. One can practically hear the quarters clinking."
i caved in and put mine on ebay after about an hour of playing...hoping to make a bit of a profit then rebuy it later on (if there is a later on!)
You didn't like the game?...

actually, i loved it.

the prospect of putting it on ebay and *possibly* getting double what i paid for it, then re-buying it in a few weeks, was too tempting

im so overloaded with games right now that i havent had a chance to 'really' spend quality time with the game...so perhaps by the time its available everywhere i will get to play it for real instead of just trying out the first level and some online play

Bleh. Jeff's reviews are usually never spot on, the game deserves a 7 at the very least unless you hate brawlers in general.

I plan on selling my sealed copy on eBay soon since It's already going for $52 in one auction, and hope I can get even more so I can get near double what I paid, while using my used copy to the fullest extent.

I picked this up today. I hear it's not too bad and I have been wanting it so I bought it. Not too expensive so it wasn't too bad and I hear later on it will be rare, so I'm happy I picked one up now.

Stopped by EB today to pick up my copy and the clerk told me that I was the only person to preorder a copy. He also said that they weren't going to get anymore copies.
It wasn't Working Design's fault, Bernie Stolar treated them like crap, didn't think much of them because their games weren't "mainstream", and announced that the Saturn was not Sega's future right before Working Designs was going to release a couple of games, they ended up being the last games they made for the Saturn.

Bernie Stolar did a lot of damage while he ran Sega, losing Working Designs was one of them.
I find it ironic that he went on to work for Sony if I recall correctly. He pulled the same crap there and Sony takes off.

well its a good thing i didnt buy it
If you are going to put much faith in Gamespots reviews it 's not right. They downplay every game. If you look at review from other sites they are ALWAYS given a better score somewhere else.
I knwow when you own an Xbox you look for graphix first and everything else is second, but what people dont understand about the game is it was origialy and arcade game, and it still is at heart. It pretty much a next gen Dreancast game. One of the reasons I like the Dreamcast. Arcade games.

Spikeout is well over five years old so it was pretty much a niche title to begin with. I love it because it has a solid beat em up engine that is challenging enough to force me to take every battle seriously.

soooo nobody knows what the real deal is with the game.
Will it be available at toher retailers?
I hear it is good I just want to know if I should keep it or buy it somewhere else.

I have check everywhere else and the have past dew dates for the release, and EB has it back ordered. If you are looking to make some money off of it try ebay there is one for $91 and $152 both sealed. I would hate to have to be the one bid that and then they rerelease it. But it is an awsome game on and of LIVE.

Just called my brother at work, they had two.. one sealed, one not. He picked both copies up.. not hoarding, one's for me and one's for him.. I dunno if I'll open mine though, $152 sealed? good god..

$152! I guess I should have picked up both copies that I had reserved. I'm guessing they've probably gutted the second copy now though since it would be their only copy.

Edit: Looks like there are quite a few copies on there with no bids for around $30 still though. It's very likely that eBay will be flooded with these in the next couple of days when people see those $152 & $91 prices. Probably not a safe bet to try and make money on these right now.

Well u can always close the auction with 12 hours left and lose a whopping 25 cents.

Im putting my sealed one on eBay as of right now.

i called eb friday afternoon, they had a copy. I went and got it and put it on Ebay for
$70 bin and someone just bought it. Now i can buy Minna No Golf and i'm happy.

yeah, i wouldnt put my bets on this game pulling in much more than 30-40 now

those two auctions were kinda wack, it was one guy that bid both of them up to almost 100...azndragon_n or something...mustve really wanted the game

i mean, there are ones taht end in 7 hours that have a starting bid of 35 on them and they arent even bid on yet....or the ones with BIN for 50 arent bought up either

i got 51 for mine, but that was a few days ago when there were only 4 listed on ebay...now it looks like everyone is trying to make a quick dime...and from the looks of things, its not going to happen

unless you like making a quick 5 dollar or less profit, i dont think this is the game to buy in hopes of selling on ebay

Yeah there was like 8 max on ebay, now theres 40. I doubt any of them is going to go over $40, and I'm probably gonna pull the plug on my auction and hold off a little while longer.

I just scored a copy at EB too. Only one in the store. I'm debating whether to ebay it now and pick it up later when it's in wider release or keep it and play it now.

i dont look for graphics ever since i decided to pick up starcraft, but other than that, gamespot is where i look for my template, when im buying a game i want everything thats bad, wighed against everything thats good, i then check user reviews, other websites reviews, and if ive made up my mind, i buy it, or i rent it, then wait for the price to be lowered, or if it has no replay value, i cherish the memory

I pulled the plug on my ebay copy, Iwatched five auctions yesterday and only one went over $40, and two of them didn't even reach $30.

I have been watching it. There was just a major overflow of them. I am sure in about 6 months if there are no more you will have a better chance at getting more money. I guess the idots who paid $91 and $152 just had the money. There were a few for Buy it Now for $45-$55.

Will this game be released in Japan and Europe? I could see how International Xbox collectors may have an interest in this game if it isn't in release in their region.

Ok, is this game coming out on other retail sites/stores for sale, other then EB? Its looks good but I a cheapass and I don't want to pay $33 w/tax.

It had been unavailable, but recently popped back up on ebgames.
Additionally, J&R Music World has it listed now
And Amazon has a preorder ship date of 4/18.
I also emailed Sega specifically about whether it would be available at places other than ebgames and I was told to "check [my] local game stores"
Which leads to believe ebgames had a brief window of exclusivity, and once others start carrying the game (coupled with the low scores), the price should drop
This game is not rare I could get myself three copys anytime easily.
Well duh, it's been reprinted.. it WAS rare.. now it's not..

Im talking about before the reprint.
I wish Best Buy or Circuit City would sell the game, I don't like buying "re-sealed" games at EB Games or GameStop...
...they're not resealed. WTF? EB doesn't reseal newer games.. around here, anyways.. opened and sold as new, sure.. resealed, never personally witnessed.

I somehow knew you would reply, Scorch!...;)

But it's true, I purchased a "sealed" copy of BloodWake from EB Games. When I got home, I noticed the official Microsoft sticker-seal was missing from the side of the game case! There were scuff marks on the game disc too. So, there you go...

it was never rare, a couple of foreign people and some impulse buyers just went crazy on ebay. every eb in chicago had them.
